What can I say?! It was the best movie experience for me, ever. Truly Amazing.
As incredible as Star Wars was for me in 78.
Sensory overload. 3D IMAX "For the Win"

I wasn't real sure what to expect from Avatar, as I had not heard anything about the plot or the methods of creating it. All I knew was that it was some big production with some new technology.
The story, the action, the sound, the entire movie blew me away. It is a definite must to see this in IMAX 3D. I can not remember the last time I was this amazed by a movie!
It's probably not a great movie for the younger kids, maybe 10+. I can not wait until this comes out on DVD.

Avatar was good, though the story was not particularly able to surprise. I saw it in Imax 3D, but it did not throw much in the way of objects out toward the audience, either, even in the battle scenes. I did not feel as much a part of the landscape and of the action as I had expected to.
That said, the landscapes were gorgeous and the plant and animal life WERE lovely and inventive. And of course this is a message picture and I enjoyed the message. The ending seems a tad optimistic, however, since the 90-day-profit boys don't ever just go quietly back to their dead world. In reality, they just keep showing up with ever-bigger lies and firepower. SIGH!

Avatar is a visually stunning movie in IMAX, 3D. I had no expectations walking into the movie so I was pleased when I found myself instantly hooked. The storyline is somewhat predictable and the dialogue is a little weak, but beautiful Pandora makes up for it and the action is great! I was definitely entertained!

I thought I knew what to expect after watching the trailers several times.
I did not.
This movie will blow you away, not just with the visuals, but with the story and references to native cultures and respect for nature.
Only downside was having to sit in the second row at the Imax. It was a bit overwhelming at times being that close to all that 3D action.

There have never been 3D special effects this good-wow! The plot elements, on the other hand, have been played 1000 times. A good story, but nothing new. The film is a must see one time, but I wouldn't go again.

This movie was a waste of 3 hours of my life. The story line was lacking, some of the graffics were cool but over all I was hugely disappointed.

Great CGI and special effects. Sadly though I believe the message will be lost with the masses. The message is this: when you unilaterally attack another country or indigenous people merely to plunder their resources there are Consequences! Be warned.

This is a wonderfully scripted movie that will be one of the best movie going experiences you have had.
Though the story line is similar to other regular movies, the technologies used and in 3D kicks its up several notches.

Avatar met all my expectations. Many times after you see a trailer, that is all you get out of the movie, but not with Avatar. Each character is given equal time to play out who their personality is and their importance in the movie. The scenescapes, the inhabitants and all animal kind are beyond expectations. The action and the acting keep you entralled throughout the entire 2hr and 4o min of the movie. This is a definate go to see movie..a 1st of it's kind.

I saw the Imax 3D version and that is the ONLY way to see this movie! The special effects throughout the movie are unbelievable. Now I understand why this movie was so expensive to make. Of course there was a storyline as well as special effects- the story was good yet predictable. That's still okay for this type of movie. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to see this movie.

Wonderful, exciting movie. I will have to see it again so I can catch the rest of the scene. There was so much happening at the same time and the IMAX screen kept my head turning. Buy your tickets in advance in case it gets sold out again. Get there about an hour early and make sure you have a seat at least halfway back in the theater. I was too close in about row 20

One of our group came down with motion sickness, half-way thru the AVATAR IMAX 3D experience. I would put that more towards the heavily buttered popcorn and candy she ingested than the actual movie. A warning to those who are sensitive to such things. Other than that, worth every penny. Also, some feel that it's only worth seeing in 3D, but i have friends who have seen it in regular 2D and still say it's great.

Avatar must be watched in IMAX 3D. You become immersed in the movie. This movie is visually stunning; beautiful scenery and creatures abound in the movie. It is definitely eye candy. The story though predictable is still touching. A must see movie.

Many times the movie does not live up to the hype...this one is an exception. James Cameron has created a believeable other world. I pretty much watched the movie with my mouth open, not believing the beauty of what I was seeing. This movie sets a new standard for great!

The plot is somewhat predictable and some of the dialog is terribly written, but . . . the world of Pandora is one of the more fully realized and beautifully depicted in of any (including earth) in film. Much of the flora and fauna are clearly drawn from the undersea world of SCUBA - but set on land or in air. Add in the flying creatures and so forth . . . and in IMAX 3-D . . . you have a visually arresting film. The discovery of the planet (we learn through the experiences of the "avatar") drives much of the movie's first half, while the latter half is driven by the action of the conflict between the Pandorans (or Na'vi) and the humans, which makes for rollicking action sequences. The 2:40 flies by. A "must see."

This move was Fantastic. It was well-written, no line of dialogue was superfluous, it all kept the plot rolling. Basically the story was that of 'Dances with Wolves', a lot of 'Pocahontas', with a whole bunch of 'Independence Day' thrown in (except WE'RE the aliens). The story was absorbing, compelling, and suspenseful. The technology behind the film is really spectacular. The “Performance Capture” was amazing. Every frame of this film was simply beautiful. The performances were all top-notch and every scene felt well directed. I'm glad that James Cameron has, yet again, set his sights so high and come through. Avatar is a real film accomplishment and I would definitely see it again. Amazing.

This movie had a great story line and you didn't really have a hard time believing you could really be in the story. However, as for the 3D effects, parts were amazing and some parts not so good. It was nice when everything was calm and stayed calm... Once things would go into war, or fast movements, it would tend to make me a little dizzy because my eyes weren't able to focus correctly. The forest scene was unbelievable in 3D!!! but just beware that depending who you are, it might be a little too much.

Along with the stunning special effects and gorgeous backdrop, is a lesson we should all heed. All life is connected, and we only become disconnected from nature when we make that choice.

If Cameron is going to call out the US military in such obvious terms, it would be nice if he did the same with the Navi. How about if their leader was a monster who kept the female of their species in complete subjugation, with an occasional stoning, kept from all spiritual enlightenment, and perhaps a mass grave or six? Then our moral universe would at least be fair. It's insulting the way he takes pot shots. If you need a black-and-white universe for your little science fiction film, there's plenty of means of doing so without preaching your infantile world view to people are just looking for a bit of entertainment.
