OMG!!!

i was expecting to hate this movie. i was unhappy with the casting and was very worried they would ruin my favorite parts of the book. all in all, i thought they did an amazing job and look forward to seeing the movie again.

Beautifully Shot and Directed Adpatation

I was enormously pleased with Hardwick's interpretation of Meyer's addictive work. The books, for me, are like Bella is to Edward, a drug. I am so personally invested in the novels that the anticipation of the movie version almost frightened me. The casting of the brooding, conflicted vampire, Edward Cullen, was spot-on. He more than embodies the sincere, passionate lover that is the Edward of my imagination. Kristen Stewart's Bella possesses an uncanny ability to silently portray Bella's inner dialogue that drives the novel. Aside from a few minor additions obviously interjected into the film to diversify it's demographic, the movie met my expectations as an excellently executed adaptation.

Hit and Miss...but worth seeing

The movie was okay, but if you have read the book (and who out there hasn't by now?) then you will find yourself at times confused and frustrated. Some of the "small" changes they made due to time constraints were odd. Bella and Edward definitely looked their parts, even if the development of their relationship, got considerably shortened in the movie. Charlie was great, too. My prize winner for the best part of the movie, however, goes to Taylor Lautner. He was not on screen much, but he did an awesome job as Jacob. (And no, I was not a member of Team Jacob, folks) Can't wait for the next movie to see what he does with more screen time!

This movie was much anticipated after I devoured the series! I thought that the movie portrayed a pretty accurate depiction of the book, though I must say I liked the book better. Edward and Bella had some great chemistry together in the movie...tho the Edward in the book didn't seem as "high school-ish" as he was in the movie. I can't wait for my other friends to finish the book so I can go back to the movie with them!

Great book-to-movie relationship

There's always problems with turning a book into a movie, but they did a really great job with Twilight. There were certain scenes I would have liked to have seen (when Bella passes out in bio and Edward carries her to the nurse), and details they might have thought unimportant (that the Cullen house is WHITE), but overall, the story wasn't changed, altered, or manipulated in any way to outrage fans, which was really great. The actors really got into their roles and delivered just the right amount of awkwardness to bring the character to life. I've already seen it twice, and will more than likely see it again.

I enjoyed the movie! I actually think in some ways it is better than the book. They had a bit of subplot going on as well as a lot of action scenes! I would have liked a little more character development from some but overall good movie!

Wooden acting, terrible pacing, and a total lack of tension added up to one of the most boring movies I've seen in a long time. I've read and enjoyed the book, but none of that charm translated onscreen. Overall I thought Edward did a passable job but was unconvincing as a vampire, and Bella was just twitchy and about as emotive as a plank. What a disappointment!

I enjoyed the movie having read the entire series, including the partial draft of Midnight Sun, but felt that the movie changed or omitted a lot that made the books so good. There is dazzle and the "meadow scene" left a lot to be desired in my opinion. However, I would most likely go see any sequels made.

This is so bad it was funny.
Edward was terrible!!!
I read the book and everyone knows it was much much better then the film however, they completely destroyed Edward.
Which sucks cause he looked so perfect!
He always looked like he was about to hurl.

But go see it and make your own ideas about it.

I think that Twilight perfectly followed the plot of the book. I feel that any of the critics reviewing this movie would really not be able to review it accurately without having prior knowledge of the story. I found this movie to be the perfect mix of danger, confusion, love, and uncertainty. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone, but mostly to those who have read the book, and girls ages 11 and up.

the movie captured many of the essential events from the book and the acting was wonderful (rosalie is a bigger pain in the movie than in the book lol). Everything was done to excellence.

I did not read the book, but my daughter did. Three or four times.

I thought this movie was excellent. I really enjoyed Robert Pattinson (who I thought was also really good in Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire) and Kristen Stewart. I thought their chemistry together was magical. In all honesty I didn't know what to expect going into the theater, but I was fully prepared to not like this movie at all, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Good teen movie

My 12 year old daughter and her friends had read the book and begged their mothers to take them to see Twilight. I hadn't read the book, and the other moms hadn't either. Overall, I thought the acting was only average, the makeup is more than a little hokey, but the storyline is good. It kept my interest and all the girls in the theatre were "ooing and awing" over everything Edward did. My daughter really liked the movie and it wasn't too scarey. Although, if your preteen is sensitive to scarey stuff, I'll warn you that my daughter has slept with the light on and music on low since she saw it.

If you love twilight and romance then this is the movie for you. I am not going to say that it is the best movie ever made. But to me it is my favorite movie, I would watch it again and again. Can't wait for the other movies to come out!!!

i loved this movie. It had exceeded my expectations and even my husband's! If i had enough money i would buy tickets for every showing til it was taken out of theaters!!! I loved all the books oh and if you hadn't known there is a 5th book called midnight sun that gives Edward's side of the story!

I thought this was a great movie. It stayed true to the book and I thought they did a great job with the storyline. I went with my daughter and a bunch of her friends and mine and we had all read the book and all agreed about thoroughly enjoying the movie. I absolutely love the books, and I have read them all multiple times. I knew the movie would not live up to the book's greatness, since there are many parts in the book that would be difficult to convey in a movie. But I can appreciate the movie for what it is, and I definately enjoyed it. I will be purchasing the movie as soon as it comes out and I will be there opening day for a sequel if there is one!

Twilight is definalty a great movie. There were a few parts that weren't the same as the book, and as i've read on some of the other reviews it didn't focus as much on them actually falling in love, which i agree with. Its all the more better if you've read the book but i guess its also a little disapponitng because things weren't exactly like it. Its a great movie. Best movie i've ever seen really. I just though that some of the things should have been changed around. but other than that its a fantastic movie. I can't wait for the next. If there is going to be one it better have the same characters. Well it was great and i think everyone should watch it. I can't wait for the dvd to come out, and next movie. IM READY TO GO SEE IT AGIAN.

Not only did the movie stick closely to the book, it brought in facets of the characters that I did not expect to see in the movie. I also loved the little inside jokes that only people who have read Twilight would think doubly funny. I believe that anyone would love this movie even if they haven't read the book yet... Plus, the Harry Potter trailer that accopanied it made me even more excited.

Looking forward to the sequels

The movie was actually much better than I anticipated, what with other novel adaptations. The casting was great, each character was right on. Obviously, squeezing the whole story into 2 hours is difficult, and that's props to the director and screenwriter. Adding comedy to it was a great idea and I especially loved Charlie's character. Taking into account the low budget, the effects are excusable, but changing little things about the script back to the original book would have made avid fans happier (meadow scene, Cullen house). I think I'll have to watch the movie again without all the screaming. I wish it was longer so Edward and Bella's love would progress more smoothly. Can't wait for the sequels!

Speaking as someone who enjoyed reading all four books during a single week and continued to read them over *third time's a charm! I was a bit disappointed that certain phrases were changed. The writing is what beautifies the characters the movies just gives us the statisfaction to live it over again. Over all we all understand that the whole book could not be included but it also didn't give enough time to show how they fell in love not lust... and i am sorry but Jasper was halarious with *fighting his thirst lol I do have to say it was nice being able to bring my daughter to a movie that didn't included either of us running when any kissing or beyond scenes came on.

I liked the movie a lot. It was a little off from the books but it did tell the story pretty accurately. What I did not like was the cheesy music that played through out the movie trying to set the scene. It was annoying as it sounded like a bad soap opera. Since it was announced yesterday that they were going to move forward with New Moon, I hope Summit Entertainment invests in a better sound track. Danny Elfman would be perfect.

Having read all 4 books in the Twilight series, as well as Meyer's other book, "The Host," I found the movie much slower than the books, and quite honestly, a bit of a disappointment. My recommendation is to quicken the pace a bit and spend a little more money on special effects. The remaining books in the series are a little bit quicker paced and have more action, so it will be imperative to have better special effects in those (if the books are made into movies).
If you haven't read the books then the movie is not as much of a disappointment. If you've read the books, you may be a little bored.

This movie was awesome for any reader of the Twilight series. If you haven't read the series, you may be missing out on some of the movie's greatness & find the story confusing, so read the book. Rob Pattinson makes an amazing Edward. Kristen Stewart's Bella was above average, but there is room for growth. Hardwicke had moments of brilliance in the movie, but also moments where it appeared that she was holding back making music more important than the story. The scenes with Edward and Bella talking should not have been muted for music, but were visually awesome.
