The movie covered more of the book than I thought it would. It helps that they are covering it in two parts. The actors of this series have gotten better with every movie. The moments of comic relief were wonderful. Can't wait for Part 2 in July. i would recommend this o anyone who is a fan of Harry Potter.

Climatic...Intense...humorous...all the elements that make the Potter films. I am very excited for the next film. Quite honestly though I would have preferred the whole film with an intermission I was never good at waiting.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I is the most mature of the series to date. The characters are more developed and the story compelling. This movie isn't as dark as others yet the story and times are quite stormy for the characters. The trio of protagonists have matured and face the challenges with humor and bravery. The movie's pace is brisk despite that there is no unusual or noteworthy special effects. It is a cohesive stand alone story despite that is it only one half of the final book in the series. The magic world of Harry Potter remains gripping and leaves the audience wanting more. There are one or two snake scenes that could leave younger viewers traumatized. Excellent and highly recommended.

To have made the final harry Potter book into one movie would have necessitated editing so many powerful plot-building, character-defining scenes it would have trivialized the entire epic ending. This movie, in that it is only the first part of the last book, is exactly what it should have been... growing tension between Good and Evil. Many seemingly weak and underestimated characters show amazing strength and courage. Evil appears more and more desperate - on the verge of spiraling out of control. And our heroes overcome their individual weaknesses and inner demons as they continue.... BRAVO.

This was a much darker movie than past examples, and I wasn't too fond of the make-out scene between Harry and Hermione-the movie would've been just as good without that nonesense-stick to the book is what I'd suggest!

I feel as though "enjoyed" is the wrong word to describe my feelings on this movie given its tone. Instead I'll say I thought it was a strong, well done addition to the Harry Potter movie series.
The story is fairly relentlessly dark in this volume and is not a place for someone new to the series to start, but most fans will be pleased.

This movie was really good. It stuck close to the books and was presented in a really engrossing way.
However, if you are expecting a beginning, a middle and an end. You will get an amazing beginnning and the start of a middle. Do not expect to come out feeling resolved. This is truly a first half of a movie. Do not think otherwise and you will love it too.

As true to the book as you can be and still make a 2 1/2 hour movie. Still delivered all important parts and put them together smoothly. Great character development, and transition to 'adulthood'. Going to go back and see it again this weekend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I think the screenwriters did a great job adapting it from the book. That does not imply, however, that is follows the book exactly. As with all the HP movies, the main points, sequences and order of events are mostly in-tact with modifications necessary to simplify things and/or keep continuity with the other movies and the fact that some of the less vital topics were removed. It was a good mix of action and drama with come comedic moments thrown in. It is not (and was never meant to be) a stand-alone movie, however. If you see Part 1, you will need to see part 2 to get any conclusion/resolution.

Harry Potter and the Derathly Hallows Part 1 is a very different kind of movie from any of the Harry Potter films that precede it. There are no scenes set at Hogwarts, and many familiar characters are only on screne for a few seconds or not at all. Of course this is expected by those who read the book, but can come as a disappointment to those who know only the films.
I, having read the book, was disappointed in the opening that the filmakers could not take 30 seconds to show the touching "good bye" scene with the Dursley's. I was disappointed that the filmakers had to resort to the tired and nausiating hollywood gimik of using a handheld camera during the chase through the woods with quick cuts so you can't even follow whats happening. Why do you hollywood morons think this makes the viewer feel part of the action when all it does is make us sick and robbed. And finally, I was disappointed at the final scene when the filmakers failed to explain whose house the main characters were burying Dobby at. The filmaker couldn't add 2 more characters to the scene to clear that up?
Of course, HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, is a film most die hard fans will blindly love. But just as with the previous film, many fans of the beloved first 5 films will be disappointed with this installment, as they were with the previous.

Deathly Hallows felt stretched. It's like the entire storyline (of Part 1 and Part 2) would have made one really great finale to the epic series, but the Producers wanted to take our money twice, so they had to stretch the storyline of the first "half" to make it feature length.

I believe this to be probably the best of the series as far as action is concerned. There is also a more mature theme, as we have seen the characters grow up, with more adult like situations. Such as the part with Harry and Hermione (which I don't necessarily agree with the "nude" portion of it). I do however feel a lot of loose ends are in the part one which will hopefully be addressed in the final movie.
