I saw this movie in IMAX. Btw this was my 1st IMAX movie. I have to say I am gonna be spoiled by going to regular movies for now on. And this movie in itself was the best movie I have seen. It not only stimulates ur mind but also gives u an emotional connection with the characters. U actually are wanting the aliens to win over the marines/humans. And the special effects are out of this world. I can see why James Cameron has taken years to release another movie after Titanic. the only place to go after that was up and up he did. The 3D was the best I have ever seen. It wasnt what I was expecting like the other 3D movies I have seen in the past. This was almost like virtual reality. I think that is where James Cameron is going next.

Saw Avatar 3 times in IMAX 3D. Everyone loved it. Only 2 people i know didn't like, but they are professional drunks and don't like anything but alcohol. Of course it's a story that was told before and will be told again. Don't believe the negative hype - would you not watch a love story simply because another love story has already been written? Go see it and be a party of history, the 3D is amazing, hard to tell the difference between what's real and what's not. Notice, only people who are politically polarized along with pro-war and pro-white are screaming against it. I'm white. And, if in the same situation as the main character, I would have done the same.

My wife and I viewed Avatar in IMAX 3D. This was the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. It sets the bar to a new high for digital animation. It's a must see in 3D.

Go see IMAX 3d. I bought it hook line and sinker. I was there; in the world walking along side the characters. I definitely recommend hitting the bathroom before hand; and getting there at least 30min early even on a weekday. We went at 7:15 on a Wed night and the theater was 98% full.

I saw this movie in IMAX 3D and the technology blew me away! I can't imagine seeing it in any other format now. You really feel like you are in the movie, rather than just watching it. The storyline and the underlying message are both great. I can't say enough about this film, but you have to experience it in IMAX 3D!

Run, don't walk, to see Avatar. I saw it at an IMAX in 3D. This movie lived up to the hype and well beyond. The story is great, I don't know why some have complained. It's a long movie, but the time flew by without notice because I was so wrapped up in this amazing movie. Splurge and see it on a big screen, in 3D. Movies like this only come along once in a decade.

I'm not usually a fan of science fiction but I did enjoy this movie, particularly in IMAX3D. It's long, but the story is fast-paced and gripping, and the beauty of it will transport you happily away from the everyday. It has the right combination of action, romance, and good vs. evil and, in spite of the fact that you've read or seen the story before, the presentation makes it fresh and exciting. I would put it on a must-do list, and I would see it this way.

I saw it at an IMAX and it was one of the most unbelievable movies I've ever seen. I know this is just the first of many more like it to come, but it was truly amazing. Not only were the effects great, but it also had a good storyline as well. I recommend it to anyone, even to people who say they don't like "Sci Fi" movies.

Just Awesome!
The best feature of the movie is the out-of-this-world imagination that has been translated to the screen. The special effects make it all the more real and the beauty of it all is that it fits the storyline.
The story is not something new and several ideas have been borrowed from other movies and human tribes but it all fits so well!
i look forward to get to see "the making" of this movie as much as I waited to see the movie itself.

I was just blown away. The IMAX Special 3D effects were beyond anything I have ever seen in my 50 plus years on this planet. You need to see this in IMAX to get the real feeling of being on Pandora.

This movie was visually stunning. People who are afraid of seeing this movie because of its three-hour length or IMAX 3D format shouldn't worry at all. The IMAX 3D is done so exquisitely that you truly feel like you're a part of the action (especially if any other theatre patrons happen to walk between you and the screen during the performance - it's disturbing). And our theater used super-lightweight glasses that didn't make you feel like you were wearing a scuba mask. If you've heard complaints about the storyline, ignore them. The story is fine. The movie is engaging, thrilling. The scenes of Pandora (aka New Zealand) are breathtaking. I'll be saddened when this movie leaves the theatres.

Absolutely visually stunning. This movie MUST be seen in IMAX 3D to get the full effect. The story was good. All of the supposed controversy is completely overblown. The theme is basically that we, as humans, need to listen to our hearts more and our pocketbooks less. It is about respect for nature, rather than how it can be exploited.

Be warned, if you are prone to motion sickeness like I am. I had to leave the theater after an hour to throw up in the bathroom. Then, when I went back to my seat, I just kept holding it in... my husband was there and he seemed to enjoy the movie... and we did pay $30 for the IMAX 3D! So, when I got home, I was in the bathroom throwing up for 20 minutes. Today (the day after), I feel sick all day still.
The effects were interesting and different. It was eye opening.... the parts I did see. The storyline isn't all that original.

See the thing for the immersive 3-D you can't shake off when you leave the theatre - there's something uncanny about this viewing experience - takes us all a full step forward in the evolution of motion pictures, and by "full" I mean "The Jazz Singer,' or Technicolor. That said, however, what a colossal disappointment for a "Terminator" & "Aliens" fan -- this thing is otherwise dreck, from the storyboarding on --- the main motif is irritatingly similar to Horner's "Titanic" score, the story elements are either derived from better material (e.g. "Last of the Mohicans", "The Matrix," "Dances with Wolves", The Smurfs etc.), cannibalized from Jim's OWN films, or just plain obvious, by which I mean to suggest about equal parts fatuous and smug.

Avatar. A great movie of special effects. Why did people enjoy this movie as much as I did? Well here's why:
Special Effects: The scenery, the props Cameron used unbelievable! How can anyone make something that can float around without animation? Very cool.
Music: The music is very enjoyable. It fits the theme of the movie and keeps you in your seat. Overall it's a must see. It is beyond belief of what James Cameron has inside his movie.
