The Imax experience made this movie a fantastic voyage for the audience. The 3D effects totally takes the viewers into the jungle with Sully. The plot was excellent, but the message was powerful. This one is for the whole family young and old.

Although Avatar is visually stunning, it's plot lacks originality. The storyline is predictable but nevertheless, entertaining. Any multi-million dollar movie is bound to be an eye-catching box office hit, which is what Avatar is. Overall, Avatar is a good movie.

This is the best movie I have ever seen! By far this is what movie making is all about-an epic adventure indeed. You get an excellent storyline, respectful acting w/o typical A listers, coloration and animation like you've never seen before. The battle scenes will leave your jaw stuck in the open position. Not one complaint. I have never seen perfection on the silverscreen before until now. This is not your run of the mill G.I. Joe or Transformers 2 overload of CGI. The characters look real. You are in the movie and going through the same trials and tribulations as the indigenous population. Thank you James Cameron for raising the bar as you always do-quality vs. quantity.

My husband convinced me to go see a sci-fi on New Years Eve... and I am SO glad that I went! This was truly one of the BEST movies I have seen. I sent text messages to friends as I was walking out, telling them to go see it. This was also my 1st experience at an IMAX theatre. I can't imagine that seeing this any other way would surpass the experience. It was a beautiful movie, with impressive special effects; an awesome story depicting the ugliness of human greed but the beauty of nature. Just enough action to keep the boys happy but also a lovestory for the girls :-) My heartrate literally went up watching some of the battle scenes! I hope the Academy grants this one with an Oscar.

This AVATAR movie, which is clearly better than anything before in its advancement of the integration of CGI and real life acting, should NOT be missed in the most impresive format ever to see this movie: IMAX 3D...it is the most signifcant movie expeirence in my 30 years of movie watching. Do not miss out. there's a reason this IMAX 3D screening at my local theater has consistently been sold out in advance every day with a line 1 hour before...it's simply worth going seeing twice despite the expense.

Went with my wife, althought she wasn't as excited as I was about it. But after watching it, we both loved it. The visuals, story, etc were amazing. Definitely worth every penny. I will be seeing it again.

A new dimension in cinema!! Best movie ever made. A classic to be used as a bench mark for sci-fi of the future. The special effects, story line, are all outstanding. Academy awards are being lined up now! Makes one wonder about new worlds and new life that exist somewhere out there in the universe. A real must see. I've bee going to the movies since I was 7 years old, and if you've asked me two months ago what was my favorite movie of all time I wouldn't have an answer, there are like 10 or 20 favorites of mine until Avatar came along. I have watched this movie four times already and I'm planning to see it more times, it just feels different than anything else I've ever seen before, somehow I feel connected with each character and every time I see it I discover new things about each one of them. Best movie of the year. Actually, it wasn't a movie, it was an experience. Get there early, seating is critical for the full experience. Sit in the middle or middle upper portion of the theater. This movie will get several awards and is going to change the way films are made.

Avatar's story line is an old one, similar to that of The Last Samarai, or any other boy meets girl of a different culture. Violence in Avatar is also a bit over the top, so won't be for everyone. But, in terms of special effects and creative imagination, Avatar is to 2010 what Star Wars was to 1977. By far the best place to experience Avatar would be in an IMAX 3D setting. Such a setting might be difficult to those prone to motion sickness, but it simply doesn't get any more real than that.
So, for those who enjoy an old-fashioned love story, can tolerate excessive violence, aren't looking for sophisticated characters, simply want to be entertained and can appreciate creativity and unparalleled special effects, this one is a must see.

I watched it twice. It is that great! In regular 3-D the first time, IMAX the 2nd. This was my first experience with IMAX and I was somewhat disappointed. I actually enjoyed the movie as much or more in regular 3-D. I know I am going against the popular opinion here but that is how I see it.

Next thing in special effects/CGI. Unreal; enter , not just watch, the movie. Not much story ("Dancing With Wolves II") - but it just doesn't matter.
