The darkest, most complex and visually stunning super hero movie ever; this latest Batman adventure is a thrill ride that doesn't let up until the ending credits! We walked out of the theater shaking our heads in disbelief at Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. He doesn't just play the Joker- he BECOMES him. Christian Bale also does an excellent job playing the fallible, conflicted superhero struggling with protecting a city overidden with mobs, crime and batman-wannabe vigilantes. The cinematography is simply breath-taking. The Hong Kong sequence is especially stunning - it will knock your socks off! I recommend seeing it in IMAX format if at all possible- it is definitely worth the extra few bucks. Take my word for it!

Much more than a genre pic, this film does everything right: it is summer escapism, but the themes and performances will give you something to talk about days later. The story is allowed to develop fully. A feeling of dread grows throughout the movie until it becomes as creepy as the best horror flicks. This movie has great writing, great direction, and a great cast. Expect as much from the supporting characters as the leads.

TDK the IMAX experience surpasses all of it's well earned hype. It's one of those rare movies that remind us why we love movies in the first place.
If there's any draw back to the excellence of TDK, it can only be that it sets a whole new standard of greatness to which all movies from here on out will be held accountable, & I just don't believe that hoolywood is up to that challenge. Let's hope that I'm wrong.

Heath Ledger's performance was stunning. I am not a fan of his, and I feel that he deserves an Oscar for his performance. He completely stole the spotlight from Christian Bale in this movie. I"m really almost speechless about this movie. I really felt like I'd been transported to another world, and had lived there for such a long, engrossing period of time that it was only after leaving the theatre that I remembered "oh yeah, and that whole big thing happened in the beginning.... and that other thing happened, too". I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is the first TRULY epic film I've seen placed in a modern setting in years. When I say it makes me think of "Lawrence of Arabia", that's not to make any qualitative judgments, but simply to say that I felt like I LIVED in Gotham City in the same way I felt like I lived in the desert with T.E. Lawrence. So that, in and of itself, is a monumental achievement. And it's achieved not just by the use of IMAX cameras in a richly textured city like Chicago. It's also the result of a script that covered a vast amount of territory, both chronologically and emotionally, while never ever making you stop to look at your watch to see where the time went. It's a totally engrossing STORY, expertly translated into film. As much as an achievement as Heath Ledger's performance is as the Joker (which it is - he's tremendously good, and totally believable as Batman's equal), I think Christopher Nolan deserves a massive amount of credit for really taking film direction to a whole other level. No one has achieved such artistry in such a commercial film before, to my memory. Because the experience was so complete and satisfying, I'm barely able separate out individual elements to highlight, like all of the performances, across the board, or the amazing action sequences, and then, finally, the morality play. I don't know what else to say. I love this movie. The fact that it's a Batman movie is almost irrelevant.

I went to see this movie for the first time in the IMAX theatre here in Tampa. First off this movie was AMAZING! I was skeptical on how they were going to do the Harvey Dent/Two-Face character cause we had not really seen anything about it. But I was very suprised and happy with how they did everything with his character. Heath Ledger gave an inspiring performance as The Joker. I loved the sadistic nature of all the villians in the movie. I liked the cameo of the Scarecrow in the movie as well. There is not enough words for me to use to explain how good this movie was. Everyone is talking about Heath Ledger getting an Oscar for this role and you know what......I agree 110%.

Excellent cast, beautiful cinematography, great special effects (very little CGI, with real stunts instead). Good plot line with exciting, intense violence that moves it forward. Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger, steals the show with his dark, psychologically chilling portrayal of evil! Similar to the way you walked out of Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Sith, or Heat, The Dark Knight produces an odd mix of feelings.
The movie like all of the above is very dark, much more so than Batman Begins. And in an odd way you feel sort of down after watching it. Yet it's a down that has hope glimmering somewhere inside. I was somewhat taken off guard by the ending, as it so perfectly captures the feel of the entire movie. It’s darkness with hope; the threat of failure, yet still the possibility for success.
The movie is long, but when you think back over it there's nothing that should have been taken out. It's also one of those movies that DEFINITELY requires repeat viewings to soak it all in. I've seen it once, and I honestly don't feel qualified to give my opinion on it yet. Like eating at a magnificent restaurant; you know your taste buds can only appreciate a certain degree before the food is gone.
I would caution parents against letting their younger children see this one right away. I can't over emphasize that this is a dark crime drama, with a psychopath center stage. I would say, kids 15 years and up should be able to handle the darkness, but they definitely won't be able to appreciate it as much as older adults.

You can tell this epic was shot for IMAX. Simply amazing! High intensity, with action sequences to rival anything done before. Fight choreography, vehicle stunts... "badass," as one of the guys behind me exclaimed. Compelling character arcs, touching scenes, and truly scary moments. IMO, too intense for young children. Seriously, see it first and then decide. This was absolutely the best movie I have ever seen. There was no foul language, no gratuitous violence. Yes, it was dark and it addressed some social issues that would be a little heavy for young children, but I wouldn't have an problem taking older kids to go see it. Maggie Gylenhall (sp?) was a huge improvement over Katie Holmes, and all-in-all the acting was top notch across the board. I honestly didn't believe anyone was capable of creating such a complete, perfect film. It was engrossing from start to finish. I don't think I saw anyone get up the entire time. I just can't recommend it enough. Go see it.

Batman has never looked so good until you have seen this movie on the Imax theater. Christian Bale is an amazing actor and by far the best Batman. No one could have done a better job then Heath Ledger as "The Joker". The other actors who were casted in this movie also did a wonderful job.
This is one movie you do not want to miss on the big screen.

This movie lived up to its hype. Heath Ledger shines as the Joker and I would say more so than Jack Nicholson's Joker. I was surprised at this as I did not think Ledger could pull it off. Still I place the original Batman film above this one but not by much...The best film you'll see this year.

I saw this movie at the IMAX and it was great. It had the makings of a great movie, intertwining the old and the new Batman, making for very clever plots. The humor, was, well, funny! And of course it was action-packed, more so than any other Batman movie to date. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger both did a great job. I would definitely recommend this movie.
