Ben Stein, a genius himself, and a very skilled interviewer, sets out to discover the reason a prominent academic is dismisssed from an prestigous American university for the mention of Intellectual Design.
He discovers the controversy behind the move to challenge Darwinism and in doing so, discovers this professor is not the only one to have suffered career reprisals for challenging Darwinism.
Stein's style is similar to Michael Myers and the picture the fim vividly protrays is that some scientists and academics are afraid to speak out. This movie provides plenty of food for thought.
Stein, in scratching the surface of this topic, increases public awareness of what is being taught, and more importantly , what is being supressed, in our schools.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great documentary. Balanced and fair. Bravo, Ben, for exposing what is taught in schools as fact, to be nothing more than a weak hypothesis. Accused of being a "right wing fundamentalist" movie, funny how so many in support of the mere POSSIBILITY of ID, who were not Christians or firm believers in ID, were interviewed. Have we forgotten what unbiased means? This is an issue of freedom to think, freedom to have an opinion. Those insistant on the belief that unequalled, intricate design does not demand a Designer were left spouting off their own circular, illogical idiocy. Then, after the movie was released, they were mad that they looked so utterly stupid. Dawkins revealed himself as bent on believing a lie rather than entertaining the truth, at any cost. A note to those like Dawkins and his ilk: There are more of "us" than you think.
I tell my children, 10 & 12, "NEVER, EVER be afraid to question a "theory" and always THINK things through to their most logical conclusion on your own. You need not be frightened of others beliefs if you know what YOU believe. In order to qualify as a science, something must be repeatable and tested. Darwinism is neither.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The documentary was great...I have often been frustrated because the information dealt with here has been squelched by the general scientific and academic communities. I noted that some who gave it a poor review were almost antagonistic. What is to be afraid of by hearing out one anothers views and hypotheses? I was deeply moved by the comments from the reviewer who had lived in Russia. They had witnessed the oppression Communism brought to those who thought differently from the party line in regards to Darwinism and evolution. This person understood the cost of not allowing free speech and thought. Thank you, all who worked to put this documentary together. You have done a very good thing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

My husband and I don't get out to too many movies. This one was worth going to. It was an eye-opener concerning the Intelligent Design/evolution debate (or lack of one). I learned a lot because it brought us up close and personal to the issue.
It definitely held my attention the whole movie and I left in a thoughtful mood.
Well done, Mr. Stein, I will be looking for more from you.

At one point in the documentary I was upset and confused. That was until Stein started asking the relevant questions and the DUH
answers given. I hope this documentary is viewed more, expecially by those who are questioning God's existance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Stein lets the Darwinists expose themselves and their biases with their own words. Something to watch for: all of the "religious fundamentalists" in the movie (proponents of ID) talk about scientific discoveries, while the Darwinists (supposed pragmatic scientists) all talk about religion. Ben Stein fleshes out Darwin's philosophy and takes the movie where it needs to go. The only minor drawback is that he doesn't explicitly connect the dots to Marxism, but it's not necessary to make the point.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

With Government, Media and Academia having invested decades in forwarding the Darwinist belief system, it took a person with conviction, clout and money to bring an opposing view to The Big Screen. Ben Stein brought an even-handed approach to the argument, and resisted the temptation to throw mindless jabs back at the mindless competition. His common-sense conversation, questioning and respectfully wry demeanor turned famed Athiest Richard Dawkins into a fumbling heap within 90 seconds. This is an honest documentary that's worth its price, and I already plan to give DVD copies as Christmas presents!

I finally feel like someone asked the questions that I have never been able to ask without attack. This documentary brings to light the double standards that exist in the scientific world.
