I loved this film! We threw out all the stops and saw it in IMAX...it was wonderful. Every actor, every scene was just fabulous. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was the temperature of the theater (cold) and a rude woman sitting next to my wife who spent a good deal of the film texting. I thought about saying something but chose not to...it was her loss. I don't often see movies twice in the theater but I just may in this case...it was that good. Go see it!

I am not a person who goes to see a movie more than once, but I am planning on seeing this again. IMAX 3D is a must. I very rarely get emotional in a film, but did about 5 times during this one. If they could have changed why we were there, I think that the story would have been a little better. As it was, I really didn't care why humans were there. The rest of the story overshadows that insignificant fact. I think that this is quite possibly the best film I have seen in a very long time. I hope that they can continue the story in sequels. There is many different ways they could continue this.

James Cameron just brought movie making 25 years into the future with this. It is hard to call it a "movie review" when it is a totally different experience than you've ever had at the theater. The 3-D IMAX experience makes you think that you have your own Avatar in the movie experiencing what the other characters are feeling. A truly remarkable achievement in film!!

Movie was brilliant, however, in advertising "Avatar" An Imax 3D Experience', other factors should be considered on how the movie was presented. I booked tickets online, paid an extra $3 in charges to avoid a box-office line. Was not the case since on arrival i was informed to take my credit card to the box-office line. I was not refunded the $3 charge for 2 tickets either. Then handed 3D glasses that required proper cleaning(greasy) to wear over my own glasses, rather uncomfortable for 3 hours.All in all, i enjoyed the movie tremendously but reviewed as a 3D Imax Experience, fell short of the mark by the theatre. Avatar may prove to be more enjoyable at a regular theatre and skip the Imax experience.

Amazing movie, people keep saying that the story was OK and may have been a little to long. I found that the movie wasn't long enough and the story to be appropriate for the time as we are slowly destroying this world. Imax 3D is the only way to see this movie.

One of the best movies I ever saw, unbelievable graphics and settings.
The 3D glasses are very uncomfortable especially if you have to wear over your regular glasses. Entire family got headache wearing these glasses.

Fantastic visual experience, perhaps the story is not worth 160 minutes, 120 would have done, just fine....but who cares!
This is the movie worth going to the movies for, if I want a better storyline, I can always watch some Indie film at home on my tv!
But, I Really enjoyed the Experience more than the movie

I've ever seen a movie of it's equal. We arrived too late to get good seats, so we ended up sitting in the front row, and it was still riveting and fantastic! We took my 3 year old son who never sits through anything, and he was riveted through the whole movie. I had to check to see if he was awake! IMAX 3D is the way to go to see this movie, you won't be disappointed!

Great movie! The IMAX 3D glasses were dirty, smeared with popcorn butter, and hurt my girlfriend's and my head. It was distracting to wear them for three hours.Not worth the extra cash IMO. I think the film would have been just as great and probably better on the regular screen.

I realy enjoyed seeing Avatar in 3D at the IMAX. It's been years since I saw a 3D movie & back then you went to see the movie because it was in 3D not because of the story. Avator is different. It had a great story line (a cowboy & Indian movie) with the Indians winning. The 3D and all the special effects were fabulous. I wear glasses so the 3D glasses were somewhat incomfortable & I had to adjust them several times. But I definitely would go see this movie again!

This was an excellent movie, but we got to the movie late, so we had to take seats in the back, which was not the best for an IMAX film and the 3D. It is best to get there early and be at the front of the line. The best seats will be the ones that your view is fully within the movie screen for the best results of the 3D experience. The only disappointing part is that I didn't get there early and that all the seats at this particular movie place were not arranged or put in so that all the seats could give you the best experience possible.

This movie did not need to be as long as it was for the story it was telling. The Special Effects were excellent in IMAX 3D, however, I would not say - other than them being superb for an animated work - the 3D was any better than U2's 3D movie (where you felt like you could reach out and touch The Edge).
I would recommend this for the form factor experience, but the lack of WOW from the story made it feel a bit off-balanced.

No doubt, this movie set the standard for any 3D movie in the future. But as for the movie itself, i only can say its above average. sure the the movie looks beautiful, but that's all. the characters and storyline are so "old school" there is no surprises at all. if you are going to see this movie, at least go to 3D ver. or iMax 3D.
there is really no point to watch this movie in 2D.

Went with my wife and two friends and we were all completely blown away. The concept was insightful. The graphics brilliant and amazing. The plot line was very easy to follow. The 3D...WOW...and the surround sound...just like we were in the movie, itself. The physicality of Pandora's fauna was amazing. Most of them had six legs and the eyes and nostrils weren't located where a mere Earthling would have expected. The flora was equally exciting and unusual. But amid the visual, aural, and vocal aspects of the film, the tenet that the spiritual energy of ALL beings is universally connected and it must and will be balanced is evident in scene after scene. This idea was very easily presented and therefore quite simple to understand. Namaste.

The 3D IMAX phenomenon, particularly the forest world, was amazing. However, the story line and characters were all too familiar, and the film was too long. Interestingly, I found that wearing the 3D glasses made the experience of watching this movie somewhat isolating - as if each individual was experiencing the movie alone rather than with the people you came with and the crowded theater full of people.

First let me say I have never been to a 3-D movie before and was skeptical of its abilities. I was blown away by it! The movie was also absolutely amazing and the 3 hours flew by without me even noticing. I sat there for most of the movie with a big goofy grin on my face over the 3-D and different beautiful things in the movie.

I don't go to see movies in the theater often but I am really glad I went to see this one. I saw it in IMAX 3-D and all I can say is WOW!!!! The special effects were unbelievable and the movie had a very good storyline.

This is a movie you should see in a theater, but I would try to find it at a matinee. My reasoning is this, if we fall prey to paying to see movies with great special effects and no plot in the theater because we have too, producers will continue allow poor movie plots to come out.
If you haven't seen Disney's Pocahantes then you will find the plot new, but still shallow. There is so much more that could be done with this plot that it is sad they didn't do anything.
