I loved the world that Cameron created. The beautiful scene he created felt so real. It felt like it was possible to go off to this planet and see all these bizarre creatures. The movie was a bit fern gulleyish but with some added complications. I was captivated the whole time and would love to travel back to pandora several more times.

It is the best movie for IMAX 3D. You need to watch it in this format. Even if this is the second highest grossing film of all time worldwide as of this time, I prefer this film than Titanic.

Avatar follows the same story line as "Dances with Wolves." Seeing it in 3D on an Imax screen brought me to a new and fascinating world. I would like to have seen more character development but the overall experience was wonderful.

The story is a rip-off of both Dances With Wolves and Pochahantas. You've seen all these characters before in comics. The dialogue is unintentionally funny. I have rocks in my heart for well written movies that can't get made.

I have given this movie 5 stars because that is what it deserves! The storyline was amazing and I was truly impressed with the special effects! I watched it in 3D and for 2 hours and 40 minutes, I was whisked off to this magical land. Good Job James Cameron!!!

I didn't simply watch a movie, I had an experience. Could the story have been better, sure. This is the future of movies today. I don't know how an adventure/fantasy movie could be made in the future and not be made the same way. Truly an unreal experience that I'd reccomend to all my friends. The story wasn't great, but never got in the way of the enjoyment of the movie

What a cool movie!! Beautiful images, fascinating effects and very creative. The two-and-a-half hours went by quickly. The story is nothing new, though: greedy Americans trampling a spiritual, tree-hugging tribe. And of course the girl falls in love with the American, not knowing the real reason for his presence in their society, and... you know the rest. Nevertheless, I recommend it, because if you love eye candy and creativity (not to mention technology), this is the bomb.

Being a world of warcraft fan and an avid dreamer, watching this movie in imax had me gasping and panting for my breath, it felt as though they had pulled this story straight out of one of my dreams. Took a girlfriend to the movies and did not swap a single word during the whole movie. The visuals were amazing, the world created makes me want to stay there. Matter of fact i would probable pay all my cash for something like the movie>(wishful thinking).
I loved it.

My review title pretty much sums up the internal conflict I have with rating this movie. If I were to base my review solely on the CGI effects, then I'd give the film a 5 out of 5 without question. However that would not be fair to all of you. I must take the movie as a whole and the plot/storyline is part of it all. In this case I'd give it a 3 out of 5 since it is classic (a primitive protagonist vs.a modern antagonist) but not quite original. So I'm left with giving it a 4 out 5 in order to split the difference. In short, yes go see the movie in 3D IMAX but please be thrifty in your ticket purchase price.

Just saw Avatar & while I thought it was spectacular visually the 3D didn't work for me completely - several times I saw multiple images instead of one with the objects at the side of the screen. the story was horrible seemed like a complete mashup of Dances with Wolves, Star wars, Eragon, Aliens with tons of bad cliches throughout - I started to laugh when the Naavi attacked the corporation machinery - for some reason all I saw was a repeat of the ewoks in Return of the Jedi - not worth the $29 I spent to see it on the IMAX & definitely not worth the hype - I wish next time they would spend some $$ on a plot to go with the effects

This movie was fantastic! Yes the C.G.I. was INSANE but that is not the only reason this movie is good. Some people may say the storyline is boring, but that's for those without heart. The plot may be a common one, money vs life, greed vs beauty, gold vs soul, and so forth, the shadowing of the Native American plight but with a much more beautiful ending is how I would describe it. But there is an amazing uniqueness that will be unparalleled for decades to come, so boring? Oh H to the NO! Open your eyes and your heart you!

The CGI was stunning, in Imax 3D. The underlying storyline was worthwhile to contemplate. Of course if you need a storyline shoved in your face then you might not understand this movie. There were several slow spots that seemed almost like awkward bridges from one scene to the next. Overall captivating for the 2:40hr runtime.

By far one of the best movies I have ever seen! Great effects, great story, great imagination, could watch it over and over again. Can't wait to own it. I was coming in with lower expectations, but was hooked by the first 15 minutes. No real lulls at all, was carried out very well. A must see! Definately worth the extra few bucks to watch it on IMAX.

A tepid and familiar story line, buried within above average animation. If you're a gamer with little interest in human drama, this is probably your cup of tea. If you're a student of film, or even an average movie goer like myself, this movie will leave you feeling a bit flat and cold. This is simple minded stuff by a writer/director who has more to give. Oddly, the more significant actors were relegated to secondary roles. Much like George Lucas regarding the three later Star Wars films, Cameron lost himself in cartoons and computers. Was it better seen on an IMAX screen? Most likely. Was it worth the extra cost? Only had I carried in lower expectations.
