What a FUN movie! I went with my 12 year old daughter and she enjoyed it too. I was smiling all the way home. It took a few songs to get past the idea of Pierce Bronsnan singing but I would definitely see it again!

We've seen Mamma Mia live in 3 cities about 6 times. Only the scenery is better in the movie - plus a great cast. Meryl Streep and daughter Sofie have great voices. The men are not good singers but are fun to watch. I'd recommend it to people with the caveat that it is a movie made around the songs, which is good enough reason for me to see it.

Wonderful film. Meryl Streep is fantastic and has a very strong voice. Overall I thought the females in the movie were all strong. The men in the cast were okay but singing wise were definelty weak. Story is thin but the songs carry the movie (as did the Broadway show). Fun to see.

Love the music, love the scenery. Will always hold Meryl in the highest esteem....this movie suffered from BAD CASTING!!! Replace Meryl and Pierce Brosnan with Kristen Chenoweth and an 80's favorite (it's suppose to be a 20 year reunion) like Rick Springfield or Jon Bon Jovi and it would have been superb. I don't know if it was intentionally funny or just so bad it was funny but if you can get past the "oh my god it's so bad that it must be good" then it's an hour and a half of fantasy .....and for that it is good.

I took my daughter and her friend ( age 9) and we absolutly loved it! There were a few comments that were a little innappropiate but given that we all 3 loved it. I have never seen the musical but knew the songs. The girls didn't know either and that did not keep us from loving it anyway. I cannot remeber being in a movie where the people not only clapped but cheered at the end. We liked it so much - we went back that same night and saw it again. It was even better because we had gone and gotten the souldtrack and so the girls were more familiar . It was so fun and I recommned this to everyone!!!!

This was one of the best I've seen in some time. Amazing cast, amazing music, amazing scenery.
This is a can't miss. And it's so NOT a chic flik. It has something for all ages... the young cast is important to the story line, the middle age cast is important to the story line.
If there were more than 5 stars, this would deserve every one.

Meryl Streep's singing was wonderful and I really enjoyed ithe movie, Thought some of the dance scenes were a bit over the top (where did all those people come from on such a small island) but it was entertaining and I left the theater feeling uplifted and singing!!!

How much fun can you pack into a movie? Bring some gal pals and prepare to sing along. Fun music, great cast and terrific energy. This movie was so happy. I honestly wasn't very excited about seeing Mamma Mia but my friend selected it for her birthday. The actors made you feel like they had a great time. We went opening weekend with another couple. One of us is a confirmed musical hater, who grudgingly went along. Even he was happy. The four of us are of an age that we were adults (by a couple to a decade of years) (not teens) when ABBA's music was popular the first time around, and none of us was particularly an ABBA fan. So what's to like? An endearing story with some comedy prat falls. Beautiful people, stunning scenery (Greek Isle), great choreography, with lots of recognizable, feel good or poignant music sung well by people who are not ordinarily considered "voices," all with more than a touch of self-deprecating humor. All in all, great entertainment.

Simply one of the best movies i have ever seen, it is a fun and feelgood movie from start to finish. All the cast play their parts extremely well, Meryl Streep sings great, Julie Walters is hilarious, Colin Firth is 'Colin Firth!' great! Pierce Brosnan is very good. If you love the music of ABBA its a must see. If you are under the age of 30 dont bother because you won't like it because ABBA was long gone by then. The visuals were great if you like looking at the sea, and story line was good but it didnt fit because the Mom was 60 and the daughter was 20. Loved the movie-extremely entertaining, very upbeat and lots of fun. Music was great. Meryl Streep is amazing-who knew she had such a good voice?!?! Fabulous cast and you leave the movie theatre in such a good mood. Am still singing the songs!! Higjly recommend.

First of all, the setting of Mamma Mia is a Greek island in the shimmering Mediterranean, so that's joyful right there. The full- out -whole- town dancing numbers to Abba's big hits are worth the price of admission alone! Campy, sweet, simple, funny, ridiculous and believeable!

Yep, this show rocks for all the right reasons - escapist entertainment and FUN!!! Forget that the eras are confused and some of the lead characters will never be known for their singing, this film joyfully serves up a great version of a hit Broadway musical with all the over-the-top emoting that makes musical comedies so grand. The entire cast 'works' together and you can feel the fun they must have had making it. Go see this one and enjoy!
