This movie has great actors, plot and special effects. There's very little that could have been improved or made better for the story as it was presented. This movie has certainly tapped into a part of the Zeitgeist. Unfortunately, it's not a good part. Twenty years from now, I am certain that this movie will be the subject of many papers. After all, it's an apologetic for wiretapping, torture, and "good" people doing very bad things to stop a mad, chaotic terrorist.
This film offers no catharsis. The tension builds, but it never builds toward anything but more tension. On the whole, this was a two-and-a-half hour ordeal. I think the reason this movie is so well beloved can only be attributed to something like the Stockholm syndrome.

I've seen this both ways---and I have to say that IMAX "Experience" is the right way to describe it. I wasn't as focused on the plot when I saw the IMAX version. You just are "pulled in" and viscerally wowed by the action, so the story points are fuzzy (Who are thoses hostages? How many people did the DA "kill"?) It was only seeing it the second time on a normal screen that allowed me to figure out the narrative links.

This movie is excellent on so many different levels-- acting, cinematography, storyline, action-- you name it! Go see it! Heath Ledger is PHENOMENAL as the Joker, and you'll find yourself laughing at him, while at the same time completely distressed and uncomforatble by his darkness. He's pure evil, and makes Jack Nicholson's Joker look like a cardboard cut-out...and I'm a huge Nicholson fan! See it in IMAX if you can, but SEE IT!

I was totally blown away by this film. Christopher Nolan's reboot of a sagging franchise left me wanting to see more. I viewed this in the IMAX format, and I recommend seeing it this way, and found more of a gritty crime drama than a "superhero" flick. Heath Ledger's joker was understated, creepy, and believable. Bale is more than able to carry this film, and I was so glad to see Maggie Gyllenhal replace the wooden Katie Holmes. See it now!

We completely enjoyed the movie. The execution, action, story, Heath's role as joker...everything was perfect. Unlike other Super Hero movies...this one was more realistic - dark - Aslotutely thrilling.

This was an amazing movie. I saw it twice...once in IMAX and once in regular theater. IMO, the IMAX showing wasn't good enough to spend the extra $$ over the regular theater. The movie itself stands as one of the best comic book movies ever, with one of the best villians (Joker) to grace the big screen.

I wasn't disappointed with the movie. the actors did a great job. Bale,Ledger,Caine and Eckhart. The new 'Rachel' did a fairly good job as well. The movie has great action sequences and intense moments where you are literally gripping your seat. I felt the overall tone of the movie was dark- maybe appropriately so....definitely would recommend it to friends though be prepared to walk out with a rather uneasy feeling....(unlike batman begins)

This movie was the best Batman movie yet...best movie of the year too. My husband and I have been waiting a LONG time for a really good movie to come out and this is definitely it. Awesome characters, great cast, excellent on the IMAX! Maybe a little scary for the young ones (I would say 13 and up as rating suggests). Great movie and definitely worth the $$$

Their stories weren't meant to give us happy endings, but meant to show what endurance brings, much like this Dark Knight. I Loved the fact that Bale's Batman is real life, he gets hurt. It was a good story line but there was plenty of action and gasping moments. As for Ledger his performance reminded me of Pitt in 12 Monkeys. Very belivable Crazy Genius. Olman was terrific as well. Eckhart was a BIG improvment over Homes.

No question Heath Ledger stole this movie. Talk on Oscar nom are not out-of-line, posthumous or not. But over-all I felt The Dark Knight was good...not great.
Eckhart's character was not in line with what we expected from him. Dent became a raving lunatic and had me puzzled why he would take out on those that did not deserve it. Also the special-effect make-up on his face was too over done, although amazingly realistic.
The casting of Gyllenhaal was also a mistake. I did not buy into these two men head-over-heels for her. She's cute at best. Holmes was a better choice. Acting wise, she was good.
But my biggest critique is the length. I don't mine movies that are 2hrs+, but the Dark Knight suffered from scenes going on too long. The whole interrogation scene could have been either shortened or done away with altogether.
I also had some plausibility issues. How did the joker manage to blow up a hospital a precinct or potentially two ferry boats? Too much for him and his goons to pull off.
Warning...don't see this at City Center in White Plains' so-called IMAX theater. IT IS NOT! They charge a premium for a bigger-than-normal screen and call it an IMAX. I've been to plenty of IMAX movies, and this was not one of them. In fact I was surprise to find that they had an IMAX screen. I've been there plenty of times. This is the first I've heard of it and the last our ever go to it. Otherwise, the rest of the theaters there are great.

Went in expecting greatness and wasn't disappointed. Ledger's performance as the Joker is earth shaking! He by far leads the movie and Christian Bale as Batman is the supporting character. The world will miss having such a phenomenal artist in it with Heath Ledger gone.

Absolutely one of the best acting/action movies I have ever seen. The twists and turns of the story were palpable as was the Jokers awesome performance. Heath really stepped into that role and at the very least deserves a strong nomination. for BA. I really do have to get me one of those Batcycles someday.

What a Batman film should be! This is not a film made for children, it is violent, dark and scary. While the Joker is on screen, don't expect jokes, you'll feel uncomfortable at best. His opening Magic trick is the closest you'll get to a joke. If you have kids and they want to see the film. Please go and review it first before you take them to see it. The film is rated PG-13 for a reason. Just because it is based on a Comic Book doesn't mean that it is targeted toward young children. The Batman comic hasn't been geared toward children since the 50's anyway. This is an adult orientated film. The best I've heard so far is SAW meets Batman.

Even though it's a long movie, you won't feel bored any where... the only thing that I feel misssing is batman's intelligence... he is supposed to be the intelligent guy which in this movie looks kind of dumb... but overall the movie has a good plot and action involved. Very realistic when compared to other movies of its kind. If you are looking for a gr8 IMAX exp then you better be well ahead of time as you may end up getting very close to the screen :)

Dark Knight was a good movie, however, Heath stole the show. the movie had a bit too many plot twists & turns, and the ending wasn't nearly as dramatic as I expected. 2 Face stole Jokers thunder @ the end, and I think one villian was more than enough. they tried fitting to much into this movie, when they should've concentrated on the JOKER. Heath was by far the BEST actor in this film, and he deserved MORE time in the film. I didnt get enough of him. Heath was brilliant as the joker. the best "villian" of all time.

This movie was AMAZING. There is never a dull moment and I am so glad I decided to see it in the IMAX.. totally worth the extra few bucks.. If you have not seen this movie you are missing out!!!

Incredible camera wok- a truly action packed movie. After seeing it at an IMAX Theater I couldn’t imagine seeing it on a regular screen. Major stars acting was all superb. Just a great movie all around although the ending was a little flat.

Terrific movie....yes, it was somewhat dark, gloomy if one looks deep enough, but the action and special effects were what really grabbed me. For those alone, the film is woroth seeing! I saw it in IMAX and that made it even more spectacular.

Christian Bale is by far the BEST BatMan EVER! Heath Ledger (RIP) was an Outstanding Bad Guy! Michael Caine brought the best out of Alfred. Maggie Gyllenhaal was a Perfect Damsel in distress. Morgan Freeman brought the best morals out. He is an inspiration and is Great at what he does. Gary Oldman WOW I think he stole the show. Such a twist. Excellent, Breathtaking role played. KUDOS to all Only down side: movie didn't keep with 2-Face's correct dismemberment.

The best superhero movie I have ever seen. I agree that the movie could have ended in many spots and there is a point at which you wish it would end because it is so dark. Like a roller coster ride, there are many turns and twists that leave you on the edge of your seat. Heath Ledger is excellent as the Joker and Christian Bale is my favorite Batman!
