I am not a fan of sci-fi movies and thought that I was not going to like Avatar since they mix science fiction with the real world. However, James Cameron exceeded my expectations in this movie by intertwining both worlds in a way I would never had imagined. This is an excellent movie for people of all ages. Tip: If you have an IMAX theater close by, you have to see it on 3D IMAX because it brings everything to another level!!! Believe it or not, this is now my favorite movie!

This is the absolute best Sci-Fi Movie I have ever seen .. I took 3 kids to see it and they were in awe .. not once did they attempt to move from their seat ... eyes were glued to the screen the entire time... I have to say James Cameron out did himself with this one , 5 of us to the movies was not cheap but well worth what we spent ! A must see !!!

So all I can say was I was blown out of my seat. Just did not want it to end. The movie was a bit longer than I thought , but so well done and a great story that I enjoyed. It was the best 12 bucks I spent all year. The best movie I have ever enjoyed in my life. It was a blast!

All I can say is that after being jaded by so many high-tech, cgi movies since forever, this spectacle has actually made me feel for the characters. Great battles, redone plot and 3D aside you actually believe these characters and they make you get involved. It doesn't put the human race or the military in a good light but what have most of us done in our history to make us feel proud about when it come to saving our planet. I'm not a tree hugger and i'm not innocent by any means but Cameron really knows how to make you think. The only ones that don't get the movie probably need alot of education about our eco-situation. As the saying goes " Don't stool (the site won't let me curse} where you eat".

Absolutely the best sci fi movie I have ever seen! During the 2 hours and 40 minutes, not one person left the theater! Choose the 3D version.....it's like you are there...great story and character development. Stunning technology!

The concept of the movie and the 3D effects are amazing. The storyline is not very fresh but has enough to grip the audience. This movie marks a new era in cinema experience. Just when the big screen TVs and Blu-Ray were starting to make a dent in the cinema revenues, a movie like Avatar gives people a reason to reconsider.
IMAX-3D did make this movie extra special however I have one complaint. The front few rows at IMAX should be removed. having purchased my tickets ahead of time, I reached the cinema close to the start time only to find the cinema full and people holding seats for others (very annoying). I was forced to sit in the second row and it was not good.
It is a must see for everyone.

150 minutes well spent, if you can only afford to watch one movie on IMAX this year, make it AVATAR.
This movie truly portrays USA's great army, how it is now and how it will probably be in the future. It was nice to see, at least on a fiction movie, that it was a happy ending.

I was skeptical of the technology (3D and animation) and was pleasantly surprised by both. A wonderful experience that draws you in. The story line is a tried-but-true "cowboys and indians" format that was well done and poignant. I recommend this movie for anyone and we will go again

Watching Avatar in IMAX 3D just shows me the future of movie making is here. After everything is said and done, all I can say is WOW!
The intensity, the visuals, sound and animation is awesome. The acting ain't bad either.
I am not sure after seeing this movie in IMAX 3D I can ever watch another flick that is not filmed this way.

There are many hidden thoughts ideas it reminds me of Africa, only difference the African people are not so lucky as Avatar people. Second though is the harmony that Avatar people leave together with nature and their spiritual connection between nature and them. Again it reminds me of remote tribes and population of Africa, Australia, South and Central America, Siberia, China, India where people leave together with nature happily without a need in modern technology but natural resources that surrounds them are of interest for corporations
Last but not least the straight forward idea of an outside remote world, which is out there beyond human technological reach awaits to be discovered and lived in with harmony and respect

Great movie! Great story! Great special effects! You should definitely see this movie in 3D on IMAX, no matter how much it costs! It was well worth it! We took the whole family (all six of us), ages 14-50 and everyone enjoyed it! But, be sure to get your tickets early as most IMAX shows are selling out. We tried to see this twice before actually getting tickets. If you can order tickets on-line, you should!

And a must-see for a second time in a couple of days. Cameron's characters lacked the depth of his protagonists in "Titanic" but this isn't a drawback to watching the film. Cameron knows how to engage and entertain!

The experience was like I remember when watching Star Wars as a child. Completely immersive, the graphics are completely natural, the characters surprisingly well-developed for a Sci-fi, overall 100% for "tricking the mind" and 100% for fantastic entertainment. From a guy who just turned 40, but feels he has seen it all several times over.

Cameron takes a simple albeit timeless (or tired depending on one's perspective) archetype which is the imperialist vs indigenous struggle and transplants it into the future with breathtaking imagination . Although I found the storyline old-fashioned, the flipped ending of the story was satisfying but the true wonder of the movie is Cameron's ability to not only imagine so amazingly, but to actually bring the rest of us into his imagination so credibly. Could there be a more beautiful and fascinating world? In Cameron's head, I hope so, and I hope the sequel has a more complex story line that approaches the utter spectacle of the visual world in which it is set.

Very rarely can you find a visually stunning movie that has great content, and adding 3D to the mix seems to just be an attention grabber that they use to sell a movie with incredible animation with no real story line. AVATAR is one of a kind, it has it all! The movie is incredibly visually stunning and the story line catches your attention from the start. The longer time of the movie only leaves you hoping there is more. My wife and I have a hard time agreeing on a move to watch and when we do one of us normally walk out saying “Aaah it was ok”, we both absolutely love this movie and I plan on buying it when it comes to DvD. (don’t have a blue Ray player yet but maybe this will inspire me to buy one:) )

This is a whole new level of movie experience. With the 3D and the IMAX the whole world looks real enough to touch and that world is incredibly beautiful. It is a classic story of an evil company exploiting the natives, but well told. We all agreed that by the end it was almost visual overload to experience. We went twice so I could take all the rest of my family.

Really enjoyed the movie. Simple, well defined characters. Standard story line. A little heavy on the political and "humanitarian" aspects, but the pacing and visually rich film was quite enjoyable. You can root for the good guy, furrow your brow at the greedy, weep for the opressed, and cheer for the demise of the bad guy - all delivered well! Cameron does it again! 3D IMAX was a great way to see the film.
