This movie was very good. The first 15 minutes were a slow start, but afterwards it was action pack all the way. I went to the midnight movie and for me to stay awake the whole time is an indication that the movie was great. I liked the special effects. They were very realistic. I really enjoyed the 2012, for the most part. I thought that the special effects were amazing, and the unfolding of the story (writing) was well executed. I cared whether or not most of the actors/characters survived.
On the downside, this movie was about 30 minutes too long. I understand setting up the crisis quickly and answering questions as we go along, but the pacing was so nice at the beginning. To slow down so much as the story progressed killed the energy of the film, and caused me to care a little less with every passing minute.
Though the entire cast was pretty exceptional and convincing all around, standout performances for me were: Blu Mankuma, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oliver Platt, John Cusack, and Danny Glover.

This was by no doubt the most stupid "end of days" film I have ever seen. Yes, the computer generated special effects were spectacular, but the story line is so absurd that you don't care that the world is coming to an end. John Cusack and Danny Glover (both whom I respect immensely as actors) should be embarrassed by their involvement in this unimaginative and overextended tale. Total thumbs down, don't waste your money or time, trust me you have something better to do.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. AWESOME visual effects, great storyline and acting. I will admit it that it got a little predictable at the end, but am definitely not complaining! John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover and all supporting actors all gave great performances. Would definitely recommend and have already recommended to friends.

2012 its very visual. It was entertaining from beginning to end, they have a cliffhanger at every corner. I never saw so much destruction in one movie, but more than that its done with the most realistic effects I have seen. The storyline is not all that elaborated but compensated with more action.

I was so psyched to go see this movie and to see how Hollywood was going to destroy the world. Outside of Danny Glover, the actors in this movie were ehhh. The beginning action was great but then it completely dropped off with incredibly stupid events including a plot that completely drops off and becomes so predictable that you are no longer left in suspense. Bottom line: Save your $40.00 and wait till it comes out on DVD and rent it. 2012 presidential election will be more suspenseful than 2012 destruction of the world.

Let me start by saying the special effects were terrific and the movie was worth the price; I love disaster movies and love John Cusack! However - and without giving too much of the plot away - some of the leads who died were merely (worn out) plot driven. It would have made a more interesting movie to see less predictable outcomes chosen. All in all, though, it was well worth the price.

The first 1.5 hours were ok, but the last hour was really not good. Aside from the story line taking a huge turn, there was just so much that wasn't explained or addressed. A very good entertainer. Spectacular effects and the movie delivers by "powederizing" all the major landmarks. Script is highly predictable and you can very well say who is gonna die, cry or jump next. Has some long drawn sentimental and courage sequences towards the end that could have been avoided. I really enjoyed the movie. We went with another couple and they liked it as well. The special effects were awesome! I really enjoyed this movie. Great special effects! You really believed what you were seeing. There has been some controversy regarding the religious undertones in the movie but there really wasn't anything inappropriate or outrageous. Definitely worth seeing.

The movie was AWESOME, kept us on the edge of our seats the whole time, it was kind of long but absolutely great. It is the kind of movie that has you talking about it for days. I would love to go see it again.

Well, I have been waiting for this film for about 3 months now. The acting was pretty good, but some of the characters lines not so much. The end where Cusack tells his daughter not to be afraid and she says no more pull ups daddy. Are you kidding me? That was the last line to end the movie... There was a lot of overthetop action that definitely wouldn't happen in real life. As expected, it did pretty well because people feed off of action. This was an entertaining film and doesn't really require much of an IQ. The Day After Tomorrow was a much better apocalyptic movie.

I really enjoyed this action packed movie. Even though some of it was very unbelievable (the beginning scenes) it kept me (and husband and teenage kids) on the edge of our seats. The last hour was very captivating. A movie that has you walking away and talking about it for a few days is a great flm!!! It really makes you think. I recommend this movie.
