Even in action movies, things should make sense. A supporting character with an obsessive tick can be cool if it's believable. Shia LeBoeuf pretending to be a greaser didn't really work for me. His hair was wrong, and it looked like he was trying too hard. On the other hand Harrison Ford didn't look like he was trying hard enough. His delivery, especially in the romantic scenes, felt like he was phoning it in.
Also, I don't know if I like the idea (and I'm about to blow the ending, so if you haven't seen it, stop reading now) of the intelligence and innovation of ancient Civilizations being attributed to space aliens. It seems this odd attribution only happens with non-European Civilizations, as if to imply in some way that the level of intelligence achieved could not have been reached without some kind of assistance.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls should have been called 60's sci-fi movie with Indiana Jones shoe-horned in.
The movie had many great action pieces, but there is more to Indiana Jones movies than action it is partially an attitude, and that attitude was sorely missing.
Everyone did well enough in their roles, but you really didn't care about anyone in the film, not even Indy.
The best way I could describe this to someone, is that if you disliked Attack of the Clones, you will probably dislike this movie, because it seems like Lucas wrote from a very similar place in both movies. Continual rehashes of previous action scenes, with almost no room for character...

The first 45 minutes of the movie was very interesting and appeared to be a great setup for the rest of the movie. Then, it "jumped the shark". The plot was set up and then it just went off the deep end. The characters were VERY underdeveloped in lieu of special effects. There was no chemistry between the main characters, unlike Raiders. Quite a few "homage's" to the series which were enjoyed. The climax and ending were disappointing. This movie was just 10 years too late and should have gone through a whole lot of screenplay revisions in order to make this a great movie. I was really disappointed as I had high hopes based on the last Indy film. Too bad.

Indie is aging quite gracefully and seems to be in top form and sharp as ever in the chase scenes and fight scenes. There are some over-the-top moments, sure, and sometimes the laws of nature don't really apply, and sometimes the story is a bit far-fetched, so you should put your sense of reality on the shelf one more time and just hang on and enjoy it!

I have been an Indiana Jones Fan from day 1 and , I have to admit, I was FULLY PREPARED "NOT" to like it as I had read numerous reviews from other "critics" about the movie ................ including Cannes. It's safe to say that I was "skeptical" that George Lucas, Spielberg, and especially Harrison Ford could pull it off, to say the least. Having now seen it a total of FOUR times in the past 2 days .......... IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN I COULD HAVE EVER HOPED FOR !! Anyone who CAN'T appreciated the Pure GENIUS and "FLY-BY-THE-SEAT-OF-YOUR-PANTS , NON-STOP FUN-AND-ADVENTURE " of this film needs to , seriously, GET A LIFE !! CLEARLY, in my mind, the second best INDY Adventure close behind "Raiders of the Lost Ark" !! I HIGHLY recommend this movie for ANY Movie fan , Indiana Jones fan or not , as you won't be disappointed. My Hats OFF to George, Steven, Harrison, and even Shia for creating a MASTERPIECE that I will enjoy for MANY years to come !! TRULY WORTH THE LONG WAIT !!

Indy fans will enjoy the humorous nostalgic tie-ins to the old relationships and films. Great entertaining family film. The graphic nature of some special effects (skeletons, dead bodies) may be disturbing to younger (8-13) children, depending on their maturity, and the opening scenes include graphic violence (without blood & gore) but the film was void of innappropriate language. All in all we had a great time! Here's my 9-year old boy's review: "It was the best indy movie ever.I couldn't beleve he survived the nuclear blast!! Some of the scenes are really really funny!"

I absolutely love Indiana Jones and could hardly wait to see this one. For me it was a little bit slow starting out but once Indy got started in the warehouse it was on! There was a good story line to this one underneath the search for the crystal skull which made the movie more enjoyable. Great action and some funny scenes too- just like the old Indy. But what happened at the end?

Excellent - and anyone who thinks otherwise should have been at some "blood and guts" movie and not a great movie that really entertained you. Typical slapstick jokes made you laugh, and the realization that Indy knows he is older and slower, made it flow even better. The stunt men were wonderful and made Indy appear as he always has in the past, fast moving and unbeliveable. Make way for the son of Indy - he is upcoming!!!

It was a great movie. Something happenening almost every moment and goes along well with the true Indiana Jones feel from the other films. A couple spots to cover small kids eyes but all in all great movie. Not like all the hollywood garbage coming out. No swearing that I remember. Just Indiana Jones as we knew and loved him.

I enjoyed the movie alot. Yes Harrison Ford has aged and I noticed that in the beginning which I beleive held me back from getting into the movie but I soon dropped that and enjoyed the movie at some point which I didn't even realize. Big fan of Ford's and I wasn't disappointed at all. Ready for the next one!!

As a life long Indiana Jones fanatic, I couldn't wait for this movie, and it certainly didn't disappoint! Although Indy is older, he hasn't lost a thing when it comes to being the most amazing action/adventure character ever created. Don't listen to the "nay-sayers' on the internet with regard to this movie ! There are too many opinionated, self-appointed film critics on the 'net who just love to bash a success story like the Indiana Jones franchise. Don't listen to the negatives. This is one fun pre-summer film. Emphasis on the word fun. No matter whether you were around when the first films were released or not, this film has something for all age groups. I found myself smiling, laughing out loud, cheering and yes, even getting a bit "misty-eyed" during this film. Thank the "maker" that Spielberg and Lucas can still take a pulp fiction character (and I mean this in the most complimentary way) and turn him into great, family fun ! How many films can you name nowadays that are just "fun" films?

I loved it! I thought it was so cool how the story was unfolded and the camera shots, and the action scenes; I found myself being swept up in the excitement! I love the score to these movies, and the love that I believe went into making this movie. The only only part that made me kinda mad was that they didn't say anything about what happened to indie's dad. didn't he drink out of the cup that would give eternal life?? But Anyway, I will definately buy this, and watch it over and over. I highly recommend.

After waiting 19 years for this instalment I expected nothing less from Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, Harrison Ford was amazing as always and did not mix a beat in recreating the image of Indian Jones. I brought my 8 year old son and his friend and for the 2 hours the boys were amazed at the action as I was was watching the pure enjoyment on their faces as they were introduced to the legend of Indian Jones. In fact they loved the movie so much that they both want to watch the first 3 movies. The special effects and the techenical aspect of the movie was Hollywod at its best.

Being of a "certain" age, this movie was highly entertaining because all the history references were known to me. I can imagine, however, that for younger viewers, some of it could have been confusing (i.e. the scene where the village is nuked). Obviously, Spielbeg and Lucas are of the same age as I, and they had fun putting this story together with some historical facts as well as a slightly hysterical novel take (the crystal skull and creatures from outer space). Highly entertaining and a must-see for everyone, even those who will miss the little historical nuances.

I took the family last night. Overall, the movie was OK. The end was a bit 'out there'. Not as good as the previous 2.

Had all the Indiana traits which made it enjoyable. You could predict several of the out comes, but who cares. Just sit back, Dont' take it seriously realize it's a movie and enjoy! I do not think you will be disappointed.

I thought the movie was pretty good but not as action-packed as the previous two Jones movies. Overall it was good but there were a number of slow scenes that could have been better or made to be a little less boring. But thankfully those scenes were relatively short.
