Great movie, stayed mostly with story line. I believe I jumped every time I was supposed to but I continue to be amazed at the extreme volume theater owners believe they must use. If they are going to pay for our hearing aids when we need them it is one thing but . .
June is too far away. I do not reread the book to refresh my memory, I hope that the movie does that and it did.

This movie did a great job following the first half of the book. It was very suspenseful and kept us engaged in the story all the way to the end. We are really looking forward to seeing part 2!!

A rare example of a movie that is better-written than the book it's based on. The basic story hasn't been changed, but the events have been slightly re-shaped to be more coherent and less boring than in the first half of the novel. I was pleased and surprised to see that Hermione didn't get short shrift, as is all too common for female characters: I was afraid that she would become merely Screaming Girl. Certainly the best HP movie for some time, possibly the best yet.

I really enjoyed the movie. While I had read the book -- it had been a while but remembered details as they unfolded. The 'battle' scenes and characterizations are so well done. I jumped at times and felt the despair of the main 3 characters throughout. Looking forward to next summer's finale. And I do plan on seeing it again.

There was more sitting around in this movie than in any other Potter movie. It felt very long and not a lot of movement. I think more dialog would have been better. My least favorite out of them all. I am looking forward to part 2 and hope it is faster moving.

Being a fan of all the books, I'm glad they're taking the time to follow the plot through the first half of Deathly Hallows. However, a movie based on the first half of a book where the climactic action is yet to happen is guaranteed to be less fulfilling. This Potter film is like Star Wars V where the entire purpose is to set up the next adventure. They make no apologies to anyone who might not be familiar with the other movies so don't bother taking a Potter novice to this one, they'll be very lost and over their heads.

I've read the books and seen the movies multiple times and the final episode is not only the best read, but the best made movie also culminating to the final result. Also, I've spoken to people who've not seen any before now and thought it to be "riveting". Thank you to all who had a part in it.

What a movie! A little dark for the kids, but the kids who have grown up watching Harry Potter movies will understand that this is the road to the battle between good and evil. This movie was always moving with great visual effects. Caused a few jump out of the seat moments and seemed to be an hour vs. the two and half hours that the movie ran.
The grown up kids have a lot of adventure left to go and was different not being in Hogwatts the whole movie!

This was an absolutely AMAZING film! It was filled with scenes that will make you shed a few tears, scenes to make you jump, scenes to make you cry, it had EVERYTHING!! I can watch it time and time again! Absolutely everything came out perfectly. It was everything I expected and more!

Just like the book it starts with a rush and keeps moving. Harry and friends must face the trials leading to, what will be in Part 2, the final confrontation with Voldamort and the Death Eaters. As intense as any in the series it isn't for the small set and the themes of love, betrayal, and fear may be beyond even some middle schoolers, but for the rest of us, Harry's quest for what he is destined to do makes for a great movie.

The 7th installment was very well done. I think the producers did a good job of getting the major parts of the story told. The did have to shorten and leave some parts untold due to the length of the book.
I think that the producers could have made each move two parts and probably finished the final with two parts or even three. At some point they have to say when.
My whole family loved it.

I just with Steve Kloves was a better story teller and that David Yates didn't insist on putting his actors into tableaus in order to project internal, emotional states. Radcliffe, Watson, and Rupert (among others) are better actors than Yates handled them.
For instance, in the cupboard scene near the beginning of the movie, Harry simply stares at the cupboard under the stairs where he used to sleep. In the book, he talks to Hedwig about the experience, marveling at how small it seems now, etc. Why couldn't Yates and Kloves have Harry talk to Hedwig in the movie during this scene? It would have made the scene much better. Instead, the audience is left to guess and infer Harry's internal thoughts based on deadpan stares. Give me a break!
Or how about Hermione's reaction to Ron abandoning them in the forest? In the book, Hermione goes ballistic over it, crying her eyes out. In the movie, she's barely bothered about it, seemingly only to be torn about whether to stay or leave. And when Ron returns, the most she has to say is, "Don't think that lets you off the hook" or something similarly banal.
Again, I don't blame Radcliffe or Watson for this. The pattern applies to all the actors in Yates' movies. That means its the director, not the actors, who is at fault.
Yates consistently avoids having his actors act. Instead, he poses them and uses dramatic shots and lighting to portray their various internal states. He and Kloves need to learn to use dialogue and human reaction to tell the story.

This was clearly the most well done movie of the series to date; but as with the books the subject matter is darker and not suitable for the small children. I attended the movie with several "non Harry Potter lovers" and even they enjoyed the movie thoroughly.
