Best movie I have ever seen. It has a little bit of everything; action and adventure, love, beautiful scenarios, great efects, and the 3D gives you the sensation of being in it. Loved it.

The movie and storyline where as expected, maybe I watched too many trailers, maybe you can only write boy meets girl so many ways. The IMAX 3D experience makes the movie absolutely worth it, I will probably watch every movie I'm interested in seeing in IMAX 3D, if it is available in that format. My son, 26, who had never seen a movie in IMAX 3D before said "why would I watch a movie any other way now?", I totally agree.

Avatar is pretty. Very, very pretty. Jim Cameron and crew did a brilliant job with the effects, to the point that something will jump out at you looking like rough CG until you realize EVERYTHING you've been watching is CG.
Still, there are only about 2 shots of 3D that make it worth it. And since this will be the penultimate 3D movie for years to come, save your $5. Watch it in 2D. The storyline is completely cliche, the dialogue is predictable and clunky, and yet its such a fantastic visual masterpiece that you won't care.

"Avatar: an IMAX 3D Experience" was unbelievable!!! It's definitely one of the most outstanding, creative, and well made movies I've ever seen. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver are all incredible in this film. "Avatar" has something in it for everyone, which is why I believe it's a massive blockbuster; everyone can relate to it, in one way or another. There are elements of drama, romance, action, adventure, suspense, and fantasy rolled up into this one giant film. I'd recommend this film to everyone and I would definitely see this one again. I can't wait until the 2-disc special edition DVD set of this comes out. Imagine all the bonus features about the special effects!

I don't really ever take the time to review much of anything, but I loved this movie that much. This movie is the best movie made to date. It those who criticize are outliers. Don't be fooled, you'll be sad if you miss seeing this in 3d.

This was a great movie. It is well worth seeing in any format. But if you can do it see it in Imax 3D. The world Cameron has created is amazing and 3D and the biggest screen you can find bring it to life.

Like a lot of the reviewers I never rate anything online. This movie is awe inspiring. I saw it in Imax 3D medium. Well apparently Imax does not require the screen size to be a minimal size. I've seen an "Imax" movie on a somewhat larger regular sized theater. I just saw Avatar on a mini real Imax theater, large but not the full sized. In any event on the screen I saw it was so amazing that I got choked up at times at what I was experiencing.
I love Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and the Matrix and thought they were the best. I now have a new favorite movie.
Needless to say I am seeing it again, on the full sized Imax screen!

I haven't seen a movie in 3-D since I was a little kid so I was interested in seeing this. It was a good story and the world that James Cameron and his team created was amazing. Since it was filmed for IMAX and 3D I personally wouldn't see it any other way. I would say it was good and entertained me, but I don't think it's as extraordinary as some people are saying. It's not life changing and I'm not even sure it's a film I would buy for my own collection, but it's worth seeing once.

Avatar Imax 3D was the best movie I think I have yet to see in my life! The graphics were great, you couldn't even tell that it wasn't real. Definitely worth driving all that way to see this movie! I would definitely see this movie again and tell everyone I know to go see it!

Great graphics/animation we've come to expect nowadays! We weren't disappointed! The visual depth was intriguing. Had a great story, but unfortunately, there are a lot of messages in the storyline. Hollywood, keep your politics to yourself!

I am not a movie buff and I just want to through that out there. This movie is the best movie I have seen in years. I never write reviews and that alone is a sign that this is a great movie. Personally, I think this movie has the potential to be this generations Star Wars. This movie is the best movie since Lord of the Rings and I think I will actually go and see it again.

Let me start by saying that anyone who likes to go so see movies has got to go see this one. And do yourself a favor, Go to see it in IMAX 3D for a truly amazing experience (This is not one of your grandfather's cheesy 3D movies - this is very well done). If you are a James Cameron movie fan then you know what to expect and this movie does not disappoint. IMO it ranks up there as one of his best with the likes of Aliens, The Abyss & Terminator 2.This movie is one of a kind and is truly ground breaking. It will undoubtedly change the way movies are made in the future.

This is the kind of movies that hollywood was made for. This is why America still is number 1 in movie making. I saw it in 3D at an IMAX and it was one of the best film experiences I have ever had, and I have been going to movies for more than 50 years! The last time I felt like this was when I saw Lord of the Rings. Can't wait for the sequel. Will the "corporate" bad guys just looking for a profit return????

We bought our tickets ahead of time, and picked our seats. We drove 1.5 hours to go to a real IMAX theater, not a converted theater (rarely have the seats at the correct distance from the screen and the speaker system is too loud in the small space) We were in a good frame of mind to sit and enjoy the amazing movie that unfolded in 3D. The 3D was well done, but not overpowering, the characters are well developed, the story simple and complete. The special effects are WELL worth a trip to see the movie on the big screen. I have recommended this movie to my friends and I hope to get to see it again before it leaves the theater. I would pre-order the DVD today - I hope it comes out in regular and 3D!

Yes, this movie lacks a bit of originality, but it is by far the best of its kind. If you are not close to tears on multiple occasions in this movie by the moving plot and scenery, you are a ice-cold sad excuse for a sentient being. It's really something that can't quite be described, and I strongly recommend you see it in IMAX, where the visual effects are crippling..

Ths was such a thrill to see!! Great visuals, storyline a little out there. Very well done. Had me jumping in my seat at times. Animated characters very real looking for what they were supposed to be. Haven't enjoyed a movie like this in a long time.
Movie was long, but well worth it. Kept my interest throughtout the whole movie. Should see it a second time to see what I missed during the first time. Throughly enjoyable.

The story line & character development were extremely good. The 3D was exceptional & the special effects were the best I’ve seen & equal to Lord of the Rings. The only drawback was that AMC’s IMAX is not IMAX. The story line parallels the fantasized view of Native American culture of oneness with nature but does not beat the viewers over the head with the PC. What is good about humanity is there, as is the bad. The native aliens are not shown as good or bad just it is their planet & not ours. AVATAR is a thoroughly a truly great entertainment & also one where those who created it didn’t use the media to be PC however appeared to let the story tell itself & follow a natural course.

This movie was conceived and executed as an IMAX experience of the first order. Creature costuming and humanoid behaviors of the Navi characters were a tour de force. Though the drama had a video game ethos, the screenplay and directing let the audience participate enough in the overall experience to fill in the gaps.

The 3-D effects were amazing. It is like being there. Totally eye-popping effects. Really three dimensional, not multiple flat layers. Cinematography is a 10. Worth seeing more than once. Story line, unfortunately is predictable, and the trailers all totally give it away. It is meaningful and profound theologically, but the story line is unimaginative. As my daughter said, it's just Pocohantas all over again.

This all too familiar story line is taken to the extreme. The over-reactive military at the bidding of an evil corporation sets up entertaining action sequences but is hardly believable. Likewise, the utopian tribal oneness with nature makes for awesome 3D effects. Despite the extremisms, the Jake Sully character is endearing and believable as a rouge Marine turned tribesman.

I really liked it a lot. It was very exciting. I enjoyed it, but didn't enjoy sitting next to someone I didn't know because the place was so packed even after 10 days of its first showing. I also didn't like all of the previews throughout the months before because I pretty much felt like I already watched the movie. Oh well, very good though.
