I rarely describe cinematic events in such ways, but to wrap one's mind around the expansive worlds and philosophical undercurrents of this movie is a feat in and of itself! James Cameron has outdone himself in literally EVERY conceivable way, from the mastery of detailed 3-D digital realms to the life-like animation of the Avatars and creatures. In addition, he has touched upon the most critical aspect of our relationship to the natural world as human beings in the modern day, and how desperately we need to rethink our posture toward unrelenting economic development and natural resource exploitation. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

Whether you see this movie in 3D or not it is definately worth the price of admission and then some. The new technology is breathtaking and the story line is timeless. Any civilization in the world can relate to greed run rampant at any cost, and the subsequent consequences. This extends it to a planetary level and makes you really believe that life elsewhere is possible. Only complaint is that most of the new Imax theatres are really Imax lite and if you are expecting the Jumbo Imax screen you better check which theatre you are going to. I would have chosen the REAL Imax theatre nearby had I known there was a difference. Otherwise- WOW!!!

I didn't know anything about this movie. My husband wanted to see it. We both agree, this was a GREAT movie and/or the best we've seen! The effects as well as the story were great. We watched in IMAX and it just won't be the same when it comes out on video. You definitely should watch it now in the theaters.

"Avatar" is an incredibly uncreative movie with a horrible storyline and 3D effects that are lackluster at best. Even though I was the sole person of a party of 8 who disliked this film, the other 7 individuals agreed with the foregoing. To them, Pandora's intricate details and imagery made up for the film's other weaknesses, but not enough for a 2nd or 3rd viewing. I, on the other hand, felt very little creativity was showcased: Pandora is Earth with all of the usual stock inhabitants with a slight twist. Lastly, the entirely too simplistic message is beaten over the head of each moviegoer in a most obnoxious fashion.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The 3-D experience takes a bit of getting used to but once acclimated to it one can "live" the moment. I felt myself standing on the edge of cliffs looking down and ducking enemy missiles. I felt the dance of feathery creatures on my hands and flew around mountains and through forests. I wanted to stay for awhile in that land of fluorescent plants and graceful blue giants. If one's imagination is vivid and can allow the unbelievable then this movie perfect.

This movie is visually stunning, and deserves all of the acclaim it has receieved. However, having seen the movie in 3-D at a "normal" theater, and then again in IMAX, I would suggest that the IMAX version doesn't offer anything more extraordinary. If it's a choice between a $9 ticket and $14 IMAX ticket - choose to see it in 3-D in a NORMAL theater! It's just a good!

I first saw Avatar at my hometown theater in 2D, it was OK. I saw it again in Real 3D at a theater 2 hours away, it was GREAT. I just saw it again in IMax 3D after a 3 hour drive, WOW, WOW, WOW and WOW. The look of the movie totally changed and the sound was what I was hoping for. THIS MOVIE HAS MADE HISTORY!!

I'm not going to spend a lot of time trying to convince anyone to see this flick.....over a BILLION dollars in ticket sales worldwide should be reason enough not to mention it was director by James Cameron whose movies are all very good. Go and see it....you won't regret it and if you don't mind spending a little extra, get tickets for the IMAX version.....bigger screen size and louder than the Real3D.

I laughed, I cried, it took my breath away. The I-Max experience will do that to you no matter what the subject but this movie and the story has everything. It's a love story, a coming of age story, corporate greed, personal agenda versus greater good, egoic arrogance versus awakened sacrifice. The scenery defies discription, the pace never slows, the detail reflects pure genius. I took a swat at an insect going for my popcorn. Don't wait for the DVD. If it doesn't blow you away, check for a pulse.

GO TO THIS MOVIE!! Buy Tix on line- the show is sold out by the time you get there. Get your tix, go in the theatre and save seats, then go do any other things you need to do before the movie starts- then settle in for a fantastic entertainment experience. What a mind that Cameron has to create such a world. I found the 3-d effects not over done at all- no problem with motion sickness here. If you have any concerns- sit in the back row- I did and the movie was still very immediate feeling. Go and enjoy!

I never did a review before, but this movie is simply awesome, best 3D Effects ever and good plot.
I don't know why people puts negative rating on the movie just because they got dizzy, there is a warning about 3D movies for people who gets sick with fast motions, so why going into the Imax 3D and give bad rating to the movie based on your "SICKNESS" if you already know it will make you sick. Ratings should be based in the movie and not in personal medical experiences. this is movietickets.com not myhealthissue.com. you just ruin the movie for everybody else by giving wrong based ratings.
I guess people don't think these days.

When I first saw Odysey 2001 in the 70"s ,that was the impressiveness and futuristic film ever.But it did not have a message,it was a look at the future without a plan a purpose..
AVATAR is not only a futuristic view of what could happened in a 145 years from now...but is telling us the reasons why we could be in that situation. We are destroying every natural resources and life in this planet , we do not live and care for others, we are selfish individuals without a single bit of pity to be able to SEE that right now in this country alone are many suffering. All the millions and millions someone is making with this film should be given back to the PEOPLE, REMEMBER WHAT HE SAYS....SEE THE PEOPLE, ...SEE THE SUFFERING....

It definitely was an awesome movie experience with all the technology and
personal stories. I felt that the timing of James Cameron waiting to do this movie now instead of 15 years ago was brilliant. The detail that they used in making the Avatars so realistic and agile was in itself fantastic. Also being a person who has lost the use of a body part and knowing you have to fight to learn everything over again made me root even more for Jake Sully.

I've seen it twice, both times in 3D IMAX. The film is outstanding, the best 3D experience I have ever had. James Cameron deserves to win every award out there. There is a new level of achievement to reach now that Avatar is here. The 4 years it took to make really shows and the attention to detail is awesome. I didn't want it to end. This is one terrific show.
