While I've enjoyed all of the HP movies, they've never really been able to capture the world of books. This one comes as close as it can. Breaking this movie into two parts was a stroke of genius. The pace is more leisurely, and they can take the time to really explore the characters and the subtleties of the plot. A special commendation to Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint for their stellar performances.

Definately one of the best HP movies so far. I cant wait for the next part to come out.
It follows true to the book and unlike the 5th where stuff was added this one doesn't add anything and keeps all of the important stuff.

After reading the book, the movie followed closely and there was enough detail to keep you interested but I hate it when a movie ends in the middle but understand that it would be hard to watch for another 2 and a half hours to get to the end without a break in the action.
Overall, excellent in every category, can hardly wait for part 2 to hit the street.

They hit the nail on the head with this movie. Fantastic acting, sets, etc. They stayed true to the book, and the parts they changed were generally for the better- the only exception was the scene in Draco's house where Hermione is being tortured, as they changed something (I won't give that away!) that I felt shouldn't have been. I saw it last night, and am already planning to see it at least once more in theaters. This is the best HP movie to date. LOVED every second of it, and hated to see it end.

It's easy to be completely swept into J.K. Rowling's masterpiece. The effects are magical, the actors are engaging, and the cinematography is spectacular. This movie epitomizes the reason I go to movie theaters.

This movie was very entertaining and wove the book topics well-espcially for kids 10+...except got slow with the "camping scenes". Good action,drama and affects. The characters of the mail three held it together. Might be confusing at times for non-book readers. The end had potential, but not that great. Can't wait for the finale!!!

As a faithful HP reader, I was blown away by the accuracy with which David Yates handled HP DH1. The action, the angst, the frightening sequences -- all done with 1st rate filming and effects. In short, an HP fan's dream. For those who haven't read...well, it could get a little slow in the middle, and a little frustrating. But the feelings you feel are only translated to you because of the actors and plot. Not to worry, you're SUPPOSED to feel anger and hopelessness. It's in the script. Some sequences could also be confusing for a non-reader, but overall, I think that the awesome filming and effects will make up for it. This movie is not for kids under 12 or 11, depending on how they take frightening images, death, and sensuality. A really grown up film compared to the previous HP's.

This movie will be enjoyed by almost everyone. I went into this movie with apprehension, not knowing how they'll do it. It's two parts so they better have made it close to the plot, and they did. The great special effects and the director of this movie along with an awesome soundtrack makes one of the best Harry Potter movies made.

By splitting it into two parts (and making this one 2.5 hours long), they were better able to make the movie far more cohesive with the novel than 6 was.

This has been another Harry Potter movie that was well-executed and beautifully crafted! I bought tickets for all of my friends to watch and we were breathless by the end of the film. I have to say that I was pleased to note that the main points of the story were pointed out and exactly illustrated as I visioned in the novel. The entire film managed to combine romance, humor, psychological thriller, suspense, and drama with neither genre outweighing the other. At the end, the cliffhanger was perfectly placed which makes me anxiously want to watch Part 2 of The Deathly Hallows but at the same time, a bit sad that this incredible series is almost at its end.

For me, too much was left out. But it always is. There are so many incrediable details in the writing that give it all so much more depth and understanding. Without which it looses it's connectivity, history and meaning. Perhaps this is what comes from having read all the books numerous times. Her details are so well thought out it took a number of times for it all to really connect. I have a few friends who never read the books or read a few. When we watch the movies we pause quit a bit so I can explain things that don't make sense for them. I wonder for all those folks out there who do not have the history of say Voldermorts childhood the way it goes into detail of his mother's beginnings & what she went thru in life and how he ended up in the orphanage. The ring in the family history. So much is not really gotten into in the movies. Yet to see them on the screen is not to be missed. I am grateful they made the films. They have all grown in their acting and cohesiveness that really makes the movie. It was so fast, with a bit more detail and a little lingering it would have added a lot for me. Look at Lord of the Rings. They and Potter are epic works of art and deserve the time. I would sit in a three hour Potter movie to have more of the details. Bring it on. A lot to savor before July.

This installment of Harry Potter was just awesome! There were some scenes that the movie could have done without, but overall it was amazing! They kept true to the book (mostly) and it was just visually stunning. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. Can't wait for part two!

Absolutely loved this movie. Of all the movies, I believe this one stuck closest to the plot of the book. If you are not a Harry Potter fan, or have not read the books, I would not reccomend seeing the movie. The plot could be viewed as slightly dry if you have no background on what's going on. Some of the characters and objects in the film are not explained and could be confusing to someone who simply watches the movies.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm so glad! It stayed mostly true to the book. But one thing it left out should definitely have been included--Harry should have explained to Ron how much Hermione had missed him and how he (Harry) loves her like a sister. Omitting that could cause ambiguity in those who may not have read the book. And they should have talked about the diadem at the Lovegoods' house to set up the background for what happens later.
Overall--I didn't realize the 2 1/2 hours were over until the credits started to roll! I was surprised it was already the end of this first part, but that's where I thought it should break so, well done!!!!

I thought the movie was a great adaptation of the book. It depicted the harshness of the environments (great cinematography) that Harry, Hermione and Ron were thrust in as well as capturing the stress that the characters were enduring. A huge "CONGRATULATIONS!!!" to all who were involved and I do so anticipate the arrival of the final movie, though I will be saddened that the ride is over. Good job!!!

All I have to say is AMAZING! It followed the book very well, and was different, in a good way.
Because the movie doesn't take place at Hogwarts, viewers are thrown a little off balance, and certain parts were inevitably sad. Like, start to tear up in your seat sad. T.T
But the conclusion was satisfying, nothing like how the first LotR movie was cut off. Here, this movie had a great cliffhanger, making you willing to sit through three more hours of the movie!
Summed up in one word? Amazing.

If the title doesn't tell you, then I honestly don't know what will. The movie was excellent. I really only have one problem with it, and that was the minor details that, like all good movies based on a novel, weren't there. But the movie still flowed smoothly, and all the necessary characters were there. A definite must-see.

I love Harry Potter movies and this one blew me away. Harry looks about the same but older and he was great. The only bad part was the end, wasnt the best ending. But you know what, this was part 1 and it didnt need a good ending. Part 2 is going to be epic too!
