Highly entertaining on many levels! Spectacualar action scenes and special effects. The many themes encompassed keep it from being just another shoot em up sci-fi flick. Great thought-provoking topics to discuss with friends and family. Saw it in regular 3-D first and though the IMAX 3D was 10 times better! The graphics and sound will blow you away. I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 10 - too intense as well as lots of violence & language.

Not one I was originally going to see in theaters, but my husband was dying to see it in IMAX 3D, this movie was amazing! After seeing it I said "wow!". The world James Cameron created was beautiful and the CG work was so realistic you just lose yourself in it, it feels so real. The detail was great! I've heard people saying "man it was a love story" but it was SO much more than that! (yes, it had an element of love in it) To sum up, one of the best movies I've seen in the last year!

I thought this was the most fun and amazing visual experience I have had at a movie ever!!
It was so much fun to explore the rainforest with the Avatar people. From glow in the dark plants that responded to touch to unusual & adorable creatures who inhabited the forest, it was so etheral!!
I also liked the way nature was referred to as a"network". To ride any creature the Avatar had to "link " with it. I thought it was a clever metephor for how plugged in we all are today... unfortunately not with nature.....

Everyone should watch this movie. Man vs Nature, thinking man can take anything but shouldn't do. Especially taking from the wild animals, they need their land to live on. I can't wait till this movie is out on DVD I will purchase one.

Words can not describe this film, especially in 3D IMAX, what an experience, great story, just incredible! I am not typically a fan of 3D films. I dont like the "in your face" jabs just for affect, this film is not like that at all. The 3D really hightens the experience, like being on an amusement park ride, what a trip!!!
The whole family liked it, ages 9, 12 and 2 adults, fun family adventure to share. James Cameron really did it thsi time!

I've seen Avatar 3 times now. First two times were in standard 3D, while I thought it was an outstanding movie, I saw it again but in IMAX. IMAX was awesome! You didn't just see it coming at you like 3D, you felt as though you were in it. Great movie, for many reasons. Special effects, animation, story line, etc.

An incredible IMAX 3D experience. The visual images were outstanding and put you in the jungles, mountains, tree tops and sky.
For the visual effects alone it demands to be seen in IMAX 3D.
With a 400 million dollar budget you would have thought the producers would have found a few dollars to put into a script and story line. If you are over 12 years old you have seen this movie many times before and there are no new twists or turns.
What Avatar lacks in story and script will become apparent when it comes to your home in 1D.

The plot of this movie was very familiar. It was pretty easy to guess what would be happening next as the story progressed. That being said, I would highly recommend this movie to anyone over the age of 12.
Even though the storyline was not new, the characters were very engaging. It was easy to fall into the story.
The seamless mix of CGI and live characters was above and beyond any movie in memory. The IMAX 3-D was the best I have seen. I will be very surprised if this movie does not collect the lion's share of technical Oscars this year.
The world that James Cameron created was very detailed. All those details brought together a movie that felt very realistic, even though some of the ideas were fantastical.

I didn't know what to expect with this movie, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The special effects were awesome, but the visual aspects of the film took a back seat to the utterly amazing storyline. Its a fresh concept, there hasn't been a movie like this in a long time. I smiled, cried, and stared in wonder...it was one of the best movies I've seen in years. Highly recommend it!!

I am not into sci-fi and those kind of movies, but WOW! this blows everything out of the water. The story, the acting, the effects... This movie is the whole package! I would recommend to go all out and see it in IMAX 3D, it is so worth the few extra $$$.

I have seen this movie in 2D on a very large screen and I thought it was a really good movie. But then two weeks later I saw it in IMAX 3D........ If you are only going to see this movie once in a theatre, do it in IMAX 3D. It may cost a little bit more, but buy some popcorn and try not to miss your mouth as your jaw keeps dropping.....

Avatar keeps the viewer riveted and fully engaged in the story from start to finish. The story is well-conceived, the production is spectacular, the seamless blend of real human characters and digitally-animated creatures is ground-breaking, the attention to detail is awe-inspiring, and the entire film is presented beautifully! The viewer cannot help but be drawn into the story, developing a powerful emotional connection with the protagonists while growing strongly averse to the antagonists, which ironically are our own kind. This is without a question the best film of the year, not to mention the decade!

Our whole family really enjoyed the movie and the 2.5+ hours went by fast. The message was a little heavy handed (and I am a "greenie"). I think if they had been so pushy with their agenda, the movie would have been even better. It was cool to get lost in another world and Imax is the only way to go with this one!

If you love fantasy and sci-fi you won't want to miss this epic! I'm so glad we chose to see it at IMAX 3D! So worth the extra bucks! Much of the world might have been lost! The kids kept trying to reach out to the things on the screen! Truely felt like we were on the adventure with the actors! It had a little bit of everything for everyone... Action, drama, aliens, and lots of Science fiction for even the most avid buff, but the scenery really stole the show! We felt like we were on another planet right along with the characters......

I went to see the movie twice. The first time was in 2D then at the Imax the second. We absolutely loved the movie and think the story, colors and special events were wonderful. Best I have ever seen. I would go see it again if I get a chance to.

I saw this in IMAX 3D and was so dazzled by the visual effects that I had to see it again. The second time (also in IMAX 3D) gave me more of a chance to concentrate on the story line and character development. Outstanding story despite the comparisons to films like Last Samurai and Dances With Wolves. A bit predictable in the sense that the bad guys die and the hero lives on, but there's a nice twist. This is a must see film!

My son put it this way: However great someone tells you Avatar IMAX 3D is, multiply it by 1000! Avatar in IMAX is a must see experience. Details are extraordinary. You forget that the Avatars aren't real people.

This movie does not disappoint. It is everything they they said it would be. It works at every level. Pure entertainment, action adventure, romance, sci-fi, it's all here. There are plenty of topics for discussion afterwards too. Environmental policy, new age theology, scientific ethics, foreign policy, female empowerment etc. Or you could just view it as escapism. Definitely see it at an IMAX in 3D. The graphics and sound will blow you away. One warning for parents: the movie should be rated R. Lots of language and violence, and skin( blue alien skin is still skin).

This is much more than a film! Rather it is an entire experience. The world that James Cameron creates takes the you on a journey that will grasp you and pull on each of your emotions. This is a tale that will forever change films to come. The visuals in this film are breathtaking and the designs of the digital characters are truly realistic yet still imaginative. Many have mentioned that this story is a reproduction of “Dances with Wolves” or “FernGully,” and it is true that this story has been told before, but this film is told is such a way that makes it truly original. While watching, you can’t help but identify with the characters. The film is long but it goes by fast, and by the time you reach the end, you’ll be yearning for more.

We have seen this movie twice, in 3D and IMAX 3D. I think both were amazing and IMAX was worth the extra money. The story line was amazing, the actors amazing, the visual effect OUTSTANDING, I cannot find a flaw in the movie at all. It's the best movie I've ever seen and it's great for all ages, which is a huge plus!!

It was more than I expected. Definitely something that all of the family should enjoy. Love the graphics and the idea and the whole concept. Glad that the bad guy died in the end and that our Hero got to have legs and the love of his life in the end.Definitely a 5 Star Production.
