A must see for Harry Potter fans! Be sure to either read the books or watch all the movies up to this point or you will be lost. Characters are no longer explained too much and story line starts up where it left off. July will be filled with excitement and sorrow for the last piece of the puzzle will be done.

They did a wonderful job bringing this one to the screen! However they sooo didn't need to undress 2 of the leads to create one particular scene. NOT for children!!

I have enjoyed all of the Harry Potter movies, and, although I would not say this was my ultimate favourite, I cannot tell you which movie IS my favourite, I've loved them all. I'm happy this movie followed the book, as there are some very vital details in the book that need to be cleared up and depicted before the real action can start. I anxiously awake Part 2.

The lastest installment of the Harry Potter tale did not dissapoint. It kept true to the book and set the mood for the ongoing battle with evil. It was full of action and yet never let you forget the importance of the underlying messages of teamwork, friendship and love are the things most important in life. Great move. I would have gladly sat through the final part of the story and can't wait unitl summer to see how the conclusion of J. K Rowling's story is set to flim. An incredible job by these very talented young actors. Just a heads up, this tale gets darker and more mature as the characters face more and more violent evil. This one is not for the very young child. Voldemort could follow them into their Nightmares.

I really enjoyed this movie, in fact this is probably the best of the series.
Cons to the film:
1) Like most Harry Potter movies they are very detailed and long. Because the movie really has a book's sensibilities, a 5-10 minute intermission would be nice for several reasons. First, the movies pay careful attention to detail, and expect their audiences to do the same. Miss a couple of minutes (just 2) and you may have missed something you really wish you hadn't. Second, the movies are so rich in "movie" that a little break to process all the names and meanings and lessons, etc., would be nice--like a book, even if it's good, sometimes you just want to put it down for a little while. This may say more to the conditioning of my attention span; it all is a weak "con" argument as it still implies you are getting a whole lot of entertainment value out of the price of your ticket. I'd argue that concessions should be seat side (like they do for sporting events on the big screen) and even certain bathrooms reserved for HP viewers only (: )).
2) The movie is less suggestive and more direct in its approach to the violence and maliciousness of some of the characters. Also, the sexually is not so implied either. I'm not a parent, so my thoughts as to what I would do when really confronted with the dilemma of what is appropriate to kids would be off. But I would say that this isn't the movie with which you introduce your children to the Harry Potter series. I wouldn't suggest letting your kids 12 years and younger see this film before you do (either watch it first, or watch it with them so that you can discuss things).
My brother and my sister-in-law don't allow my nephews to see this film because of their religious convictions and because this film focuses on witchcraft. Harry Potter's vocabulary has been adopted by so many other films and tv shows that one wonders if the vocabulary is unique to the franchise or if it's authentic to Wicca and/or other forms of witchcraft. Parents should be mindful that kids will want to emulate and imitate their heroes; some kids may even want to copy the villains. All persons should consider that a religion isn't simply a "form of expression" or a "myth" to the persons who seriously practice them or those who would want you to believe in them.
Pros:
1) Improved, more serious action sequences.
2) Detail rich story and great continuation of character development (including insights to the motivations and characters deceased and/or not present).
3) No dumbing down of material to cater to kids for the sake of selling toys and merchandise. No filtering material in a way that seeks to appease parent groups. (Despite what I said in my con, I would say parents will and should have to take a more active role in censuring or exposing their kids to this material).
4)From the writing to the sound to the CGI to the acting to the directing to even the marketing, this was done well. No 3 D gimmicks to make the movie more appealing was required.

This movie was great and went by way to fast. The effects and cinematography were outstanding. I loved the mix of action, drama, and subtle humor. I just wish it wasn't split in two movies. I loved how this was geared more toward older audiences just like how the books evolved as they went along. One thing I notice and liked was that even the CGI characters and scenes didn't look at all fake (example Kreacher and Dobby).
Definitely not for kids, though I don't see why anyone would consider taking young kids to this. If you know the story, you would know that this was going to be dark since there is more killing in it than any of the stories. Though they did a good job not overdoing the bloodiness, well done. The rating was appropriate. Parents need to consider this when deciding what age to take.
I can't wait for part 2 but will be very sad it will be over.

Being a HP fan and having read the novel I did feel it was a bit rushed since there were key scenes deleted. But for the average movie goer it did not harm the overall telling of the story. For parents who bring their children and are taken back by the violence I have words of advice.....know what your children are reading and pay attention to the PG-13 rating. It may have started out as a children's story but it grew up with the main characters. I definitely will see this again in the theaters.

This was a really good movie. It had some violent parts but overall it was very epic and a great start to the fanale! I saw the midnight premier so i might have a bit of a different perspective on the movie but i would definetly recommend the movie to others. It is not as good as the book but I really liked it! At the theatre after the movie i overheard a lot of people saying that the ending was too abrupt and bad. But i think its a great cliff hanger to put before part 2. Cant wait until part 2 comes out! :)

We saw the movie as a family... 8 years old to 65. Everyone loved it. The violence is definitely to be considered with young ones. Ours was prepared as he'd read some of the books and had the rest read to him.
We all were very happy that the book was followed so closely. We also agreed that if you aren't a Potter fan, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to understand the plot.
Most of us will see the movie in the theater again, all will buy it when it's available and can't wait for the final installment!

It was a very good movie and truer to the book than others. The violence was MUCH more graphic than the others and the scene with a naked (yes...naked) Harry and Hermoine making out...very inappropriate for the target audience. The effects were amazing however and although there were some slow parts (very true to the book), there was much excitement right around the corner. Can't wait for the sequel. THE ENDING WAS AMAZING!!!!!

The first part of book 7 is not a happy time for our Hogwarts trio. Cut off from family and friends, hunted, traveling endlessly and aimlessly with a depression-maker around their necks, it is bleak, bleak, bleak. In fact, both Joan and myself thought the book was pretty long and kind of dragged through this part - we were ready to slit our wrists or switch to a happier book.
I read Richard Corliss's review in Time and was prepared for "an hour of its 2 ½-hour expanse, it sticks three young people in the woods with little to do but wait for awful things to happen".
However, both Joan and I thought the movie moved right along. In fact, the awful lonely trio part in the woods was 15 minutes. In all, there were plenty of action sequences and emotional thrills. All my favorite scenes: the escape from the Dursley's, the snitch at the Ministry of Magic, confronting Bellatrix at the Malfoys, and most favorite, the recovery of the sword all seemed very exciting and satisfying to me. And as a bonus, when Ron is reunited w/ Hermione, Emma Watson does a terrific acting job with being angry at Ron and especially w/ her facial expressions when he is sucking back up to her. So romantic!
We just can't wait now for DH2!

I have loved Harry Potter since it first hit the bookshelfs. He has grown from a young boy to a man. This film is like reading the book.
A few people thought it was too violent. BUT remember the earlier years he was a child.. As the films progressed so did the darkness of the wizard world. Parents should realize this isnt for small children.
I will watch this again over and over till next year when Part 2 arrives

As the HP series has mostly shown...this one followed the book as I hoped it would. While some who haven't read the books might be disappointed in this movie as compared to the more violent HP installments, it is necessary to lead into the final movie. My daughter and I both loved it, and thought it did justice to the book. It left us eagerly awaiting the final movie next year!

As a HP fan, I am very critical of the movies. This movie exceeded my expectations. It followed the books pretty closely and was very exciting.
This movie is definitely not a movie for young children. There were a lot of violent fights, scary scenes with the snake, and some brief nudity. I would strongly advise against taking young children to this movie.

I found it fascinating but the violence seemed harsh to me. There were many very young children attending the showing and I felt sorry for the parents. Perhaps we are all just desensitized to such violence. The special effects were outstanding. For a non-Potter 64 year old fan I found myself entertained but uncomfortable with the violence.

This was very well done and followed the books pretty acurately. If I hadn't read the book, I would have been a little lost though. There is not much explanation about some of the detailes. It was another great Harry Potter film, did not disappoint! The two and a half hours went by quickly, although I would've been willing to sit through five hours if the last book wasn't split into two movies. I can't wait for Part 2!
Obviously, they're all getting older, so this movie has more mature situations and, just like the previous one, is darker. The raised rating was necessary. It would've been so awesome in 3D.
All of the Harry Potter movies have been pretty much true to the books, so I'm sure Part 2 will be as well. I can't wait for July!
