All I wanted this movie to be was fun. I wasn't expecting anything nearly as good as 'Raiders' especially given how bad 'Temple of Doom' and how mediocre 'Last Crusade' were. But they were movies of my childhood ('Raiders' being one of my all time faves) and I really wanted to give this movie a chance...
While it was cute in places in a "roll-your-eyes-and-groan" kind of way, making references to the past 3 films...It was overall deadly dull with a dopey plot that they BEAT you over the head with (Indy's leaps in logic have never seemed more forced when he's "putting it all together.") And the action scenes were horribly improbable and the movie wasn't nearly good enough for you to want to play along with them. Seriously, a sword fight on two moving duck boats in the middle of the jungle? And the Tarzan impression?!? And Karen Allen looks like she just wandered out of the hairdresses into captivity. I'm sorry if those are spoilers, but I doubt it. This film arrived spoiled.
And, now, for the final straw...WHAT WAS CATE BLANCHETT THINKING?!? As has been said in other places, I expected her to give up on chasing Indy in order to hook up with Boris and chase Moose and Squirell. That accent was horrible, the dialog was so hamfisted it made 'Star Wars' sound like Shakespeare, and the conclusion...see it to believe it if you have to. Or don't. It will live in camp history someday.
I am not a hater...I really, really wanted to like this film. But it just seems that, with this film and with the last three 'Star Wars' movies, fat, lazy old men are trading in on their prior glories, bringing them down in the process. Like U2 wrote, "You glorify your past when your future dries up." Go rent 'Raiders' and remember what it was like when these filmmakers actually had something to say.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was disappointing. The story line was far fetched, the performance by Shia LeBeouf did not impress me at all (I am hoping that he is not the next Indiana Jones), and many of the characters were weak. The only two great things about the movie are the performance by Harrison Ford and the action sequences.

I honestly felt like the movie had just a little much crammed into 2 hours (a la Spiderman 3 -- I'm not saying it was THAT bad though). Harrison Ford was great as were the rest of the actors. My main beef was with the plot. I'm well aware that it's Indiana Jones and we're supposed to embrace the spectacular and give it a free pass (like James Bond...you're just supposed to enjoy); that said, I felt like Crystal Skull was a little over the top. I mean, if I wanted an X-Files movie, I'd wait until later this summer for I WANT TO BELIEVE. For the first 1 hour and 15 minutes, I felt like the movie reach Last Crusade status (awesome), but the last 45 minutes were too unbelievable and ultimately fell a little flat. Just my opinion though!

I felt the movie was good, it was the usual story line of Indiana Jones that we all love. My children and husband seemed happy with it, however the alien story line scared my 8 year old a bit, and he doesn;t get scared often. We enjoyed the movie and had really been looking forward to it. At times I was a little bored, and there may have been less action than is some previous movies, but that is ok, Indiana is getting older. In short, some parts of the movie were great, some parts were a little too over the top, and although the story line was the supposed weakness of the movie, it's what one should expect going into this movie as anyone expecting some type of great story for a third seqel to Indiana Jones should stick to films on the Independent Film Channel anyway. A lot of great action sequences and some memorable scenes. I was pleasently surprised by Shia Lebouf's(did I spell that right) character. I was expecting another Short Round debacle.

I thought the movie's action scenes were compatible with Raiders and Last Cruisade. However, it lacked the great story line that the previous two had. It defenitely was better than the Temple of Doom. It had the witty lines we've come to love in these Indiana Jones movies. I also thought Shia LaBeaouf did a great job as Indiana's son and could very well fill his shoes in future Indiana movies!

This was a great movie for Indy fans and the family. My 2 boys, ages 10 and 8, loved it. My oldest is a huge Indy fan and just had to see it opening day. It was a typical Indy movie, full of adventure, fun and action.

I enjoyed this film a great deal, and the key word there is "enjoyed." This is a movie that may not have the sweeping scope of Raiders or Last Crusade, but it's an honestly fun movie, and that's no small thing. It packs in all the wild chase scenes and heroic daring-do you'd expect in an Indy film, and for those of us who remember Indy the first time around, it's like spending a couple hours with an old friend... an old friend who occasionally gets into massive mischief and mayhem. Definitely would recommend it, and in fact did to at dinner last night with about a dozen people. Go, have fun, and if you're still grinning hours later, don't be surprised. A movie that's fun, doesn't take itself too seriously, and has some wonderful special effects makes for a great summer film choice in my book, and this one fits the bill perfectly.

I really enjoyed the movie. I loved the analogies. Not to spoil anything, but . . . . a few hints are: the crates, the mummy, the tomb, the pests, the indians, and most of all -Shia LeBeouf's characters name!, just to name a small few. I liked the way they brought the entire series full circle. There was a lot of 'closure' and an homage to both Sean Connery (as Henry Jones Sr.) and the late Denholm Elliott (as Marcus Brody). There unfortunately was no such accolades (that I saw) for John Rhys-Davies (as Sallah). If you are a TRUE Indiana Jones fan, you will like this movie!

If you are a fan of the Indy movies and the Mummy movies you will like this. It lives up to the Indy movies of the past, I would not rate it as the better of the past three. Although it holds it on and brings a lot of to a close from past history. I like the tease at the end far as leaving the door open and using Shia LaBeouf in future movies believe me it starts with the door opening and the symbol of the hat. I will leave it at that!!

Although this movie isn't like the other Indy movies of my youth, it's still worth seeing.
Overall the movie was decent enough, but somehow the plot line (Not going into that here) was way out of the normal "Indy-ish" plots, which I think hurt it in the end. It felt more like an X-Files type thing, but that's just me.
Also, some of the humor was forced, and some of the special effects did seem sloppy, leading me to think that this movie might have been rushed. But I did like how they did pay homage back to the first three movies, and adequately explained the gap between the last movie and this one.
Long story short, I'll get this on Blueray eventually, but not on release day. =)

I don't know what to say, but I was totally deflated after seeing this movie. There were certainly some good scenes. Scenes that fit what you would think would be in an Indiana Jones movie. I was waiting for this for so long and I have no idea how Lucas/Spielberg could hack up this series. The story line you can buy, but just falls apart at the end. If you go see the movie don't watch the last 15 minutes and maybe you'll have a better feeling about it. The "look" of the movie was cartoon like at times. Why do they have to use technology just to use it. The style is different then all the other movies. If you're a New England Patriots fan ... it's like watching them lose the Super Bowl all over again.

I honestly didn't know what to think about this movie, but I'm sooo happy that I took my father to see it as an early Father's Day present. We both enjoyed it and Spielberg definitely picked up on Indie right where it left off going back to the Crusades! This movie was ludicrous. Granted, there are some far-fetched items in the other movies, but this one went to a whole new level.
Also, these two guys are supposed to be special effects masters, and most of the time, all I could think was "green screen".

everything about this film works except the titular crystal skull plot device...its stupid looking and leads to a very "un-indy" climax. Otherwise a great film though....fun action, spot on performances from everyone involved.

I took my 6 year old son and we had recently "rewatched" the previous three. This one doesn't miss a beat! It's got you begging for more and then delivers. My son couldn't stop talking about it until bedtime. I loved the previous 3 and this one measures up equally to all of them! It is a must see! Just bring some bug spray! It will have your skin crawling!

i was like a little kid in the theater. since the movie was set about 20 years later, we didn't get to see marcus or henry jones, sr and that was a little disappointing. took a few to get over the cheesy scripting at first, but once the movie really got going, the dialog got much better. one thing that disappointed me was they REALLY tried to rough harrison ford up, i think, to make him seem like he'd been through so much. boy was he not the hunk i love so much in the other movies. shallow, i know, but i love and miss my gorgeous indy.

I agree with another reviewer that this isn't up to par of Raiders or Last Cursade, but it's definitely better than Temple of Doom (what isn't?). I left the theatre satisfied that it was worth spending $11 on a ticket.
