I loved the movie. I am glad the last book is split in two parts and I can't wait for the second half. I will be seeing this movie a second time. My kids who grew up reading Harry loved it too!

There are absolutely no words to describe just how much I enjoyed this movie. I had very high expectations for it and I was blown away. Yes, many areas didn't stay true to the book but if we enter the theater with negative thoughts we're going to leave unhappy. The movie was emotional and comedic. I found myself tearing up and then laughing many times. It was truly an amazing movie. By the first scene I knew it was going to be an emotional roller coaster. The ending had to be one of the most epic scenes in the Harry Potter series yet. I didn't want to leave. I was in awe. Everything was tastefully done. The actors were flawless. I am proud of the movie, and for being someone who's stuck by Harry from the very beginning, I am happy.

The Character of this great film

This movie will have your hair stand on end and keep you wanting more and more as the characters Harry, Hermione, and Ron go on this epic journey to find and destroy the pieces of Lord Voldemort.

Keep your eyes and ears close to the screen because if you blink... You will miss out on every precise detail that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Awesome movie, Minor problems

While I agree with most that this movie was wonderful and probably the truest to the book since the first two, there were a few things that caught me off guard. The adam/eve style practically sex scene was unnecessary and only served for fan service. There were a couple of times where they were showing skin just because they had the pg-13 rating so they could. (radcliffe in the seven potters scene and ginny before the wedding). Aside from that, the lighting and style of the entire film are interesting, shooting from a more independent style, the focus on the characters is rather refreshing and the fact that they are not beating you over the head with the plot of the storyline is nice. HP7 part 1 did a nice job back tracking and explaining some things that they didn't cover in the 6th movie and also had some nice acting moments by Radcliffe, Grint and Watson which makes spending most of the movie following them around on their camping adventure not as bad as one might think. Many Harry/Hermoine scenes stole the movie, including a dance scene, a scene at a church in godrics hollow, and a scene in the forest, Both actors brought surprising life and depth to their characters in this film. Watson in particular had a few moving scenes, where she is tortured and a scene at the beginning with her parents. Though most a serious movie with a good amount of action, the writers were sure to bring in humor at just the right times to relieve the stress both the characters and audience feel from sitting through a two and a half hour film about darkness, hope/hopelessness and war. Overall the movie is definitely one of, if not the best in the franchise thus far and sets up part 2, the ultimate finale excellently. It is easy to see that not only the cast, but everyone working on the film has grown and finally hit their stride when it comes to the world of Potter.

The Best in The Series

The beginning of the end of the harry potter movies was that of epic proportions. The movie did an amazing job of retelling the book much more than that of the other 6 movies, which made me very happy that they split it into two parts. The acting was phenomenal, The cinematography was amazing, and the action scenes felt pretty intense. This movie is expected to be slower than that of the second part but that is because the true climax has not happened yet. This movie was all around amazing harry potter fan or not.

I really enjoyed it and I am so glad they split it into 2 parts! Almost every scene I was hoping would be in the movie was there. They actually made some improvements (Hedwig). Hermione & Harry's pixar type partial nudity & snogging had an ick factor for a few people. But there were several positive outbursts and rounds of applause from the crowd throughout the movie. People who read the books and people who did not enjoyed it equally, in our group.

One word: BRILLIANT!! This whole movie was fantastic, they brought the book to life. I admit I almost burst out crying at times but held myself together. All 3 actors did a wonderful job of showing just the right emotion to every scene, the sets the shots were perfect every scene was done so well! Definately will see it again...

With each new Harry Potter movie, the story line diverts farther from the books. The deviation is now so great they might as well pick a new name. It is certainly no longer Harry Potter.

I am an avid Harry Potter fan but I was disappointed that Warner Brothers split the movie into two parts. The movie could have been a half hour longer and told the entire seventh book. Also, the nudity between Harry and Hermione - come on. People in the theater laughed. Like I said, I love Harry Potter so I am willing to overlook some things. But if you haven't read the books, don't go see this movie.

They took liberties

I have to say, they took a lot of liberties with this movie but it was definitely better than number 6...
The real negative of this movie is that they try to force a dark emotion on the film but it comes out too light compared to the books or the other progressively darker movies...
All in all still pretty good albeit rushed through action scenes to entirely too long tiresome close up shots of the actors trying to look moody and emo... didnt buy it...
still you should see it...

I loved it. It was true to the spirit of the book for certain. I can see how it could be hard to follow in parts for those who hadn't read any of the books. My husband was a bit lost where the lingo was concerned. He did like it even still.

I heard a lot of the people in the row behind me complaining about how the movie was boring and extremely slow. well HELLO, reality check, what did you expect? J.K. Rowling did an amazing job of creating an elaborate story that runs very deep. There had to be at least one movie that took the time to tie the loose strings together. I think this movie did that extremely well while still keeping the magic, mystery, and excitement alive. Harry Potter forever<3

I was so impressed, being an avid HP book fan, that they stuck so closely to the book. I feel like it is possible that people who hadn't read the books may have thought that it was stalled in a few places...but I thought that it was just awesome. I am so glad, that even though they didn't have Dudley thank Harry in the beginning, they showed the Dursleys, which i was afraid that they were going to leave out. They also showed Hermione's parents and brought all of the things together, so that the kids could go do what they needed to do. I also love the fact that they had Creecher and Dobbie in this. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! I can't wait for the final movie!!

I'm almost always disappointed with the Harry movies, because the books are SO much better. But once I watch the movie a few times, I come to love it. But not this one. FIRST TIME viewing, I loved ti. It was worth the wait (and we've been anxiously waiting for this one for a long time). Excellent adaptation from the book. Doby the house elf was excellent.

I'd have to say this, out of all of the HP movies, have left out the least amount of details from the book. The film catches the details extremely well. I love this movie!

I've read all the books and seen all the other Harry Potter movies. Deathly Hallows is a wonderful movie. It was great seeing all the characters again. I was only sorry it wasn't over the entire book, and we have to wait until next summer for the final movie. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you won't be disappointed in this one!

Obviously the best of all HP movies thus far, which is to be expected as budgets get bigger, actors get better, etc. But regardless of all of the usual expectations... this movie was absolutely amazing. I really wish it wasn't made into two parts, because I could have easily sat in the theater for another 2 1/2 hours with no qualms. Everyone needs to see this movie, effects, acting, COMEDY, everything... all around phenomenal. The characters actually seem more... human... than fictional as well, which takes the 'amazing' to a whole new level.

Good adaptation of the book

All in all, a fairly good adaptation from the book. Normally the director, David Yates, seems to feel a need to re-write the books, this time, he kept that urge to a minimum and the result is one of the best in the series. The first of his films that I have enjoyed without wincing at all the unnecessary and unwanted changes.

Surprises - some good, some not

DH1 surprised me with the frequency and quality of comedic moments. The actors have really worked on their timing and it shows, particularly in scenes with Rupert Grint. Dialogue was wittier and more crisp than in past HP movies. The negative surprise was the number of times I found myself checking my watch and looking around the theater. HP books are burning page-turners, and the movies should be no less. Several scenes should have been edited considerably - the pace in them was like molasses. Overall, however, it was worth seeing.

Uber close to book except for a few details, as usual, that didn't have to be altered. The soundtrack was good and I felt the feel mirrored how I felt as I read it, which was a pleasant surprise. :) It left me very anxious for the second part. By the way..two parts=such a great idea. period.
