I don't really like Meryl Streep and I did not think I would like her in this role especially, but she grows on you as she gives a great performance. Getting to see Pierce Brosnan sing is enough reason to see this movie. We all had a really great time.

I saw this opening night - it was fantastic and so much fun! The audience clapped and cheered as if they were seeing it onstage. The dance numbers were fun - reminiscent of Grease as far as silly sentimental enjoyment. I can't wait to see it again!

Mamma Mia, I attended this movie because my wife wanted to see it. We both enjoy musicals and miss them on the big screen. The movie gets you right at the start with a young girl sending off letters and the bright beauty of the little Greek island that the movie takes place on. The movie had no dull moments and kept you entertained from the first song to the closing and the encore by the entire company. If you want to be entertained and enjoy music this is a must see film. Everybody did a great job. Hats off to Phyllida Lloyd. Meryl Streep needs to show off her singing voice more.

The best part of the movie were the songs. Of course the story was contrived at best, trying to shove an ABBA song into every scene. The movie was a nail biter every time an actor had to sing. Meryl Streep's voice seemed disembodied from her.... her timbre changed up a third every time she sang. Pierce looked very uncomfortable, and Colin's singing was only slightly better than his "Tony" necessary storyline. The movie was uncomfortable to watch and my family felt like it was a wasted afternoon. We still love ABBA's music and the vistas of the Greek Isles....safely the best parts of the movie.

What a lot of fun last night was! "Mamma Mia" is fantastic and one of the best feel-good movies I have seen in a long time. I am sorry it is rated PG-13 , because of it I left my 4 & 7 yr. olds at home. They would have enjoyed this, too. The few more mature lines would have gone right over their heads.The cinematography is gorgeous, as are the bodies dancing around the screen. I couldn't imagine the adaption from the stage to the screen any better than I viewed last night. Executive Produced by Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, it is no surprise that the production is first rate. This team never lets us down. Meryl Streep is hysterical as a single mom who doesn't know which of 3 men is the father to her 20 yr. old daughter. Her best friends, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski never let us down, they are as classy as we have become accustomed to them being, yet have such terrific comedic timing, you can imagine these 3 are friends for a billion years. I want friends just like them. Just watching the end of the movie was enough to make me and my 16 yr. old daughter peal with laughter. The 3 men: Colin Firth (my hero always), Stellan Skarsgard, and Pierce Brosnan (who always seems to stay himself) were terrific trying to piece together the puzzle of why they were even in Greece. There are too many debates over musicals; yet in our home, we break out into made up songs all the time & we dance down grocery store isles - this was as real to me as our own home ('cept Meryl sounds better than I do). The choreography is fantastic, and (other than Pierce Brosnan who really could use some vocal lessons) the singing was superb! I knew (as all true fans do) that Colin Firth could sing & dance, but never imagined Stellan could. He can. Meryl.... I was truly impressed with how she brought to life the fun and lively music of ABBA. Her vocal range was surprising and we walked out of the theater laughing and still singing. This isn't a chick-flick. It's a "wanna laugh and feel good for the rest of the day" flick. And if you happen to love ABBA or flash backs to our insane 70's, BONUS! Me, now I am packing to head for the Greek Isles!

This movie really was a lot of fun. While I enjoyed it, the stage version is still better. Meryl did an amazing job, and the blonde lead girl was adorable (if a little heavy on the vibrato at points). The only drawback was poor Pierce Brosnan. My mom and I went ot see this on opening night and we had our reservations because we both saw the play. By the end of the movie it was a toss up which atomosphere we enjoyed it most in. Meryl Streep and Pierce Bronson were great, along with the entire cast a must see at the box office and the theater, you won't be disappointed in either showing.

Outside of the music, there really wasn't much to the movie. The singing by most of the actors was painful to the ears; as ABBA's classic songs were sliced to bits by most of the cast. I think they would have done better hiring actors who could at least carry a tune. Meryl Streep was ok, as was Amande Seyfried, but the rest of them were just bad. The story seemed forced to be put together with the songs barely

Even though the singing wasn't the best - the fun, entertainment, and music made my time and money spent worthwhile! Kept you laughing and enjoying and wanting more.

I LOVED this movie. It was fun, flirty and romantic. The musical scenes were fabulous. Meryl Streep has a great voice, Pierce Brosnan, not so much but he was perfect for the role of Sam. I loved the location and storyline. Ms. Streep, Ms. Baranski and Ms. Walters were a fantastic singing trio.

My family and I went this past Saturday and loved it. I went to see the show on Broadway and Atlanta 3 times. The movie is much better. The movie is fun and a wonderful way to enjoy a summers day with family.
