I know naked plagiarism when I see it. Take "Dance with Wolves", add the rally-the troops speech from Mel Gibson in "Braveheart", rip off the slo-mo of the "in the moment of the madness" from "Private Ryan" and "Platoon", freeze the noble warrior in midair stag leap just like Brad Pitt in "Troy"....then take the pluck of the simple salt of the earth farmers from "Magnificent Seven" and "Seven Samurai" ("how can fight them?..we only have our picks and shovels!") Then marry some of the "enlightened"evil interlopers with some of the indigenous pure of heart just like in "Mutiny on the Bounty"! Even a visual reference to fall of the Twin Towers! Unforgiveable. I could go on till dawn..lazy and appalling. Lefty claptrap in a pretty dress.

This is one movie I wanted to see at Imax, and I was not disappointed. I have seen a select few movies, some 3D, and this is one movied I did not want to miss on the big screen. I have already recommened this to others.

However... You can only blow up so much stuff before it just becomes ridiculous. The last 40 minutes is all explosions and collateral damage. I enjoyed it, but it is 40 minutes too long.

The IMAX ver was my first exposure to the movie - went on a friends recommendation. Aside from being an eye glass wearer - and the obvious problems with the 3d glasses I thought the movie was excellent. The time 2.5hrs + really moves along. Looking forward to te sequel???

Just saw AVATAR movie in 3D at the Providence RI IMAX theater. My husband and I thought it was great! The movie had a story line, the scenery was really beautiful. The mix of the human world and the AVATAR world was interesting. I will be honest - I liked this movie and I don't really like Sci-Fi movies.

This was such a completely great movie- the effects, the pacing, the imagination, and the messages were so well done. This movie is why our american culture still contributes to the discussions the world has about native rights, climate change, respect for nature, and cooperation. I can't wait for our son to be old enough to understand and enjoy this movie!

The story is familiar... innocence vs evil.
But, the effect of the 3D draws you in. My stomach lurched when they were bounding around way up in the air. I ducked once when something came whizzing out past me. The big, fierce creatures made me want to duck when they roared out of the screen.
The comabt scence got very intense because you felt like you were there.

The planet looked just like a giant rain forest, animals are very similar to those on Earth, locals - just like Native Americans except they had tails and were much taller. Floating mountains exist due to low gravitation, but everybody walked normal. There's an idea of reconnecting with the enemy that chooses to kill you and making him serve you after all... I was disgusted how strong the propaganda was. It makes America look like the main source of evil on Earth, and military look stupid and cruel. Yes, I did enjoy the IMAX colors and sounds, but I wish I didn't pay money to contribute to the success of this movie that makes our country and military look bad. Cameron should be developing his creativity, and not getting into politics.

This is the way a movie should be. Something you walk out of and go "wow"! The effects are amazing and the music score is powerful. I was drawn in from the get go and it didn't seem lke it was 2 hours and forty minutes. Forget about the political overtones and the knock on the story. The story is fine but it's the effects and photagraphy that will blow you away. A must see.

I hardly get to the movies anymore, but when I do I only hit the one's loaded with great special effects and that usually means I am going if it happens to be in IMAX as well. So when I saw that Avatar was in "IMAX 3D" I was all about making a point to see it. I have seen other greats like the Matrix trilogy, Batman "The Dark Night" and now Avatar in 3D all in IMAX. This was the best by far because of the 3D! This is a must see. Go now before it leaves IMAX! Everything about this movie rocked. The story was cool, visuals in 3D even better. Go see this one, don't miss it!

Great adventure! The visuals, I cant even begin to describe how stimulating they were! IMAX 3 D is the only way to see this movie! It's worth the money. The only real drawback of the movie was the anti government, mother earth goddess, borderline witchcraft slant that the movie had. Isn't the whole point of going to a movie to get a break from reality? I wish that Mr Cameron would just make movies and not promote political agenda's as he see's them, but overall? Oh yea! I recommend it.

I watched this movie once in 3D at a regular theater. It was amazing. I wanted to see it again and I thought it would be a perfect movie for my 1st Imax expreince. I really couldnt believe it!! The colors and sounds were so much better!! I would tell anyone who already watched this to go see it again at IMAX.
Thank god I did buy tickets online because there were about 100 people in line to buy tickets.

My first 3D in many years ( yeah old guy) and the IMAX experience was just incredible. Recommend this to anyone. Great good vs evil storyline. Graphics are superb. CGI has come a long way. Sound system is incredible.

We had no idea this movie would have such a great story in addition to the beautiful effects. It does. Run, don't walk to see this film in Imax 3D if at all possible. Glad we drove the extra 30mins for the Imax.

This is one of the best movies I have seen. The Imax 3D experience was fantastic. What I really liked is that there was no cursing or swearing. It's amazing how wonderful a movie can be without vulger language. I congratulate the writers and producers of this move. Job well done!

I am not the biggest sci/fi fan, but thought that this movie was incredible. The effects were wonderful. I really liked the story (even though it was a little like Star Wars). I would definately recommend it to everyone. You have to see it at least once in Imax.

When I heard that Avatar was nearly 3 hours long, I knew I'd never see it. I usually don't have the patience to watch movies for more than 2 hours. I'm happy my husband pushed me to see the IMAX 3D format. The movie was spectacular. It was so realistic I ducked my head a couple of times to avoid being hit by a flying object. Lol. Avatar is action packed, fast moving, has breath taking images, and has the potential of raising social consciousness. Avatar is a fabulous example of the art of visual story telling.

Fascinating. The 3-D was awesome in the begining but slowly wore off. I expected more of the things coming at you, where you felt like you were there and had to duck or move out of the way or reach out to touch what was in front of you.

From the time the movie starts to the ending, you can't believe the experience of seeing this movie in 3D and at an IMAX Theater. I actually ducked out of the way a few times! You have to see it at least once in this format, give yourself a movie treat you cannot have anywhere else.

This was my second time around at the Chenal 9 IMAX.
I loved the movie, but was very disappointed in the 3D glasses the theater used. Different glasses were offered the first time and the imagery was clearly defined. The second viewing with cheaper glasses produced slightly blurred viewing. Also, the colors in the first viewing were brilliant and were very dull in the second viewing.
After seeing it near the first of its release and yesterday 2-28-10 I will not go to an IMAX and see it again.
I think a first time viewer might be impressed.

I would have given it 4 and a half, not 5 just because of not a new story idea.
But this is a movie which everyone has to watch - and if possible in IMAX 3D. This is very different.

This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. Anyone that rates it less than 5 starts must not have seen the right movie, lol! I saw it at an IMAX in 3D, and I would highly reccomend seeing only that way. It was such a good movie. It was never boring and there was never a lul in the action. A must see for any age!

This was an excellent movie even with all the special effects that usually don't thrill me. My main dislike is the same with most movies today. The level of sound is over the pain threshold and my husband complained even though he was wearing his motorcycle ear plugs. Volume this high distracts and does not ad to the drama or excitement. Some viewers actually got up and left, and we heard many complaining about the volume. TURN IT DOWN!!!!!!

The sound and 3-D experience were terrific. The story line has much to reflect upon with past American and world history. The 3-D effects will have you jumping out of the way and the scenes are so real you will want to reach out and touch them.
