Yes, there is more story here than action... But this is a GREAT film. It sets up the final film perfectly. If you are a true Potter film fan, then you will love this movie!!

It was a good movie, but was sort of let down. This movie wasn't as good as the previous. The ambiance was below their normal standards and their was a lot of slow parts in the movie. Yet, if you are a Harry Potter fan, you should really see it.

The saga of Harry Potter books and movies is coming to an end and Part I only inflamed my desires for the finale. The Deathly Hallows book had so much information in it and Part I did a great job in giving a lot of that information to us in scenery, readings and script. Can't beat a movie that enhances a book, that's the art.
Action, teens coming into their own and Ron becoming the true friend as we all knew he would.

As a huge fan of the books, I'm pleased that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 follows the book better than the previous three movies have. It gets a B+ rating from me, however. The movie seems very rushed in places. It almost feels as if the movie should have been split into three or four films. It is obvious that the writers are scrambling to try to explain important characters that have been left out of the last several movies. Bill, Ron Weasley's older brother, is just now introduced in this film and it is only in passing before there is all of a sudden a wedding for him and Fleur. Fleur hasn't been seen since the fourth movie and she isn't really given any explanation as to who she is and why she is important. Dobby reappears at Number 12, Grimauld Place, in a made up situation. I was curious to see how in the world they would bring him back in after being absent for the past four movies. I'm not convinced that somebody who has only watched the movies will understand the relationship Harry and Dobby had and why it was so tragic that he got killed. His death scene does bring about some emotion, but the scene almost feels cheezy. On a more positive note, the cinematography is great. The film is enjoyable to watch, and it is worth sitting through. I can't wait for the second part next year.

I enjoyed the movie but a friend of mine who also went with me found it a little slow. I had read the series so I was prepared for this to be the action leading to the finale.

Loved this movie! The book was so incredible that I wasn't sure the movie would be able to do it justice - but it really was fantastic. And I loved the place they decided to end it! My daughter came home and re-read the second half of the book right away! Can't wait till July for Part 2!

Dark and Emotional. The latest cinematic adventure in the Harry Potter saga has it all. It's funny, sad, scary and it will leave you on the edge of your seat for the final chapter (Due for release in July of 2011). As an adult reader and watcher of Harry Potter I was extremely pleased how close to the source material they were able to stay. I think David Yates was an exceptional choice for the Director. He understands the characters and makes the audience feel involved in the perils and heartache. The two and a half hours seemed to pass far too quickly. I will see this in the theater again... and maybe thrice!

I loved it so much I saw it twice! Yeah I will admit that there were a few spots that were slow, but hey it was a good representation of the first half of the book. Keep in mind, the first half of the book/movie builds to the last half. So don't be expecting major wandfights, that's the second half.

I was not sure how they could make a movie that reflected the book. They did it! It was riveting. Powerful acting and storyline. Exciting and intensely emotional. NOT a movie for a little kids. They won't understand it and it's too intense. I believe it's the best Potter movie yet. Can't wait for part 2. These kids grew up and can REALLY act.

I thought the movie portrayed the darkness and despair well. Some great touching shots. You could hear a pin drop at the ending. This is one I will watch over and over again. Looking forward to the 2nd part with mixed feelings.

The movie definitely sets you up for the final chapter. It is not recommended for kids under 13. This is a dark side to wizardry. It has some disturbing scenes that would frighten a young child. Gone are the days of the juvenile Harry and gang. These are savvy young adults fighting some pretty scarry beings. The movie did not disappoint on special effects. Fabulous. You had to have followed all the other books/movies in order to pick up on the characters and the action.

I loved it. I just re read the entire series, and watched all the movies to get into the experience, and they really out did themselves on this particular movie. I left very satisfied, and at the same time i was itching to see the next movie. They really ended in the perfect spot, and covered a lot of bases in the mean time to dove tail with the book. I just want to go back and watch it right now.

It's brilliant :] the only thing is that I kept checking my watch to try and estimate where the cut-off would be. I'd like to see it again to really enjoy it vs. attempting to predict the ending.

Deathly Hallows in the Harry Potter genre was great! Some of the scenes were word for word right out of the book, and others took a bit more liberty with drama, but it all worked for me. I am a big fan of the books, and the movies.
