I generally like any Robert Downey Jr. movie. This was no exception. It did drag a bit at the 1:45 mark, but strengethened to the ending.
I laughed when I read the review that equated this to a "House" eposode, as that was the discussion in our group. Definately worth seeing, but not a best ever.

It was ok... The cinematography was a bit on the grungy side (thank you Guy), the story was rather predictable, and I felt strangely like I was watching an episode of House? Entertaining yes, a must see no.

Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams were positively superb. Sherlock Holmes is fast-paced, fun, and beautifully staged. The Victorian Era has never been more fun.

I'm not sure how accurate this movie, Sherlock Holmes, is to the book, but I do know that this action-packed movie is amazing for all. Robert Downey Jr. plays Sherlock very good, and all of the other actors have good chemistry with one another. There are very good and interesting scenes with well-thought out and unique fight scenes, where Sherlock thinks deeply on how to disable his opponent. Not to spoil the end, but it is great and still leaves me waiting for the sequel, which there should be, if they want to complete the plot. This movie was altogether well done and awesome in general. Have fun seeing this Sherlock Holmes!

After reading all of the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, I feel that this movie lived up to the framework and dynamics of the original books. It is non-stop action from beginning to end. Hope there are more movies to follow.

A fine movie, well acted with extraordinary attention to detail. The scoring by Hans Zimmer merits special mention. It's an intricate story so be sure to get your popcorn before the movie starts. This is not a flick I would have run out to see; it was my husband's turn to choose and it was a good pick.

From what I hear my friends say age group early 50's on down to my kids ages in their 20's..everyone loves the movie and want to see it again. I recommended my mom to go with her 70 year old age group and they all hated it and complained it was an action flick..lol Well I said you get what you pay for "ITS AN ACTION FLICK..LOL". So I guess it depends on if you like action or not..I thought is was good!

Yeah sure I've seen the critics but I've read every single one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories at least twice and I saw so many sentences and scenes that came from a wide variety of the tales that I was very impressed.
There was a slight period about two thirds of the way through that it dragged but that was not for long. London looked just about right I would estimate and the thrill of seeing 221b for "real" was a real high.
Well done and can't wait until the Prof. appears in the sequel. How will Germany look I wonder?

I don't know if it was the theatre or the movie but I had a difficult time understanding the dialog. the movie itself moved almost too quickly and was hard to follow. It was enjoyable but nothing that amazing.

This was, at best, a mediocre effort that did not come close to living up to all its publicity hype! Too much darkness, some decent action scenes, but a few overdone. Dialogue at times difficult to understand, perhaps intentionally so.
With caliber of the actors and the subject matter (Holmes), this film was disappointing.

I was not very impressed with this movie. It started out slow and I had an extremely difficult time trying to understand what Robert Downey Jr was saying as he mumbles in his English accent a lot. The premise of the movie is okay, but it takes so long to develop that I almost fell asleep. Spend your 10 dollars on something else.

But probably a bit too sophisticated for American audiences. Downey and Law are a terrific tandem as Holmes and Watson, the villian is good, good plot and pacing. The only problem is much of the humor went over the heads of the average American movie-going audience. My only problem with the cast was the beautiful Rachel McAdams, who is lovely to look at but her 'American' accent was a distraction throughout. The ending set up for an obvious sequel, and let's hope this movie does enough business to warrant a second adventure.

Sherlock Holmes did not live up to my expectations. Was looking forward to another great Robert Downey, Jr. movie (like Ironman). Was also disappointed in the chemistry between Robert Downey and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson. If you're a huge fan of Robert Downey Jr. or of the Sherlock Holmes storylines, you will probably enjoy the movie, even if it is slightly disappointing. Others could just wait until the DVD release and go see It's Complicated instead.

Great movie for Sherlock Holmes fans - true to books and character, with a raw edge, both in character and locale. I had a great time, but the pace was sometimes uneven - very fast, at times, and a few places it seemed a little slow.
