I liked parts of it, but the pacing felt jarring in many places, lots of exposition sometimes (esp. at the beginning) that made the scenes feel weird but maybe that couldn't really be helped... I may see it again, but I think I need to see part 2 before I can really make up my mind about this one. Walking out of the theater, it really did feel like only part of a story.

This movie was really good. HP fans who read the books should be satisfied that they stayed true to the story and you could feel the intensity of the characters. I am glad now that they split the movie into two parts so that they can do justice to this final book. I have walked away from the theater after previous HP movies feeling a bit cheated by the changes made, but this one delivered a good story. The actors are at their best in this one. I want to go see it again, and I would recommend it to everyone over the age of 9 or 10.

Before seeing this movie, I was a little concerned. The book was so important and there was really no part that you could leave out. I think that they did a great job of capturing the book. I just wish that I didn't have to wait until next year to see part 2! It is definitely a must see!

This is definitely a must-see! The two and a half hour long movie just flies by with all the action and excitement. It's a bit darker than previous HP movies, but the comic relief is just wonderful. Go see this now!

It was much funnier than I expected, and they stayed to the book enough for me to not get dorkily offended. There were a couple awkward moments that didn't make sense in the plot of the movie, but they didn't really take away from it. When it comes down to it, it's a Harry Potter movie. You're gonna love it.

I'm not saying it was bad but I was letdown. It dragged at times. Visually very appealing and it stuck to the book, but I think it would have been better to have one longer movie and wrap it all up.

Although I am biased in my opinion of the film (I am now 20 years old and have been reading the Harry Potter series since it debuted when I was 8 years old), I can objectively say that this is by far the most entertaining, emotionally engrossing, and intense Harry Potter film to date. The acting is top-notch, the cinematography and locales are beautiful, and the tone is appropriately dark. While the abrupt end of the film may not be satisfying to some (since the story wasn't necessarily designed to be split into parts, although I praise director David Yates and the rest of the team for doing so), the overall quality of the film is not diminished whatsoever. I can hardly comprehend how amazing Part 2 will be, considering Part 1 is only a prelude to the true finale. Do yourself a favor and go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1. You'll be glad you did.

the three leads were just wonderful and the music was excellent and that snake was sure scary and many funny parts like the ministery of magic when they changed into other people. I washed all the movies and they get better and better. I will see it on saturday and thanksgiving also.

The Potter trio is all grown up and better than ever in the newest film. Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint have really come into their own this time, carrying a storyline otherwise lagged by a misty plot. They continue to battle dark wizards, the loss of loved ones and home, and most importantly they're plagued by their own fears and doubts, never truly knowing who is enemy and who is ally, if there any of the latter. Great acting by the three main characters is accompanied by fantastic visuals in scenes of wizardly duals that would have Merlin's heart racing. The stakes of these duals is more than just detention with Umbridge.
A slowed middle of the movie is brightened by light humor, another touching Christmas moment (7 for 7!) and the trio's ability to carry stagnant dialogue as well as make mild mystery connections seem like "wow" moments to the audience.
As the movie winds down, it's clear that the last 20 minutes are an intense pre-cursor to what should be one of the most epic and influential movies in years. As the good guys lose more and more, the bad guys gain one last piece of the puzzle to become more powerful than ever. Is there a magic incantation to skip to July, Harry?

You cannot go wrong with Harry Potter, the movie is awesome and even when the movie ended it left me with wanting more. Very good ending cant wait until i get to see the next one! :D But do go early wherever you guys are going too many people could be annoying and wont get the seat that you wanted.

This movie really captured the tone of the beginning of the seventh book. It was also much better paced than previous Harry Potter films, which should help to tell the story to those who have not read the book. The acting has also improved compared to previous films.

I think that the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows was really just there to set the stage for the last movie. All of sorts of details were given, there was quite a bit of character development, and after 120 minutes of that - it was definitely time to end the movie. The setup reminded me of Kill Bill vol. 1.

Typically, when I go to see a movie that is going to have a sequel I always feel that there is going to be a big letdown because nothing will ever happen. This one didn't feel like a letdown. Of course, the story obviously didn't resolve, but they ended it at just the right moment.

Fantastic movie and the first one since #1 that is really true to the book. The 3 lead stars have grown beautifully and are so talented. I was not ready for it to end, even at 2:30 in the morning! I would have liked to have seen Dudley thank Harry at the beginning - the parting with the Dursleys was too abrupt and empty. And I would have liked to have had more of Dobby, and earlier on with the Snape character. I thought the semi-nude scene between Harry and Hermione was totally unnecessary -- after all, kids will see this movie! But I still give it 5 stars and look forward to the last movie in July.

This is an AMAZING movie! SOme people thought it sagged in the middle, but this is not true. I was so sad when it was over, that's how good it was. I can;t wait to re-watch it!! Definitely worth the price. The next one will be epic.

No spoilers here. This movie was really true to the storyline of the final book in the Harry Potter series. It's must more mature in that the characters are no longer at school under the watchful eyes of their teachers. The action builds and builds. The end left me longing for the final installment. This is a very impressive beginning of the end of a great movie series.
