If you love wine and love California, you will drink this movie up! This movie is meant to be viewed with Wine and Cheese. The cast, simple story, and views that are out of this world make this movie! Alan Rickman gives a great performance as Spurrier, and even though you know the end, the way the story moves, you seem to forget by the time they get there! We have seen this more than once - it makes you want to visit Napa and Sonoma! Please see this movie!

The characters were perfectly chosen! They kept you into their story. You were rooting for them the whole movie long. Right after the movie, I went to the wine wholesellers and spent $200 on the vinards in the movie. And it was totaly worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit that even if I hadn't liked the movie I could have just watched Bo, the son of the vintner. Very good looking.
However the movie was fun and entertaining. My 68 yr old mom went with me and we enjoyed it.
The plot jumped around a bit but it never lost my attention and the story was engaging.
I would recommend it for adults and older teens.

Boomers familiar with California Wine Country & classic rock soundtrack of mid-70's will enjoy this flick. Timely soundtrack contains 4 Doobie Bros. contribs including appropriate & obscure "Spirit". Also noted is "Listen to the Music ", "Toulouse Street", and "China Grove". Perhaps no coincidence that the Bros. originated in nearby San Jose, CA, & long-time manager is Bruce Cohn of noted B.R. Cohn Winery of Sonoma. Professor Snape in role of Brit Wine Snob is bonus casting gem - nudge-nudge, wink-wink, say no more! Unfortunately, it will be difficult for this fine movie to harvest commercial success it deserves due to niche theme & lack of action/special effects that mindless public demands.

Although the pace can be slow at times, Bottle Shock is a superb movie. Great acting and beautiful scenery make the movie a must see. And as an American, it is good fun to see the French Wine Snobs defeated. As always with these kind of semi-biographical films, much leeway is taken with the truth and a little too much time is spent on the complexities of father-son relationships. However, the fine acting of Chris Pine, Alan Rickman and Freddy Rodriguez more than make up for any shortcomings in the storyline.

I really enjoyed Bottle Shock. Alan Rickman was superb as the British wine merchant whose idea for a French vs. California wine completion is the basis for the movie. Beautiful cinematography of the Napa Valley; an excellent supporting cast, especially Chris Pine and Freddy Rodriguez made this film easy and enjoyable to watch. My barometer for a movie is when I first look at my watch, and Bottle Shock kept me so entertained I didn't look at it till the movie was over.

Anyone who is familiar with the Judgment at Paris will love this film. Anyone who loves Napa wines will love this film. And to top it off, there is great acting and beautiful scenery. It makes you proud of American Ingenuity. One suggestion, although it is based on a true story, don’t let the poetic license it took, ruin the film.
