Movie was awesome. However the theatre sucked!!!! We went to Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti showcase on Carpenter Rd. The movie started 45 minutes late, due to some type of equipment failure. So 1/2 way through the movie the movie cut out and then they decided to cancel the movie. I will never go back to this theatre. They did give us tickets to come back and see another movie some other time. But what about the gas, time and other money out of pocket. Going to the movies is not an inexpensive venture these days.

This was perhaps one of the spectacular and most imaginative movies I've ever seen
However, this script and story were sorely lacking. While in the beginning the storyline showed promise, opening us to a new world and its culture, the script rapidly degenerated into a sophomoric diatribe on the destruction of indigenous peoples and a really dumb battle. So, Cameron, please stick to special effects and interesting stories written by someone other than you.

Movietickets.com made our movie experiance fast and easy! The movie was sold out the day before we saw it when we attempted attending a showing the first time; show sold out before getting to the counter.
No Lines!!! No Waiting!!! (to get the tickets that is)
I recommend seeing Avatar at an IMAX theater if there is one available near you. This movie was simply AMAZING to watch in 3D. All four of us were talking about how we would even pay to see it in 3D again and again. A must see if you are into Avatart. Strong message for both young children and adults and appropriate for all ages.

This is probably the most attention-grabbing movie I have ever seen. I don't think I looked away from the screen once in almost 3 hours. The big story is the visuals, which are rich beyond any possibility of description. There are so many interesting things going on away from the central action all the time, that I'm sure I will see cool new things in this movie every time I go see it. The 3-D aspect of the movie makes you almost feel like you are really there. The plot follows generally familiar lines, but with enough different things going on that it is thoroughly enjoyable. I went with a group of 6 people, ranging from 15 years old to 52, and everybody loved it. More than just a movie, this is a real experience!

Excellent plot, excellent cinematics, a must see 3-d experience. You will think you are part of the movie. Battle sequences are great and live as a reminder of what man will continue to do if we don't change our thinking. If war is the answer, you're asking the wrong question.

The efffects were dynomite! I love all action movies but this was non stop. For 2 hours and 40 minutes, I didn't shift once in my seat. I'm still trying to figure out what the alien "love "scene was tho.

I have seen many many movies in my 50 years and I have to say that this movie was transporting. The movie has an emotional and spiritual pull on the heart and is visually stunning. I was transfixed, absolutely spellbound by the beauty and attention to detail. I saw the movie in 3D imax which added another layer to an already rich palate. This movie is not to be missed. James Cameron has taken movie making to another level altogether as there is nothing that compares with Avatar so far. See it and see it soon. On another note, it barely attains a PG-13 status. I would definitely take kids 8 and up.

Saw this movie in Imax 3D. Marvelous technology! Beautiful images, action, etc. Primary means of knowing (or maybe not.)GCI characters vs. live ones was their very non-human traits and the severe action.
Story was a collection of movie cliches: much content taken from prior movies - the final battle is like the Ewoks vs. the Storm Troopers in The Return of the Jedi; dragon riders are hardly new; and the ritual of the natives after killing an animal is directly out of Last of the Mohicans. The characters are very one dimensional per the script -- greedy, heartless corporate dude and colonel way too hot to kill and destroy.
Lots of technical awards at the Academy Awards, but not for acting or for the script.

The graphics is great! This was my 1st imax 3d movie & I'm glad it was this 1. The story line was ot anything unusual but the visual effects was beyond my imagination. I was blown away. Well worth the additional cost for the experience.

This is one of the most amazing, graphically satisfying movies I have ever seen. You cannot tell the real world from the animated. In 3D, you truly feel like you are there. The characters are believable and well thought out. It is a definite must see for all.

Utterly amazing. If you are not entertained by this movie, there is no hope for you. Stunning in I-MAX 3D. This was our first I-MAX movie and we were blown away. All movies should be shown in 3D. This is one movie that should be seen at least twice, for there is so much to enjoy, you'll find something new each time. Wish we had seen Star Trek this way.

In my 39 years I have NEVER experienced anything like this movie. If it weren't sold out for the show that came after the one we went too we would have spent the day and a ton of money going to see it again and again! It is action packed, engaging, romantic, exhilarating from beginning to end. We held our breath, we cried, we got angry, we connected with everyone of the emotions the characters were going thru. The music carried us on an amazing adevnture to Pandora, thru the battle scenes and into the arms of lovers. I would be surprised - no shocked - if this movie doesn't snag up every single award out there!

This movie was one of the best I have seen in a very long time. And IMAX 3D made it 10 times better. I will go and see it a few more times before it is out of the theaters. It clocks in at just under 3 hours, but doesn’t feel like a 3 hour movie. It sucks you in and when it is over you want more. You will not be disappointed if you go see this movie. Children will also enjoy this movie as long as you don’t mind if they see some violence. There are a few curse words, but it is rated R for violence mainly.
Great Movie! Must See!

This movie was amazing. Flawless effects, nothing looked 'fake' even with live characters integrated. The story was great, the acting everything. This is the best movie ever. Certain to be a classic, too much detail to fathom and the fact that James Cameron invented a camera to film it and had an actual language created for the natives in the movie shows attention to detail that is groundbreaking.

Definetly a movie worth the IMAX 3D experience. This was the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. This movie combined an Interesting storyline and solid performances with a consistent pace that kept you engrossed in the movie. Never felt like it was 2 hrs and 40 mins. I saw this movie in Imax and it was pure blue awesomeness! It's so crystal clear and because it's in 3D it really does feel like you were right there. When a movie is this long and it only felt like you were there for an hour,...,it's good stuff.

Especially IMAX, this is it. The effects are mind numbing. Actually, the effects are so awesome you forget they're effects. The 3-D has finally surpassed its former gimmick status, and the interweaving of live action and CGI is seamless. Great plus: there's actually a story and you really care about the characters! It's also wonderful to see Sigourney Weaver back in the future. Truly worth the price! I'll probably go see it again!

I was somewhat hesitant about this movie since I'm not a big fan on animated films or sci-fi. However, the fact that James Cameron's movies are top-notch, I bit the bullet and paid $14 for a ticket. And I'm not sorry I did. The film was great. Long at 2 hours and 40 minutes but you wouldn't know it. The time flew as I became enamored of the Avatars. This is a must see for all. The PG-13 rating is likely for the violence, as the Avatars and humans fight with bows and arrows and hi-tech weapons. If your kids are mature enough, it's ok for those under 13. My 10 year old son and 13 year old daughter really enjoyed it!

Being that this was the first time I saw a movie in 3D I was amazed, like a little kid. The movie itself had a good storyline to follow. Very sci-fi but anyone would appreciate the action and the amazing background.
