It has to be said this film was honest through and through, it's the story of hard work, tragedy, bitter circumstance, but mostly it's about hope and perserverance. if you've ever wondered about the rise and fall of musicians, this movie tells it all w/o filter. it's a tough life that can only be survived by friendship, passion and love. it is my hope that ppl will see this and realize rockstar living isn't all that it's cracked up to be, but that doesn't mean you give up on your dream-it just means you try harder. anvil made me laugh, cry and better understand human nature, go see Anvil!

The film features an old school heavy metal band from Toronto that never made it big and never gave up.
It's a great film. It's heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. The main characters have a joy of life and optimism that is rare to see. And its very funny.

I'm not usually a fan of "rock" movies, but the critics' reviews made me take a chance, and I'm glad that I did. The movie took you on an emotional ride from frustration, to laughter, to joy. There were times that you wanted to shout "Give it up, and grow up, guys," and yet Lips made you take his side and root for him in the end. He's a complex character, so likeable at times, and a pain in the neck and too full of himself at others. I empathized with Robb, and all that he tolerated in the name of friendship and a shared dream.

An interesting documentary tells the story of two lifelong friends who vowed to rock together forever when they were 14. Anvil has turned out several albums, yet they never achieved the great success they've desired. We find out why as the film progresses even though the noted rock bands can't figure it out. Lips has a great temper problem and although he's a perfectionist as all artists are, it tends to blow up in his face. I do recommend it for rock fans. Metal On Metal!
