I drove 2 teenage boys 2 hours away to catch this in IMAX 3D. Was definitely worth the trip. I got lost, therefore later than I wished, and ended up in the 2nd row from front which probably would have made me terribly uncomfortable except that I was too engrossed in the film to notice. The CGI was just simply fantastic. The 3D was the best I've ever seen, nothing cheezy about it. The story itself was good--better than expected--though I would have liked to see a little deeper character development in Jake. I suppose running at 2:40 as is that's asking a bit much. If I had a local IMAX, I'd go again. I may go to my local 3D showing again if my daughter forces (cough) me to. Anyone who loved LOTR on the screen will also love this.

This was the most original, beautiful, and absolutely complete movie I have ever seen! It was definitely worth the price to go see it in 3D at the IMAX. I won't give any plot details, but I would recommend going to see it to anyone!! Wonderful!

What an absolutely great experience. The 3D theater just sucked us into the Pandoran Jungle. The colors, the creatures, you could just reach out and touch them. We loved the story, I am so glad that they waited to make this movie. We will definitely buy this movie, but will be back to see it in 3D one more time. Is one of my favorite movies of all time now.

James Cameron has done it yet again. Beat all expectations and naysayers and produced a beautiful and exciting movie that deliveres on all levels. And in terms of visuals, he has brought filmmaking to an all new level, making AVATAR a benchmark for others. But knowing filmmaking as he does, he knows that ultimately it's always the STORY that makes a good movie into a great one, and while the premise is not new, the telling of it is. This is a film that screams and demands to be seen in IMAX, or at the very least in theatres. If anyone is on the fence on this, treat yourself and enjoy a true adventure story that really has a heart and soul to it, not to mention the best visual effects up to date.

The movie grabs you right at the start with outstanding 3d and just keeps you engaged to the end.
The imagery is dazzling with special effects by weta who did The lord of the Rings.
The creatures here are different,but the flying dragon like creatures are just awesome.
Go see this if you love adventure and sci fi.

Avatar in 3-D is awesome! The visual imagery and special effects were superior! The storyline and plot was great! I will definitely go see Avatar again before it leaves the theater. It is truly a multi-sensory experience that has the WOW factor!! Avatar is a must see and feel thematic experience!

Arguably one of the best movies I've ever seen. The 3D experience was awesome, but great movies aren't made because they are 3D. The directing, plot, screen play, etc. is what made Avatar a home run in my book. A truly unique move experience.

I expect most movies being produced today to have a liberal bias of some sort, especially those coming out of Hollywood. Some are subtle, and some are blatant. The blatant ones are usually obvious just by reading a quick synopsis of the film. Avatar, in many ways, I think, tried to be subtle with it's "Green" undertones, and anti-war suggestions, but it failed to be subtle after comments containing the phrase "Shock and Awe" were made, and when part of the ending narrative included lines about the people returning to their dying world. The military is reflected in a ruthless and inhumane light.
The visual effects, lighting, editing and sound are outstanding.

I had never seen a 3D IMAX movie so it was definitely a great first experience. I absolutely loved this movie but my husband thought it was good, not great. I think you really have to be a Sci Fi fan to truly enjoy this movie.

I'd read a few reviews saying Avatar was short on story and character development. I completely disagree. While the special effects were all awesome, the story was not neglected, and I never felt that the story was compromised by the special effects, or that the special effects were driving the story.
Long story short: Avatar will be the next Star Wars.

Seriously. Everything about this movie is perfect. Amazing storyline... each second of the 2hrs 40mins is needed to tell this story; there's not much, if any fluff or eye-candy for eye-candy's sake here.
The CGI is absolutely seamless. Its a new world, you can't tell what's real and what is computer. No. Really!

I didn't arrive early enough to get a good seat but I still enjoyed this movie very much in IMAX 3D. I felt it was a very good movie, and I didn't have overinflated expectations, but I wasn't quite as impressed by this film as Titanic. It was very much worth seeing, but a Best Picture Oscar? I don't think so.

This movie was absolutely amazing. I loved the 3D features, it made you feel like you were in the story. The storyline was great. It was very simple and similar stories have been done before. The only difference was the amazing special effects and James Cameron's special touch to make this movie great. The characters looked real. You could see the resemblance between human and Navi, but with the 3D, they looked real. I think this movie is definitely a must see, but not a movie you'd see over and over and over again in the theaters, as it is pretty long (even though you don't really notice).

The story wasn't very complex, and it's been told before on the big screen, but never like this. The IMAX 3D wasn't gimmicky like most 3D movies tend to be. The 3D was used to make you make you feel like you were right there on Pandora with the characters... And Pandora is a beautiful and fascinating place, like none you have ever imagined. I haven't watched a movie in the theater more than once in decades, but I will be seeing this one again soon. The IMAX 3D is worth the extra money. Even if you don't like SciFi, watch this movie for the beautiful wonder that is Pandora.
