I thought the movie was good. Lacked a lot of action you usually get in the Harry Potter movies but in order to get the story-line right they had to ahere to what actually happens in the books or else the final movie wouldn't make sense. I think this last one (part 2) is going to be unbelievable and action packed. This one, not so much but still a good flick.

Movie stayed true to the book, kept me very interested from begining to end. Very intense Very dark but if you have read the books you knew it was headed that direction anyway. would see it again and again and again!!!!

I've always been frustrated with movies that were made from books, but this one turned out fantastic. Sure there were scenes I wish they would have put in and a couple they should have left out (the dancing scene, really?)
The decision to split the story into two movies turns out to be a good thing with this one. While I'm sure that money entered the equation, having two movies has given Hollywood a chance to tell the full story. For the most part they have succeeded.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. Of course I am an avid Harry Potter fan. I can see how someone who has not read the book could be very easily confused or could walk away not impressed.

So good! Very true to the pic, a couple minor things added in that weren't but it fit well and made sense. I am extremely happy they didn't make this 3D. Why film makers out there seem to think this special effect is necissary is beyond me. Acting was great, action, special effects were so good. I can't wait till the next one!

I think you could have cut about 45 minutes out of this movie by removing the very tedious and uninteresting middle portion of the film. Watson and Radcliffe don't do brooding and moody very well.

Saw it Sat night and it was WELL worth the long wait since being told it was going to be 2 part movie. The action, drama and OMG the thrilling parts were unbeliveable. The movie watchers were from all ages, I saw small kids to ladies in their 70's watching the show. Dan, Emma and Rupert were fantastic. It's amazing to see them grow from 10 and 11 yr olds to amazing adults on the screen and there acting has grown with them. I have read the books and the movie has stayed true to them. Can't wait until July 2011. I'm going back again this weds for another showing. Again LOVED AND ENJOYED the movie.

It was a good start to the final chapter for Harry Potter. Everything has begun, but it left us wanting more!!! Now we just have to wait until July to see the finale...bummer! Of course you have to catch this first part to see the 2nd, which I'm sure will be just as riveting.

Good and true representation of the book, but not an excellent movie. Structure and sequence was a somewhat disappointing. And being so loyal to the book actually limited the actors' creativity and expression. Of course, I loved it because it's Harry Potter, but I did not think it was the best movie of the franchise.

Of all the Harry Potter movies, this one sticks closest to the book. This 1st half depicts the lengthy thought processes of Harry and crew to solve the mystery of destroying the Hallows. While not as action packed as previous films, you feel the tension building to the cllimatic end that Part II will surely portray.

At first I was opposed to the 7th Harry Potter book being split into 2 movies but I soon realized that this was necessary. Every chapter counts in the novel in order to make the whole story make sense. If the filmmakers had not made a faithful adaptation, film viewers would have been thoroughly confused (which is what happened in a few of the previous movies). The filmmakers have really done justice to the novel and have managed to create the sense of urgency, dread, and despair that permeates the wizarding world. In some ways, they have even managed to enhance this feeling of doom (more than the novel could). That being said, if you haven't seen the previous movies or read any of the books, this is not the movie for you.

Compared to the other movies, this one had serious lack of plot and chracter development with a few action bits scattered through out in an attempt to capture the viewers attention. What was missing? The creative whimsical imaginative details that set the other movies in the series apart from this one. Was it ok? Yes, but no need to rush to the theater! I actually found myself yawning, skwirming and checking my watch to see how much longer there was to go...NOT GOOD!

This was an excellent movie. I have seen all the Harry Potter movies & this one was just at great as the others. I have not read any of the books, so I cannot say how close the movie stayed with the book. I would recommend anyone to see it even if you have not kept up with the series. Watched movie with my adult child, her friends, my teen and her friends. We all loved it! A couple of us had not read the book so we were more surprised than others.

The only reason I knew I had been sitting still for over two hours was the difficulty these old bones have in getting up after a prolonged sit. I can't remember the last time I was spell bound for such a length of time totally unaware of time's passage. Definitely the best of the lot, most closely follows the course of events as inspired by JK Rowling, heart-breaking and terrifying, visceral. The depth of emotion portrayed by our young heroes echoes the same feelings we suffered reading the passages. Must see!

The movie is slow but the story was good and very much like the book ( I am told by son) they have crossed the threshold from a child movie to an adult movie. Was some parts really not necessary and at times uncomfortable. There was people giggling at times and large groups of them in a full movie showing when it was suppose to be scary or tense but people found dragged on .... It wasn't bad you knew it was Harry potter movie but they do take a different path.....
*warning small children maybe scared and adult scene sud jesting sex (really not needed but may have done for ratings)
