I thought the movie was excellently done. Hermione's role was portrayed wonderfully. There are a couple of minor things that they could have easily added, for example, explaining that if they say Voldemort's name, the Death Eaters could find them, and then having that actually occur as it did in the book.. Also, with Wormtail, they could have portrayed it with the hand choking him as it was in the book. Both of these suggestions would have made it easier for those who had not read the book. In spite of that, the movie was a great success.

Loved it overall. The movie was very true to the book.My main objection was the extended digitally altered vision Ron has of Harry and Hermoine making out in the nude. That was more than I really wanted my kids to see.

They need to put this movie franchise out of its misery. This is just a big long set up to the final flim. I like the books and didn't need to see this film. I really have nothing good to say about this movie. Wait for the discount theater or DVD.

Deathly Hallows, Part 1 is by far and away the best Potter film to date. For those who are true Potter fans, this is definitely the most satisfying and the most faithful adaptation. The adjustments they make are minor, and actually better serve the film and it's purpose; to start the process of saying goodbye, and to set up the final movie. The chemistry between the three - Harry, Ron, and Hermione - has never been better. The same can be said for their acting skills. I was impressed by how far they have come. There was not one awkward moment. I know to some, not having Hogwarts as a background for their exploits is hard to deal with, as well as having our three out on their own with no one but each other to lean on, but it's definitely necessary to show the desperate state their world is in. Hogwarts will return in the next one (with a vengeance!), and I am sure it will be just as epic as this one is. As soon as the movie ended, I wanted to rewind and watch again (I'm seeing it again today). This movie is likely to become an instant classic. There is so much to love in this movie - the drama, the action, the light-hearted moments, the intensity, and the moments of reflection - that I think anyone would enjoy watching it.

I attended the Midnight showing. It was alot of fun. The movie was excellnt. I have seen every Harry Potter Movie in Theatres, and this one was the best one. Everyone should go see it.

This was the best of the Harry Potter so far. It was well worth the wait for the midnight showing. I am spending the money to go see it again at the theaters. I am looking forward to the second half which I will also be waiting for to see at Midnight.

The movie was pretty good! Read the books when they came out, and from what i remember it was true to it. My brother reread book 7 last week and said that the movie left a lot out, but i didn't notice. The 2.5 hours flew by for me and i thought the ending was good. From reading the books this was the most logical intermission point and i can't wait for part II!

This movie definitely lived up to the standard set by the other movies in the series. It's not my favorite movie in the world, but I'm not entirely sure it's meant to be.
I wish they would have put a little more detail from the book; mostly information that would have made the story more cohesive.
Overall, I was entertained the whole time and was even surprised that I found myself laughing a lot.

This is the darkest and most emotionally mature of all the Harry Potter movies. They really did a great job translating a complicated book to the screen. The effects are spectacular and really intense. Daniel Radcliffe gives his most adult and realistic performance ever! Emma Watson more than holds her own, and Rupert Grint is a riot. This movie is not for little kids, though. There are a couple of scenes of semi-torture and the bad guys are really nasty!! But for the older kid, especially those who have grown up with the books for the last 10 years, this will more than meet everyone's expectations!!!

I am very fond of the Harry Potter books and have read them aloud to my children. I am doing so a second time my youngest.
The books are rich with details and far too long to be easy fodder for screen writers. I think this film did a very admirable job of capturing the heart of the story and the charecters, though much had to be left out.
The graphics and cinematography were quite fine. The actors seemed to strongly reflect the emotional state of the charecters described in the book, even where the book's description might have been a bit hard to grasp or the charecter's mindset was opaque.
Overall, fun, visaully appealing, true to a beloved story: highest marks!

So good I saw it again in less than twenty-four hours. Its action packed and so much fun. I had forgotten how much I love these characters and how much I missed them. I think they stayed pretty close to the book. I have even started to reread it just to make sure. Overall my favortie of the movies so far.

Even knowing that the second half of this movie will not be out until July, it was worth going to the midnight showing. Stayed fairly true to the book, the story was captivating, and really, it made me realize that yes, I will be in line for the midnight showing of part 2. The next half should be action-packed, more so than this one (hard to imagine, since this one just never stopped!), judging by where this one left off.

It is fascinting to see a book on film. The movie follows the book page by page. However, it was a restless movie. I hate to sound like a snob, but the last installment of HP was by far the worst yet (and I loved 1-6). I think the good reviews are coming from folks who WANT this movie to be epic. Sadly, it was nothing of the like. Because 1-6 was so fascinating, the standart for 7 was set low. At that point, HP fans were already sold. They were going to love 7 no matter what. The last episode of the series was drawn out and predictable. I think part 2 can only be better. Save the money and read the book again.

At times I enjoyed the movie, but for the most part I felt as if the story was rushed along, and if you hadn't read the books, you were likely to be lost on certain subjects. My friends who hadn't read the books had a lot of questions afterwards. There's just too much background information missing. Also, the events in the movie were not carried out accordingly to the book, more so than usual. The bigger picture events, however, were very well done and the visuals were great. I just wish it hadn't been so anti-climactic at times.

They stayed true to the story line in the book. A fast action pace. They were able to keep the good humor even with the darker story line a good credit to the writing and to the actors. Can't wait for part two.

I think the movie is on a par with the other preceeeding ones. The acting is about the same. Computer animation is very good. I think the best part of the movie is the love scene between Harry and Hermione in the forest. Hermione is developing really well !!!! Go see this movie, even though it is extremely long.

This was the first installment in the series that didn't have me wanting to shout at the screen " that's not how it happened in the book"! I think the director did a great job of including enough detail without making the movie drag. Will probably go see it again, which I never do.

The characters have evolved and matured since the first movie... that was good to see. I would have liked to gotten a better view of those things attacking the good guys.... too fast for my slow lame eyes. Overall, a great flick.

Great adaptation of the book! While some beloved scenes were missing, it is understandable that some parts had to be cut. The main plot points were left in and the main trio did a fantastic job. Dan Radcliffe in particular played Harry's emotional and terrifying journey in a subtle and understated manner. Just like the Harry of the book - calm and brave (with those little bouts of hot-headed anger). Bravo! I was just disappointed there were no "coming soon" scenes for part 2!

I have been reading these books since they first came out and I have been sorely disappointed with all of the movies because they were so far off the books and made for children. The Deathly Hallows is real and grimy just like the book. I absolutely loved it. I can't wait for the release of the second half so I can go and watch the 6 hour combination of the two!
