This movie is the first Harry Potter film that successfully followed the plot lines of the book. There weren't any made up battle scenes or forgotten events. The film did an excellent job of portraying the confusion, frustration, and resentment that Ron, Hermione, and Harry face on their search for the Horcruxes and the Hallows. There were some points of the movie where you literally felt like you were reading the book. Voldemort was missing at the Godric Hollow scene, but other than that, it was almost perfect! If you read the books, you will LOVE this movie.

While there were some great moments, I was expecting a better movie. It moved very slow most of the time. This movie did not really further the story much in my mind. The story could have easily been told in half the time. It is clear that the makers stretched this movie to keep the Harry Potter money machine going longer. I feel cheated.

I have read all of the books in the series and I feel that this has done a lot to bring in most of the story lines. Overall, it was well-made and stops in the appropriate point (where I would have separated the story if I were writing it in 2 parts).

They did a great job focusing on Harry and the characters were true to past movies and the last book. The time flew by, didn't feel long at all. Very well done and not as dark as it could have been, so it keeps it open for some of the younger audience. Loved it!

Compared to past HP movies, this one is the best. No contest. If you've read the book, it's about 90% accurate, with some changing of sequence and dialogue and leaving things out of course. Not very much adding random things that didn't happen. Even so, it's a wonderful movie and fits the storyline that's been built through the years in movie form. Not for small kids, very frightening at certain points, even if you're expecting it. The Harry-Hermione relationship is emphasized way too much, my only complaint. Beautiful scenes, much improved acting, effects that seem real, absolutely great movie.

I really enjoyed this movie and can hardly wait to see the second chapter! I plan to reread the book in the meantime. It didn't feel like it was 2 1/2 hours long. Loved the humor, loved the Weasleys!, the move was pretty dark throughout (lighting-wise) but this did not detract from the theme. Would like to see more of Luna..she always makes me giggle. There is blood and it can be kind of scary for the younger folks (12 and under). Makes me wish I could do magic...

This movie was amazing!! I cant wait for part 2. I think they got soooo much better with this movie. Its got great action, plot and most importantly anything that they left out you cant tell. There are some slow parts in the middle when they are constantly traveling, but thats to be expected. I loved this movie more than the others, and if you dont love it your a fool!

This latest HP movie follows the story line as faithfully as possible. The fact that it is a good movie is due to the fascinating tale that JK Rowling wrote which made is easy to adapt. Great ending point for HP & TDH, Part 1. You'll enjoy it. I plan to see it again.

Big letdown. The action scenes looked like they were filmed by someone wildly running around swinging the camera. All of the minor characters introduced up to now have little or no roll in the story. I've only read the first two books and couldn't take anymore, they were terrible. So this is only based on the movies up to this point.

I found this movie, although long, moved fast. It was pretty suspenseful but I would have appreciated a bit more magic and a little less blades against the throat, after all why would a wizardess need such a muggle form of coersion?
I liked that Dumbledore, although gone, was still in the movie if in spirit only...all in all, a good one for Potter fans.

I really enjoyed this movie I knew coming into the movie that this is the first part and would run a little slower in the action that we are used to in the Harry Potter series, I can't wait until next year to see the last chapter of this series.
This part of the movie followed the book pretty well, I liked the part when they tried to break the necklace. and how the entered to minestry of magic. journey through the woods was pretty well done could have been done a little shorter the movie ended at the perfect part. now things are really going to move.

This movie is definitely for Harry Potter fans. The movie assumes that you already know the main characters. So... READ THE BOOKS, and then see the movie. My only complaint about this movie is that it doesn't show how deeply and selflessly Harry loves Ginny (the books delve into this).
As for the ending, I couldn't imagine a better place to stop, or pause the movie. I believe that most of the frustration that people have expressed is due to it being only part 1 of a series.
Criticism of the "nude" scene are greatly over-exaggerated. If your kid is old enough to love Harry Potter (all of the books), then this shouldn't stop you from taking him/her.

A good presentation of a dark story. Characters are no longer children and I wouldn't recommend parents let children under 10 see this. I'm old enough to remember seeing Bambi's mother die and this, I think, is just as dark.

I liked the movie, but as someone who has a great imagination they left out a lot of great parts from the book. They also changed up a lot on how the story progresses. There were some scary parts that could unnerve a younger child. There is also a part with some sexual undertones where a more developed child could pick up on. Overall it was a good movie which Ill buy once its released on DVD to keep up the collection but doubt ill spend money again to see it in the theater. If you really don't remember the book then you'll love the movie. If you've never read the books nor seen the movies, then you'll be confused.

If you have read the books, you will love this movie. If not, you may find it a little slow. It is very plot building for the second half which is going to be a straight action movie. Barely left anything out from the book (which is what we've all been asking for for 7 movies now) Great movie and very well done, I recommend it to everyone, but the die-hards especially will be very happy.

I am so glad that the movie stays close to JKRowling's storyline! It is an incredibly fast paced movie-- but stops for laughs.. To remind you it is a children's story.
However- as mentioned brief sexuality and violence- see it first before your kids. You know them and what they can handle.
Beautiful scenery, and wonderful filming techniques!! If you are curious, go see it!

Awesome movie- loved that they stuck closer to the book. I can't wait for the next part. The 2 1/2 hours went by quickly. Note to parents though it is quite scary and dark for children. Little boy in front of me about 5-6 years so very afraid.

By far one of the bests in the series. It was spectacularly done. It followed the book story line very well. The parts I cried in when I read the book were the same ones I cried in while watching the movie. You feel everything the cast is feeling. It ended really well and I was thoroughly satisfied with the movie. Can't wait for the next one.

i LOVED this movie. it was VERY well put together and almost identical to the book. its a must see for any potter fan. i took my 6 year old to see it, and while its a bit darker then the rest he really injoyed it. the only thing that scared him was the snake at godrics hallow. my only dislike was that they did not show the stone in the town square in godrics hallow that showed james, lilly and harry as a baby. and that they didnt show the sign that came up in the yard of thier house where people had writen things to harry. i think that was an importent part of the book to help him see that people are behind him and beleive in him. but all in all it was a GREAT movie. cant wait to see the next part.

i loved all the scenes with harry and hermionie, my favorite scene was when they were dancing, it kind broke my heart, but it was charming at the same time. also i think it portrayed the time they spent together in book very well, it translated well to the movie.

The movie did not really follow the book too much and there were scenes missing and parts that were changed but nothing that changed the story line really. it was ABSOLUTELY amazing! I have read all the books numerous times and I have seen all the movies numerous times and I have NEVER been upset! Anyone who thinks otherwise about this movie either doesn't like harry potter or is trying to go against the crowd.

My children, Melanie (22), Steven (19), and their friends, Josh and Jeremy enjoyed the latest installment of the Harry Potter Series movies mightily. If you can impress Steven (like Selena Gomez does) then you've actually done something! Kudos go out to J. K. Rowling!
