...to describe just how absolutely amazing this movie was. My friends and I walked in expecting a good movie, but we didn't get what we went to go see. No, we got a masterpiece of cinema that likes that have only rarely been seen.
This movie needs to be seen in IMAX 3D otherwise I believe the world is missing out on the genius and beauty that is this movie. This is not just a movie with special effects, or action sequences, or storyline. No, this movie takes all the elements that make a movie and turns it into a work of art as only James Cameron can. He took us on a trip to another world, he made us feel what the characters felt, he made us experience the movie, not just watch it. It was absolutely masterful in its execution.

I watched AVATAR last night. The first show at 12:01 AM “Howz it?” is the immediate question that pops in your head. The answer is “Can’t explain. You need to experience it.”
People started to clap at the end of the show. The very thought of missing a frame in the movie will not allow you to blink.
Hats off to James Cameron. He created a new world on screen and going to create new records off screen.
Please watch it on IMAX 3D and treat yourself.

This absolutely blew me away. I was completely immersed in one of the most intricate landscapes ever conceived; it was like nothing I have ever seen before! Now all I can think about is riding dragons and connecting my hair with other girl's hair to have an insanely good o-gasm that still can't match the one I had while watching this!

This movie was amazing, not only were the visuals fantastic but i really enjoyed the story. This film reminds me of when the Matrix premiered many years ago. It was a movie ahead of its time and you knew you were watching something special....This is One of Those Movies! If you love movies with a good story then this is a must see. It was worth every penny. would recommened you see this in IMAX 3D.

Its been too long since James Cameron took a hiatus from filmaking and this blockbuster 3D film marks his return. This is one film you will want to see in theaters, the 3-D technology and the storyline make it worth seeing again and again. Trust me . . . . . . You wont be dissapointed!

I saw the midnight showing last night. As expected, the effects were amazing. However, the story was predictable (with some Bush bashing and a "man is evil" theme thrown in), and there were some lapses in logic (SPOILERS - the aliens "waking up" suddenly to the tractors, Jake not snapping Quaritch's neck while he's hanging right in front of him, etc.), but they were forgiveable. The acting was fine, but not stellar (Worthington is the tamest leading man I've ever seen).
Avatar is something to see for the experience (though I did find the 3D glasses a little bothersome). I love most of Cameron's films, but I guess I was expecting too much. Or maybe I was just too tired! I'll watch it again to find out. Overall, very enjoyable.

I have never waited for a movie as I have waited for Avatar. I have seen all of the James Cameroon movies. So my expectations was not on the story. But Avatar has a decent story line as well. It takes you to a different world for the entire two and a half hours. Pandora is a brilliant creation and the animations were beyond the world. This is a must watch movie for all the action lovers and tech freaks. I am sure Avatar would grab atleast 3 or 4 academy awards for special effects. If you want to see how our world would have been if we had not destroyed so much forest cover watch this movie.

Avatar blows all expectations! The presentation of the story and all that encompasses it is beautiful to a level that has not been seen before and with the added bonus quality of the 3D in IMAX it was the best movie I've seen in theaters EVER.

The movie was incredible. Although, the storyline reminded me of Dances With Wolves on a much larger scale, I thought it was great. I think the fact that the special effects just blows your mind takes away from the fact that you knew what would happen, predictable almost. Nonetheless, I'm hoping that he does a sequal where the humans come back or something. There's no way people will stay away for long with unobtainium in an abundance there, right? I think he has an opportunity to develop his story on a much grander scale like Star Wars. Overall, I would recommend it. An absolute amazing movie.

While the plot seems to be a combination of film themes you've seem before (a little Matrix Trilogy here, Dances with Wolves there, etc...) you will be so caught up in the visual appeal of it, all thoughts of "I've seen this somewhere before" will be forgiven. The cgi characters are even more realistic that The Lord of The Rings Golem and the action sequences are mind blowing. A must see in 3-D IMAX.

I have to admit, there were definitely instances of unbelievable cheese. But the visual mastery far outweighs what amounts to 5 minutes of bad dialogue!
I haven't seen a movie get a standing ovation in a long time. A Truly stunning and overdue experience

To be honest I wasn't sure what to think of this film before seeing it. When films get too much hype it can often lead to major disappointment. Thankfully Avatar delivers and in a big way! The story, while somewhat predictable in certain spots, was still very enjoyable. The music was great and the special FX... wow I began to forget I was watching CGI it was so immersive. Go check this film out, you'll not be let down. (Oh and the other reviews are right, spend a little bit more for the IMAX 3D, it's definitely worth it!)

I have not but once in life witnessed the future of the cinematic form unfold before my eyes - until tonight. Yes, the ever-so-godly James Cameron has delivered on absolutely EVERY SINGLE promise that he's made on this film. Trust me, it is a HUGE game-changer, just as Star Wars in '77. It has a big heart, wonderful characters, and ferocious artistry that simply hasn't been seen before. It's "Big Jim's" magnum opus, and a love letter to everyone that believes with all their being in the power of the movie-going experience. I absolutely love everything about it. As a young filmaker, it has left me with no doubt that I'm in the right business, and changed my life. Enjoy everyone, and thanks for listening.

I've been to all the big blockbusters as of late and this movie was, by far, the best movie that I have seen in a long time. With the stunning special effects, you'd be crazy not to pay the extra money and see it in IMAX 3D. The world they immerse you in is so lifelike and incredible in 3D. This movie made me wish I was there in this beautiful environment and storyline. I can't think of one bad thing in this movie that would prevent me from seeing it again in theatres. THIS MOVIE WAS MADE FOR 3D!!!

I was lucky to see it at a press release last week. It was 2.5 hrs. of awesome. Absolutely beautiful and immersive special effects and cinematography. The characters were cool, the acting was good, and the story was told well and in an interesting way.
You MUST see this movie in IMAX 3D. It will blow you away!
My friends and I are going to see it again when it comes out. I can't wait!

I was one of 'the lucky ones' who attended AVATAR Day, and I can tell you 3 things.
1:Do not believe ANYBODY who says ANYTHING bad about this movie. You will feel like an idiot once it comes out.
2:This is not ordinary 3D.
This is IMAX 3D, on IMAX screens.
The 3D in this movie (at least, in the 16 minutes that I've seen) is used to emphasize the characters, and to draw your eye to certain parts of the screen in scenes that are particularly breathtaking.
3:Buy your tickets now. A number has not been released, but ticket sales have been described as 'strong' at almost FOUR months before the release date.
I personally have already bought 2 tickets and I plan on buying more later (if there are any left!). :)

It very well could be-and I haven't even seen the whole movie yet. As with the who knows how many fans that grabbed a ticket for the movie-making history preview for Avatar on Avatar Day, I watched the mere 16 minutes in complete awe. Really, the trailer, which does seem cheesy to me, doesn't show the real texture and feel of Avatar. I know that when December 18 does come around, I will be in that seat, waiting to be blown away that could be, as I said earlier, James Cameron's most impressive movie of his career. Of course, I will also be in an IMAX 3D theater, as that will be the only way for me to see it; I do advise everyone to pay the extra bucks to see it in this format. It will, I assure you, be worth every penny.
