Caine at his best

Michael Caine stars as the Amazing Clarence a retired magician who's on the brink of dementia. Edward (Bill Milner) is a beautiful young boy who lives in a nursing home that his parents run converting their home into one. Clarence comes into Edward's life and the two form a friendship. The title refers to Edward's habit of recording residents on their death beds and his interest in the paranormal. Clarence also helps him into coming out of his shell and vice-versa. Wider on 1 st May find it.

Metal heads clash

An interesting documentary tells the story of two lifelong friends who vowed to rock together forever when they were 14. Anvil has turned out several albums, yet they never achieved the great success they've desired. We find out why as the film progresses even though the noted rock bands can't figure it out. Lips has a great temper problem and although he's a perfectionist as all artists are, it tends to blow up in his face. I do recommend it for rock fans. Metal On Metal!

It's quite obvious from the trailer about the outcome of the story. What we never get to know, is why the character William wants to end his life. Inoperable cancer, or what we never find out. Although it's well acted the plot is very thin as we're never given reasons. Don't give us the direct reason just a few scattered clues to figure it out ourselves. Alas, this isn't done here. Wait to rent it instead.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

While Truffaut was considered a cinema master, his 1970 effort L'Enfant Sauvage is wonderful until the abrupt ending. The films best perf comes from Jean-Pierre Chargot who plays the Wild Child named Victor. He's found naked and alone living like a wild animal until he' civilised by Dr Itard played by the director. Unfortunately, there's not much of a resolution it just stops and is not satisfactory. Not even a crawl at the end tells what happened later. Also, too short.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

One of the most intense WWII films I've seen and director Edward Zwick, brings authenticity with is cast using accents. We get conflict between the brothers, action with the combat and suspense of what will happen to all concerned. All in all my choice for the Best Film of 2008! A great job by all.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
