Actors were great. Singing wonderful! Too many dead moments and characters weren't able to achieve their potential. This was a low budget film and it showed. It had potential but failed to deliver.

I've seen the stage play 14 times - London, New York, Vegas, Tampa, Clearwater, West Palm Beach, Miami Beach. agree the movie was great, and I agree that Pierce can't really sing all that well, but it was fun!

This movie is a rollicking, deliciously raunchy ride.
The settings were marvelous, the energy was amazing & the singing was actually far better than I expected. Brosnan's out of his range, but everyone else was quite surprising. The bit as the credits begin is pure fun.
There was one moment where the green screen work was obvious, and as I said, Brosnan's out of his vocal range, so his singing isn't as high quality as everyone else's, but that's the extent of negative points I've got.

Went to the 12:01am showing; came home and ordered the soundtrack. Meryl Streep was TERRIFIC as were her 'sidekicks'. The scenery, singing and dancing is wonderful. Pierce Bronson was a bit stiff but as he is nice to look at..... Don't miss it. I plan to see it again next week.

It was fabulous! The casting was great! You can tell that the guys are less "musically talented" as the gals, but that is not to say that the guys are bad at all! It is very cheesy, but it is a winner for all the family! I would recommend it to everyone (even to my friends who don't care for musicals!). It is a must see!!!

I went to the midnight showing on Thursday the 17th. I'm in my 40's so I listened to Abba songs that my parents played, and then became a fan on my own in the 70's. Abba music always uplifts me a bit. Now, throw in Meryl Streep, Pierce, Colin and new-comer to me, Amanda Seyfried... and what do you get? A pretty setting, the surprise that Meryl can actually sing, the non-shocker that Pierce can't, a lot of amateurish choreography, some fun characters, and an Abba song every 5 minutes. I had seen the play a couple of times so was anxious to see it's "movie" sister. For me, they pulled it off. Amanda's face and voice are beautiful, Pierce fits his character in spite of his inability to sing like Pavarotti, the energy is high, Meryl can act out a package warning label and still make you believe it, and Christine Baranski and Julie Walters are SURE to make you chuckle a bit. I went not expecting too much, and it's certainly not "Chicago", but I have to say, I left the theater with a smile having been entertained for an hour and 50 minutes and.... I sang Abba tunes in my head for a couple of hours after. All in all, it was a nice surprise. I like the special effects to remain with the Star Wars type movies and the new era musicals to stay a little gritty. This was fun in the middle and gritty around the edges. Be sure to stay through the credits for a little extra fun!

It was cute & fun; I enjoyed it more than I expected to. It was one of those movies where you leave the theater just feeling really good. Everything was absolutely beautiful... it was well cast... the characters are endearing... it was just very enjoyable!

I had seen the musical Mama Mia and was very much looking forward to seeing this film. I actually bought a ticket for 12:01 am movie showing. The good thing about this film is the film itself was shot in a beautiful location and the director took this into account. It is a beautiful film. Also, most of the actors were great singers, and this is key to this film. Unfortunately. the lead characters did not have strong singing voices. Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, though wonderful to look at, cannot sing well enough to sustain this film. In fact, people started giggling everytime Brosnan or Streep started to sing. Other than that, a good film. Just could have been so much more.

The movie was so amazing! the cast was great and the music and choreography were so enchanting! From opening scene to final laughs, this movie is one of the happiest I've seen in a long time. If you want to leave the theatre feeling better than you did when you entered, with more spring in your step and more songs in your head, this is the movie for you. Facial expressions and body language bring the tale to life in an idyllic setting. The actors are very well matched to their roles, and do a great job singing. (Although James Bond maybe should do Karaoke rather than musicals; see below...) What's amazing about the songs is the fact that they match the story line so well, flowing naturally out of the situation. We laughed, clapped, and sang our way through the movie, and the rest of the audience did, too. I recommend this film for and adult audience. And now, if you're still reading, a bit of background: After winning a Karaoke contest at IKEA, my wife and I were privileged to see a special advance screening July 17. I must admit my musical tastes tend to be a century or two behind, so I had never heard songs from the group ABBA. That didn’t stop me from singing my own version of "Mamma Mia" during the contest! My wife's version of "Dancing Queen" turned out far better, and we were pleasantly surprised at the movie screening to be awarded a Mamma Mia! poster, $25 IKEA gift card, and (especially for me) a CD with the songs from the movie. So even though we otherwise might have not gone to this movie, we are very glad we did! I'm sure we'll be seeing this movie many times.

Got to see it 7/15 at the sneak preview and cant wait to see it again. Just non stop fun. You wont believe how beautiful the Greek Islands are. Songs and music are great (Pierce cant really sing but he is perfect as Sam) Streep CAN really sing is is a blast in this role. I have seen the play 10 times and the movie dies it proud plus some. MAMMA MIA GO AND DANCE AND SING!
