As a writer myself, I have a very critical eye to movie adaptations of novels. I was prepared to be disappointed.
Much of the allure of the novel stems from the long strings of passionate dialogue between these two unvconventional characters. I questioned the filmakers ability to convey the depth of emotion necessary.
They pulled it off for the most part. There were a few times when the audience laughed when the joke wasn't intentional and the stunt work could have used an infusion of adrenaline. Overall the movie brought forward the same integral themes and emotions from the book while staying true to the characters that Stephenie Meyer so carefully crafted.

I have been a fan of this series of books for a long time now, so I had been waiting anxiously for this movie to hit the theaters. My expectations were cautiously high because I never think a movie is better than the book. This was also true in this case, but if you go to the movie just for the entertainment factor and enjoy getting swept up in the movie, it's so much better than analyzing scene for scene, line for line the movie vs. the book. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have great chemistry and they brought the world of the Cullens to life very well on a tight budget. I was a little perturbed that they ADDED a few things that weren't in the books.
Great movie, really enjoyed it. I hope they do even better with the sequel!

"Twilight"'s producers have transformed a complex, first-person narrative full of supernatural happenings and emotional depth, into a film that captures the essence of the book. My only complaint is that at times the pacing seems too fast as the movie seeks to cover a lot of ground quickly. Non-readers may have trouble appreciating the depth of feeling between Bella and Edward, as well as some of the subtle interactions between other characters, but any viewer with an ounce or romance will swoon at the chemistry between Stewart and Pattinson. The movie also retains the book's innocence and sweetness, which is refreshing given the language and blatent sexuality evident in most teen movies.

An opinion of this movie will depend on whether you have read the book(s). Because I have I was able to fill in the storylines that the movie failed to provide. If you haven't, I would guess that you'll be left wondering. If you've read the books, you will mourn the loss of powerful character development. A higher budget is needed for the second in the series so the special effects are realistic. All characters (some more than others) could use acting classes. Having said all that, much of the sexual tension in the book IS brought to the screen. Continue and build on that in the next movie (without going too far - because Edward never did) the studio will ensure a third hit movie.

I went into this movie knowing that I would be disappointed that they left things out and they did but I still loved seeing the characters on screen and the love story was still true to what it was in the book. I think they were dead on with Robert Pattison as Edward he did a fantastic job. The chemistry between the two was wonderful and truley believable. I would reccomend this movie to both the people who read the series and those who didn't.

I have never heard of this book before and my school had been reading it but i was never interested. Once I saw this movie it is all I have been thinking about. This movie is amazing. It was so interesting and kept you on your seats. It had a romantic love story but also, the adventurous and scary parts to it too when they meet three other vampires who eat humans. The cullens do not and when Edward meets Bella its love at first sight. This movie is such a good movie. I would go see it again in a heart beat. I can't wait till the sequels come out and I am going to go buy the books.

Well first I have to start of by saying that I really enjoyed the movie. So much that I have allready seen it three times! I feel that the cast chosen played out well in the movie. The chemistry between Kristen and Rob was excellent. One of my fave scenes was the baseball game! My only real complaints with this movie was that I wish it was at least thirty minutes longer. Second that the screen writer added more detail about the love Edward and Bella shared, and a few more important lines from the book. That would have truly made it PERFECT! I cant wait for New Moon and I hope it out does the first one!! May it continue to make lots of money so that we can continue to see our favorite characters come to life.

I really enjoyed the movie. I loved the parts that were added to the movie that weren't in the book. The Baseball scene and the fight scene were the best. I look forward to someday owning this movie on DVD and seeing New Moon when it comes out.

The bottom line here is - if you've read the book, which I have - you will be sadly disappointed. The plot is out of sync from the book, the characters are undeveloped and poignant moments from the book are nonexistent. The acting is so-so. Robert Pattinson is wonderful as Edward, but Kristen Stewart who is perfect for the part in someways - doesn't come across as "in love". And Jacob's scene was so brief it almost wasn't worth it. Save your money for the DVD. Hopefully their will only be a trilogy of movies and the next installment will be better.

I thought the movie lacked the depth of the books. The characters were fantastic though. Some of the added scenes were not needed and could have been replaced by activities from the book instead. I don't think I could have followed the movie if I hadn't read the book.

I had to watch the movie twice to enjoy it. The reason I say this, is because I was annoyed at a few scences that were out of sync according to the novel. My feeling about the meadow was such a vital part of the book! This part should have emphazied more to the novel (Only) with stronger emotions of Bell falling in love with Edward. "Twilight" was all about falling in love. I just felt that some vital parts of the book we not added correctly. I only say this, because of being an older critic than a teenage girl. ( Trust me I have teenage daughter Who screams when she see Edward! Me TOO) So, if there to be sequels don't edit vital parts! On the other hand, I did see the movie twice and with an open mind I really LOVED the Movie.

I would have liked the movie more if I hadn't read the book. I think they left too much out and some of the scenes were down played. For example the meadow scene in the book is super romantic. It lasts 5 seconds in the movie.I do think that Rob Pattinson was an excellent Edward. I also really like the soundtrack.

If you read Twilight, I think you would most likely enjoy the movie. I enjoyed it, but also had a lot of criticizm. I wanted more. I didn't think that in the movie they didn't show Bella's and Edward's relationship grow enough. It was like, "hey, I'm a vampire," "oh... i love you"... And yet agian, i wanted more James.
I also didn't think that there was enough chemistry between Bella and Charlie. When Bella was yelling at Charlie in the book I cried because you saw how much it hurt Charlie.
In the movie he looked hurt but I didn't feel that it hurt....
But over all the movie was watchable and if you loved the book you would absolutely love the movie...
Plus i LOVED carlisle.!!!!!! i would see it agian because of him.

The movie was as many have said majorly different from the book, but as many people have said again, it is in many ways like the book. I was completely amused when Bella or Edward would say lines directly out of the book. The casting was different than I imagined but in every movie there are going to be characters that you do not completely agree with. I liked the way things worked out, even though they completely missed scenes from the book.
I hope you find this review helpful. I completely enjoyed the movie especially being a huge fan over the book because I was quite worried that things were going to be badly done, but it worked well.

There's a bunch of people who saw this movie that will tell you it's crap because it wasn't just like the book. But the changes in storyline, if anything, enhanced the movie.
I was afraid that I'd be bored (because I already read the book and know exactly what happens when), but the plot twists kept the movie from being a play-by-play of the book, and I loved it for that.
There were *so* many great scenes that I will definitely be seeing this one again the first chance I get.
If you haven't yet, go out and see Twilight.

This was my second time seeing the movie. The first was the midnight review with my 60 something mom, 30 something sister, 14 year old daughter and newphew and 20 year old daughter and neice and i am 40 something. We all loved it the first time. My 14 year old daughter and I had to see it again. We are bidding our time for number 3. It is truly the quickest 2 hours of my life. The movie flows so easily that every since of time disappears. Of course if you've read the book you may be slightly disappointed in the fact that they had to cut so much of the 500 pages out of the 2 hour movie. But what they are able to get condensed in to 2 hours and the few additiions that they make are great. I would recommend this to anyone!
