Saw the movie Christmas night in 3D at the IMAX and really enjoyed it. The plot was weak but the action and visual effects were amazing. Unfortunately I saw the clip on TMZ with James Cameron interacting with a fan at the airport cursing him out and calling the fan a ret@rd James Cameron is an elitist idiot. I will never pay to see another one of his movies.

Fantastic - my husband and I really enjoyed - IMAX was wonderful- I had to keep myself from reaching out to touch the falling ash...... a few gaps in the story that I noticed but not that important ....I thought the 2 hrs and 40 mins went by fast but my two late teen/early 20's kids thought it went on forever - guess they are so used to 3D and video games that it wasn't as special to them. They did like the movie however.

i was prepared for a "whatever" experience when i walked into the theater. i was not prepared for this. i found myself holding my breathe, ducking flying objects and reaching out to touch things in front of my face.
if you're going to see this you *must* see it in IMAX 3D.

This movie is simply amazing, for lack of better words. You don't even notice how long it is; you won't get antsy or wish for the movie to be over. Watching it in Imax 3D is the best decision to go with. The price for 3D tickets are worth it. It has definitely raised my caliber for movies and I don't think I will be able to see a 2D movie for a long time.

What a great new concept! The theme was predictable, but I could overlook that because the story was so unusual. It amazes me what computerized graphics can do! I saw this in 3-D in an IMax theater and couldn't imagine seeing it an differently. THIS MOVIE IS NOT FOR CHILDREN!! There is foul language and sensual content, also quite a bit of violence.

I thought all the other reviewers were exaggerating, or hopping on the bandwagon. Words like "immersive" and "amazing," beautiful, groundbreaking, blah blah blah were all over the place. So I went with pretty low expectations - I mean, who would really expect any movie these days to be groundbreaking. Listen carefully - none of those reviews was exaggerated. I don't have the words to describe it, other than YOU'VE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE. Leave the little ones at home. I'd say 10+ might be OK, but it's properly rated PG-13 (unlike Transformers, which my 4-yr-old LOVES). Lots of scary stuff coming at you aggressively in this movie. Enjoy, and tell your friends. James Cameron has done it again.

Human imagination has no limits! In the beginning of the movie I inhaled and exhaled only at the end. I was watching with my husband, my 21 year old daughter and my 9-year-old son. All four of us were smashed away by the beautiful images and extra-ordinary effects of this film. And the meaning too, of course...

It alternates well between action and wonderment, which are in ample supply, though I must say that some characters do not develop at all, and some are unconvincing in their supposed roles. At certain points, the animation and dialog are a little over-the-top in ways I can't describe. There are some small story gaps, but given the length of the film, they are safely ignored.
This movie is a unique blend of sci-fi, fantasy, action, and adventure with a touch of emotion that is a feast for the eyes. The story is of the most epic proportions and does not fail to entertain. I found the whole 'experience' enthralling.
I don't know if I can watch this movie in 2D and find myself wanting 3D Blu-Ray now... as impractical as that may be.

This is what all movie experiences should aspire to be! There is no better way to experience Avatar than in 3D IMAX! Truly a captivating movie!!
I hate to even mention this, but the story line is simply a SciFi version of Dances with Wolves. HOWEVER, having said that, Dances with Wolves was an EPIC film that still ranks high among the highest grossing films in history.
Despite that, the special effects, the completely new world that Cameron created and the truly talented actors made this movie a great experience!

Well crafted with attention for detail; animation was at its best; feel good movie. All the messages sent out in the movie were lovely.
Sitting in the second row for me was literally a pain in the neck, eye and head. So reach there early and get a spot in the middle of third row from top.

Though heavily advertised because of its innovations and cutting-edge graphics, it also follows an excellent story line, making all the sci-fi more believable. This movie was fantastic. From the start to the finish. It incorporated elements of various excellent movies such as District 9, Last of the Mohicans, Aliens, Star Wars, and made it into one of the best, if not the best movies I have seen.
The IMAX along with the 3D made it seem like you were actually in the movie. I have never heard such a quiet audience, as I am sure they were as enthralled as I was. The actors were great, and you really felt that the NAVI were actual people. It was just an absolutely wonderful and memorable experience.

I have not been this offended at a movie in a long time. White guy comes in, becomes a better native than the natives, and saves the Africans and Native Americans--uh, I mean Na'vi--from the bad guys. A colonizers fantasy of redemption. And violence indulgence to boot. I felt gross after this film. How has no one noticed this? Let's just call it "Dancing with Dragons." I did like the astonishing effects and landscapes (that's why I gave it one star) but to what effect?
