We did not see the original, but went to the 3D extended version and enjoyed it thoroughly. The theme that resonates within us all...that someone has to stand up against outright evil, will prevail throughout the years, and, thankfully, the very obvious current political views will eventually get lost. This epic fairy tale is a masterpiece.

I enjoyed my visit to Pandora just as much the second time as the first. The total visual-audio effect overwhelms the senses and suspends reality. It's like a mini vacation...Cameron is the legal Timothy Leary! I highly recommend it.

My husband and I have send it 3 times, and the last time was in 3D Imax, what a experience that was. It made the movie beyond words.
If you haven't seen it yet , go and see it at a I max theater. The effects and the story keep you on the edge of your seats.

Once again, even the third time seeing it, I felt that this was the best movie I've ever seen. It totally pulls you into the world of Pandora and makes all of the characters real and believable. Superb, exceptional movie making with the best 3D yet and an extrodinarily seamless merger of live action and computer animation.

I saw it the first time and it was amazing. I wanted to see it a second time because of the new scenes and simply because it's one of the greatest movies of all time. I wouldn't mind maybe seeing it a third time.

This was my 1st IMAX experience and quite frankly, I wasn't impressed. Big screen...sure! Great sound system....sure!...BUT not impressive. Depending on where U sit, U may see someones foot blocking your view. AVATAR 3D was awesome as expected with the new footage added and it was kinda fun seeing where they put the xtra footage but left us hanging "cause the question about the school was NEVER answered.

I've seen Avatar two previous times in 3-D, four or five times on DVD showing it to friends, and now the new special release in 3-D Imax.
I have to say that I appreciate each viewing experience for what it has to give me. In the original 3-D version I appreciated being able to experience the movie's eye-candy in a smaller theater with decent seats. At home I could watch the movie on a widescreen set and enjoy the very "Dances with Wolves"-like story. On an Imax screen I found my gaze being drawn to different areas of the screen, noticing details I'd previously missed.
That having been said, although none of the added bits changed the story significantly, they worked together to clarify or enhance it. Not only do you get more delicious eye-candy, you also get an explanation of why the corporation attacked the tree of souls, and how Sulley became the leader of the Na'vi.
If you enjoyed Avatar before, treat yourself to this extended release and I'd say chances are you won't be disappointed. If you didn't like Avatar the first time, this won't change anything. Spend your money and your time elsewhere. :)
Oh, and the three year old sitting in the seat beside me kept trying to catch the little seeds and flying critters. He was almost as much fun to watch as the movie. :)

Seriously, those are the two words that describe this movie best. I saw Avatar the first time around and then went back to see it in 3D during the re-release, and I must say that viewing the movie in IMAX 3D was well worth the ticket price. This movie is ridiculously enthralling in 3D, and I often found myself with my eyes glued to the screen, with my mouth wide open.

I saw this movie in its first release, and had every intention of going back to see it in 3D, but missed the opportunity. I purchased the movie when it came out on DVD. When it was released again in 3D, I could not believe it and I was not going to miss the opportunity. And believe me, I was not disappointed. Without a doubt, I think this is the best moviie ever made, and seeing it in 3D IMAX only heightened the experience. It really was an experience.

I couldn't begin to say where the extra 8 minutes were. I'm just glad this incredible film was released again. I saw it the first time in 3D. This time I drove a few miles to see it at an IMAX theatre. Well worth the effort. I say again; visually stunning..

The re-release at the end of August is the first time we've seen this movie. Luckily it was available in IMAX and 3D where we usually go to see movies. It was an amazing experience and with the 3D, it made you feel a part of their world.

I have seen AVATAR five times now, three times in 3D, once on regular HDTV, and now IMAX 3D.The experience gets better each time. Yes the plot is predicable but what a world Cameron has introduced us to!!! Every time the main characters take to wing I wish it were me.
I can not wait until the sequel comes out.

We saw this move in its first release in 2D and thought it was one of the best movies ever. Now, in IMAX 3D surround sound, it's even better. We were riveted to our seats. The screen and sound completely encapsulated us. This is with out a doubt, the best movie ever made to date. WOW !!!

This is the fifth time I've seen the film, but the first with the new footage. I'm really glad they added it; it adds more info to the world we are shown. I have to drive an hour and a half to see it in IMAX 3D and it is 100% worth the drive. Some people don't feel this way but for most (and even more for myself) find it an almost religious experience. I hope that one day this movie changes the world, I know it's changed mine.

The first time out saw it in 3D on the regular screen twice and was highly impressed. Enjoyed it so much that we got the BluRay disk combo. Now with the added footage, that helps explain a few things, wish I hadn't. We must have been at a baby IMAX because it seemed to be the same size only LOUDER!!!!! and more expensive. So loud the wife had to plug her ears and said later wish she knew that, would have brought her shooters plugs. Still one of Cameron's best

This was the third time I saw it. 2nd time in 3D. I rented it once from netflix and was disappointed - it really needs to be seen in 3D. The story line is predictable and so-so but I loved the costuming and special effects. They're worth seeing more than once.

Seeing it again in 3D IMAX just made me appreciate how good it was the first time. I do not know if it was the added minutes but several scenes in the movie I did not remember from the first time. It still packed the same emotional impact the third time around and ranks as among the best movies I have ever seen.

We saw this movie when in its first release in 2D and 3D. Just saw its second release in 3D Imax surround sound. This movie is awesome in any form, yet we recommend 3D Imax. We are so taken with it, that we are going to see it one more time in 3D Imax. This is definitely in the top 5 movies we've ever seen. Bravo!!!

Seeing the movie in IMAX 3D was fantastic! The difference between the visual and audio at IMAX and the conventional theater we first viewed the movie at was unbelievable. The extra nine minutes that was added to the movie enhanced our understanding of the story line and smoothed out some stiff spots in the original version, answering a couple of questions I had in the back of my mind. A must see movie experience!

This film, by far, is the best movie I have ever seen. James Cameron's stellar career has reserved him a place in film history. If you have not seen this film in IMAX then (in my opinion) you should run (not walk) to the next available showing. I know I will be going back. I told my husband "I think that was the best $30.00 dollars I have spent in a long time." The added footage was awesome and tied the whole story together. DON't MISS YOUR CHANCE TO SEE HISTORY IN THE MAKING!

I took the family to see this yesterday. We'd all seen the original in various formats, but this blew them all away. We were all in agreement that the IMAX 3d experience was simply incredible. There were a couple of us who remember the old red/green 3d formats which this far exceeded. I was in the back row of the theater swatting at the bugs on the screen. Watching this again on our DVD will be a disappointment.

Awesome - the added nine minutes I felt was critical for the movie - some scenes, in the original, seemed to "jump", now there was more "flow" to the movie.
IMAX 3D for this movie is a must! I have seen it in all other formats and nothing comes close to the IMAX experience.

Avatar is one of the best movies I have ever seen, if not THE best. The graphics are unbelievable (especially in IMAX 3D). James Horner's music is inspirationally exciting and devastatingly romantic. It evokes such a beautiful atmosphere. The story is beautiful and timeless. The Avatar is also a movie with a moral, that is to connect and respect the Earth, which I think is especially important and relevant today. Overall, Avatar is the whole package. Watching this movie in IMAX 3d (for the 3rd time in the past year) was almost a religious experience. I can't believe it did not get more acclaim than it did.
