We loved "Avatar"...yes, the story made us think of a sci-fi "Dances with Wolves" but the special effects were awesome.....visually stunning.

We really enjoyed the movie in Imax 3D, I laughed, cried and was thrilled all at varying points during this movie. Just a word of caution to those who suffer from motion sickness, it will turn your stomach.

While the special effects were very impressive, the movie was just not very good. If you've seen Dances with Wolves, you've seen Avatar. Just turn it into a sci-fi genre. Same plot, bias, etc.

I so enjoyed this movie. The storu line was one we have seen many times before. Greed, the feeling that we have the right to anything we find etc. but was treated well. IT WAS THE MOVIE that was great. From the first frame to the last, I could not take my eyes off the screen. I have a 65" TV at home and have spent the last few years saying "I'll see it on TV" - Well not any more. 3D will bring me back to the theator. I forgot about the glasess and everything else and just reveled it the experence. Go see it and enjoy. I will go again.

The movie Avatar is an incredible cinema experience. Everything about the movie is so vivid and full of life. You can tell hours of care went into every single pixel on the screen. The acting was amazing. There are characters you love and characters you hate.
The only thing about this movie is that 90% of the people who see it will only see the effects. They will totally miss the message because of the pretty colors and great acting. This movie shows what we do as a race on a daily basis. We pillage and rape countries and villages everyday trying to sieze what they have and we want. Go see this movie, but really listen to what they are trying to say. Think about it.

Regardless of the clear political comment being made by James Cameron, for which he has gotten much criticism, this is the best movie I have ever seen. The story never slows down and even at the end of three hours, you want more! I was seriously skeptical, which is why it took me two months to go see it. Was I wrong, this movie is beautiful, amazingly creative, and plain out AWESOME.

Wow, I had a feeling to take my wife to the movies, and wanted to go to the I-Max in our area thats new, the only show that was playing was Avatar, I was interested in it anyway, but, we reserved our tickets, drove 45 miles, and got there just as the movie was about to start, WHAT an EXPERIENCE!! The RUMBLING of the Theater, the picture floating in the air in front of you, just simply INCREDIBLE! Can't wait to see next one, Alice in Wonderland at I-Max and 3D...

I was expected to be blown away by this film, and in truth I was. Halfway into the movie, I started noticing things that were very familiar to me. The story is a blended version of Fern Gully, Pocahontas and a dash of Dances with Wolves. Which is probably a common arguement, but they couldn't even come up with their own technology. My example? The weapons and military equpiment were taken from the Halo game series. The mystyical inner-planitary nature of Pandora was basically the Lifestream from Final Fantasy VII. The only thing they didn't do was turn it into one all collective power to destroy the military.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

WOW!! This really is the best movie ever made! It has everything from a phenomenal storyline to incredible special effects. Avatar is full of action, drama, and, I will admit it as a guy, an amazing love story. Add to that the life lessons concerning the environment and our Native American people. You really find yourself not only rooting for the Na'vi but also becoming totally engrossed in the characters and the forests of Pandora!

Saw this for the second time-this time on the very large IMAX screen and in 3D of course. While the story isn't that original, the character treatment was very well done and very believeable. The line between reality and CGI is so blurred in this film. Three generations of us went to the movie and were equally enthralled.

The production is great, the best of it is the hidden analogy to what currently happens in the Amazon and other rainsforests, large areas deforested with no concern about the environment or natives depending on it.

The theme of this movie is a little old - the army vs the little people tree-huggers - but it's very well done. The presentation is spectacular and add to that the 3-D affect and it's unbelievable!! Definitely a movie to see - especially in 3-D.

AVATAR was so heavily hyped that I was worried that I would go in and end up underwhelmed. I feared that even if the movie was good, it wouldn't live up to the hype. I couldn't have been more wrong. This movie was incredible! It was a complex balance of excellent story, believable characters, and jaw-dropping effects. I have to admit that it even bordered on a nearly spiritual awakening or religious experience. I didn't want the movie to end. It's been a long time since I was truly transported by a film and this one didn't disappoint. It did more than live up to the hype... it exceeded it.

This was an incredible movie from start to finish. I actually did not want to see this since I really disliked Titanic and didn't want to see another overblown romantic not so epic movie. Boy-I was way off on this one and what an amazing message for all of us to treat our earth and all living beings with respect. This is by far the best movie I have seen in YEARS!

The plot is close to Kevin Costner's "Dances With Wolves", with a visually stunning sci fi edge. Injured soldier takes on a mission to live among the natives. First native he meets happens to be the daughter of the local native spiritual leader with whom he falls in love.
He soon realizes the true enemy is his own people who threaten the natural web of life. He learns from the locals that the land is not for expanding personal wealth but is the very root of our shared existence.
He warns the natives too late that they will soon be forced out with overwhelming military might. When the invasion begins, he leads the charge against them. The heroic result seals his fate as he "goes native" for good, leaving his old life forever behind.

Though the story line was somewhat predictable, the sheer "sensory overload" was really something to experience. The colors, the sounds, the 3D effect on the large IMAX screen, all added to quite an experience. Technology has come such a long, long way!!

The movie was awesome in my opinion. This was my first 3d Imax experience since Epcot Center in Florida back in 1989. Combining this technology with a James Cameron type film (Titantic meets Pochohantis meets Star Wars) and it lets your senses go wild. For my next time, I would recommend not sitting 4th row from the front. It seemed to me that close-up fast action scenes got a bit blurry, but a simple retreat back a few rows should make it absolute perfect. I definite must see and if possible, AGAIN!
