I am an avid Harry Potter fan, I've read the books and watched all the rest of the movies so many times that I've lost count, so of course I had high expectations. The book is so filled with information, I thought it was likely that a lot would be removed. There were a few changes, but only things that weren't very important to the plot. Although I wish they would have had wormtail's silver hand kill him like in the book. I laughed, I cried, i jumped, and I worried! Sure to keep you on an emotional roller coaster ride! Amazing!

The latest installment of the Harry Potter sequel was good, but it left me wanting more.
As a Harry Potter fan who has read all of the books and seen all of the earlier movies, I am both looking forward to and dreading the end of the series.
In the Deathly Hallows Part I, Voldemort is gathering his legion around him, preparing to eliminate Harry, and characters we have come to know and love are going to get in the way.
Action, humor, and sadness are mixed in the right proportions to build to the climax film expected next year. Can't wait!

DH1 is the first Harry since Sorcerer's Stone that has given Harry, Hermione and Ron chances to act and they rose to the challenge admirably. The direction was outstanding overall, though the frustration and desperate straits of our three heroes as they starved and struggled to determine how to take their next step was glossed over. Rowling's stories need no embellishment - they are usually lessened when attempted - and this portion stays very close to the book. To me the original movie is one of the all-time best; placing second to it is not a negative. The scenery is exquisite; the attention to detail and creativity demonstrated in Malfoy's estate and at the Ministry was top quality. Deathly Hallows 1 is an excellent, sensitive movie and sets the table for a magnificent conclusion.

It's been a long journey for "the boy who lived" under the stairs with his cast iron figurines... as depicted in one of my favorite scenes in the opening of the Deathly Hallows. A very foreboding time from such humble beginnings! There's danger, humor and heart in this movie but you sometimes miss the magical wonder that was in the first couple of films. While trying to keep the movie going at roller coaster pace, they glaze over some small details like... why is Harry carrying around a piece of mirror in his sock (only if you read the book do you know why) and Mad Eye Moody deserved a better farewell, but like all book to movies you must balance the relevant with what moves the story along, and the movie does that extremely well. David Yates not being my first choice of directors for this MEGA franchise has come into his own. While not feeling like a stand alone movie, they do an amazing job leaving you at the conclusion part 1 wanting more!

Movie had no character or plot development. Earlier HP movies had audiences enchanted by their clever and fast-moving story line. Not this time. Reminded me of an HBO series where a 20 minute story was dragged out to 60 minutes. Only multiply by 2 1/2.

If the wizarding world were real, this would be it!
Harry Potter started out being fanciful and quite an adventure. Now, we've come a long way into adulthood. And, it has been a great ride preparing Harry and his friends for the final battle. Things are getting difficult now, and in the Deathly Hallows you feel the darkness and the despair. Harry feels the weight of his responsibilities and begins (again) to rise to the challenge. I can't wait to see part 2 next July.

More grown up than the other movies in a good way. Director made some risky, albeit successful decisions when he combined different cinematography styles such as the computer generated Dobby scenes, the Grimm's fairytale like cartoon, the futuristic burned out muggle trailer park, and the lovely panoramic views of the countryside and seaside.

As a huge fan of both the Harry Potter books and the movies, my expectations are always high. This movie did not disappoint. Although there were, in retrospect, times when there seemed to be little going on, I found myself completely shocked when the credits began to roll at the end. Fastest 2.5 hours of my life!
The characters have developed so beautifully, the scenery was breathtaking, the action was superb. All in all, a great addition to the series and one that made all the people in my party anxious for Part II.

After "watching" Harry, Ron and Hermione "grow up" through these movies, it is a bit bittersweet knowing that this is the "end" of their story. But this movie was a great way to tell the beginning of that end! They changed a few parts but for the most part it stayed true to the book. The action scenes were great and the makers did a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, not knowing what was going to lunge at you next! I would definitely reccomend it and plan on going back to see it again!

(I will note that I have only read books 1 and 2, but have seen all of the movies.)
I really loved the special effects and the feeling of an "epic" storyline. It was like an "epic adventure" style movie with the harry potter characters, but didn't exactly feel like Harry Potter to me. This is probably because of the lack of Hogwarts. Nonetheless, it was a great film and I truly enjoyed it.

Based on the trailers, this seemed to follow the book well, so I was expecting a great film. I was a little disappointed that some crucial elements were left out - I'm wondering how those elements will be explained in part 2. All in all - I think this is the best film in the series since Sorcerer's Stone.

Overall I think the movie was ok but not as good as the trailers made it look. I have watched all the Harry Potter movies, and in order of how great this movie was i would say it probably earned 2nd to last. which is not good for being the final chapter. Also there was not alot of talking, so you found yourself in alot of awkward silent moments and it was also all over the place, jumping from place to place. Kind of confusing at moments. On a good note I liked that you got to see more emotion and personal life.

Deathly Hallows Pt 1 is the darkest yet of the Potter films. There is great character and plot development, serious action, and overall, dark and dreary undertones. The three principle actors did a wondeful job in this film, in particular, Emma Watson's performance was her best yet. Daneil Radcliffe and Rupert Grint also exceeded expectations. Only catch-- if you haven't read the books or seen the other movies, you'll be totally lost. I even recommend a brush up for people who have seen the previous movies (if you read the books, you probably remember much more); he movie spends almost no time catching us up.

I have read all the books and am an avid Harry Potter fan. I love all the movies even if some of them don't truly follow the books.
I found this movie fasinating. I loved every minute of it. I took my son and my boyfriend and my son loved the movie as well where my booyfriend felt the moved was very slow.

If you have read the books you are going to LOVE the movie. If you have not read the books but have followed the movies you will probably really like this movie as well. If you are not a Harry Potter fan you will probably not like this movie and will find the movie very slow and borring.
