my friend and I went to see this on opening day, not too many people in the theater at 11:15am, but both of us thought the movie was better then we thought it was going to be.
Yes it doesnt have an ultra deep plot and most things are a little predictable, no you wont waste 2 hours, 1 its only 1 hour and 28 or 38 minutes, 2 it is a little gory, but its a LIONSGATE vampire movie... a decent movie when it comes to vampire movies

When gory and boring are in the same review, it isn't a good sign. If one is going to trot out the tired vampire motif, a little more story and character development would have been nice. i saw the trailer and thought it was going to be real good. I thought the movie was decent. Compelling story, but not as well developed as I would expect. Overall, I enjoyed seeing the movie, and didn't feel like I wanted my money back. On the other hand, I probably wouldn't watch it a second time, even when released to video. Special effects (especially vampires exploding) made the entire theater laugh, which I don't think was the intended effect.

I enjoyed this movie overall, but the gore was a little gratuitous at times and I could have done with just a good solid, movie sans the cheap scares at a few points throughout the movie. Wait, people actually liked this movie? The trailer made it look 10x better than it actually was, and although the plot had a good concept behind it, they really failed to execute it. For example, when describing the actual cause for the human race to almost entirely turn into vampires, they mentioned maybe a 2 sentence explanation and never re-explored it. The futuristic city and cars looked pretty cool, but the special creatures and effects that happened to any vampire in the sun honestly just made me laugh. This movie plays off the popularity of the vampire genre to get viewers to see it, as it did for me being a vampire and zombie movie fan, but it left me wanting to watch a better vampire movie.

The concept of the movie was interesting, the execution of it a simple insult to the modern vampire genre.
None of the acting was bad really, even believable. There were a lot of cool scenes in this movie, the problem was how they tried to glue it all together with cheapshot scare moments that just did not work and news blurbs that became repetitive.
By the time the movie got to the point where they try to get you to emotionally connect with what happens to one of the characters, you're bored and are just waiting for the movie to finish.
