This was an entertaining and delightful movie. Meryl Streep is absolutely fantastic as Julia, but I found myself enjoying the 'Julie' part of the movie the most! Amy Adams character was very engaging. Enjoyable two hours!!

My daughter-in-law and I saw this and we so thoroughly enjoyed it we purchased several cookbooks by the women in the movie! I have had the original 1961 bookclub edition of the cookbook in the movie for about 23+ years! It has wonderful recipes.

My husband and I went to the matinee showing of this movie on Sunday morning. It was one of the best ways we could have spent the morning. The movie was fun and it was great to see this side of Julia Child. I used to watch her show on TV and she really wasn't the best 'chef', meaning she was clumsy and not perfect, but she sure was entertaining!

WHAT I FOUND WAS FUNNY WHEN WE WERE LEAVING MY HUSBAND EXCUSED HIMSELF AND PEOPLE WERE LEAVING, THERE WAS A YOUNG MAN WITH HIS WIFE AND HE SAYS TO HER " WE EAT CANNED VEGETABLES? IF SHE CAN DO IT SO CAN YOU!! " GOOD LUCK TO THEM.
AND HE'S RIGHT. SOME TAKE LONGER THAN OTHERS BUT IT'S SO MUCH BETTER FOR YOU.

This was WONDERFUL. Def worth the trip to the theater. Amy Adams and Meryl Streep are just fantastic. There are so many great scenes in this movie. I loved it and am actually going back to see it again. I just can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

At the 90 minute mark I was looking for the exit, my wife agreed that the movie was too long and they just could not find a way clear to bring it to an end. Should have waited to watch it at home where we could have turned it off.
I liked Julie and Julia I thought they both did a good job in acting out their roles it just had a lack luster ending. Wait for it to hit the rental rack.

We went with high expectations! The sets, costuming, light and Ms. Streep's acting (of course) all delivered. Where we were left wanting was in the actual process or development of the central characters as cooks! I gather that the central plot line Ms Ephron followed was development of the women and their mates. But the couple characters were lightly enough sketched that it felt more like a "soupçon" and not a satiating "bon repas."

This was a delightful movie that left you with a good feeling as you departed,not always the case with a lot of today's movies.This really exceeded our expectations. The casting was superb..everyone was outstanding, and Meryl Streep really played Julia to a "T". We watched Julia during her hayday, and Meryl was amazing in her portrayal. Amy Adams performance was equally superb.as were all of the supporting actors. The flow of the movie was amazing...I literally sat down to watch it, and the next thing I knew, the last scene was on the screen. I'm not a real critic, but the screenplay has to be right at the top. One of the few times in recent years that the audience actually applauded when the show was over. Overall a really great movie.

Finally Hollywood is listening and has gotten something right. I loved seeing the tenderness and beauty, as well as the life struggles between the two couples. Julie/Julia was both family friendly and marriage honoring. It was a pleasant surprise for me. I am so used to seeing Hollywood's idea of marriage being that of walking away when the times get tough. In this movie, we are allowed a privileged seat into the complexity of two different era's and two different marriages-both in which the couples chose to work together, stay together, and were examples to me of kindness and tenderness towards one another. A lesson for all of us married couples to view on the big screen, then take home and practice.

Throughly enjoyed! All the actors were great but this definitely was Oscar performances by Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.

Being a fan of Julia Child for many years via the television and her cookbooks I just had to see this movie. All I knew about her was her cooking and sense of humor. It was interesting to learn about how the first cookbook was created and published and what it took to get there. I loved her human and loving side, her simplicity and her appreciation of the most simple thing. Meryl Streep was so perfect, so great, the Best!
