Much of the formula that made this a great serial: great action, exotic locations, one-liners, exploding heads, plenty of fauna to contend with, Williams' score, Lucas' special effects, Spielberg, & Ford. Unfortunately, as much a Star Wars fan as I am, I suspect the weaknesses probably stem from Lucas' penchant for kooky story telling. Plot & characters don't deliver as the credits & budget might suggest. Still a good movie & much better than the typical grist passing through the theaters these days. When will the next serial enthrall & captivate us?

This movie was better than expected. The surprises where thrilling. It was in the legue of the other Indiana Jones movies. The elements of history versus myth were true to form. Harrison Ford not only showed the grace and manly qualities from the past, but was dripping with distingushed gentlemenly age. Shia Lebouf has shown that he can play a multitude of characters and this role was no less then expected. I was taken by complete surprise to see the return of Indiana Jones true love. That for me came out of left field. I wish that I could have seen her play a more tougher character as before rather than the gentle mother who smiled a lot. Overall, I would see this movie again.

I wasnt sure what to expect going into this movies.After all this time how good could it be?It was fantastic!! Good movie with lot of action and no dragging. Some of the scenes reminded me of Mummy. Some actions are unreal, even after falling down from 3 water falls forget about getting hurt, their dress look (especially Indys' wifes') neater than before! But you will not get bored any where.

We thought Indiana Jones was very good. The action and surprises were really exciting to watch. I had to look away from a few really gross images until they were over. The ending was a little corny. Overall, it was a really fun movie, good relatively clean hollywood film compared to most movies today, and a great movie pick for my husband's birthday date night! Definitely would recommend it.

I am OLD... 35 and I grew up on the Indy movies. To keep this simple and short, the movie worth every penny you spend... but as an old school fan, NOTHING compared to the first 2 Indy films. We took our 15 year old son with us and he liked it a lot and the kids in the theater were having a good time too! Go out and enjoy, with the price of gas going up at this rate... we won't be able to go out to movies soon enough!

George Lucas and Mr Spielberg need to spend some more effort in story and dialog. Just because it says Indiana Jones doesn't mean it's going to work with such a lame story. Just like George tried to ruin the Star Wars franchise, they've now begun to ruin Indy.

Okay, I was not really hyped to see this movie, even though I did see the originals way back when. To me they are just "Man Action Flicks"... but my 14 year old daughter and I accompanied my husband, who just couldn't wait to see it... We had a great time... we laughed so hard. The predicaments they got themselves out of without so much as a scratch... we couldn't stop laughing! And when all the boulders and rocks are hurling through the air and not one of them hit... too hilarious.. Oh and c'mon they fall down 3 waterfalls in a convertible and he still has his hat... and clothes that dry in two minutes... amazing... I thought this was an action flick, didn't know it was a comedy... we had a great time!

KOCS is action-packed, funny, a bit scary, and exactly what a summer blockbuster/popcorn movie is supposed to be--two hours of sheer entertainment. Above and beyond that, this movie accomplishes exactly what it sets off (and needs) to do--it reintroduces the Indy franchise/brand to the market, it pays some homage to the original three movies, and finally, it creates a bridge from the past to the future. Shia LaBeouf was a fantastic choice to play Mutt--kudos to the casting director who made that decision. He has a great rapport with the rest of the cast, and fits the role perfectly. Cate Blanchett does a decent job of her role as well--who knew that Queen Elizabeth/Galadriel could pull off playing a stereotypical Cold War Russian babe (ala Natasha from Underdog) so well? Then again, she *is* an Oscar winner. While I thought I heard a tad of a British accent peeking through every once in a while, it was a solid performance. Karen Allen was the appropriate choice to return as Indy's lasting love interest, and the years have treated her well. While not as much of a central character to the movie as she was in Raiders, she does a decent job with the material she's given. It seems to take a little while for Harrison Ford to allow Indy to fully emerge from wherever he's been stored for the last 19 years, but he finally does. It's worth noting that Indy seems most Indy-like when Mutt shares that screen with him; Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf play off each other very well. It's also worth noting that Harrison Ford has allowed Indy to age gracefully. While Ford is still in excellent shape for a 66-year-old, and pulls off some decent stunts and fight scenes in a totally believable manner, it would have been cringe-inducing to see him trying to act like a 40-something Indy. The introduction of Mutt (who can pull off the same stunts--and more--as the younger Indy) and the fact that the movie accepts that 19 years have passed makes the rest of it all work. The plot does leave some unanswered questions and some "Huh?" moments, but plot doesn't seem to be a summer blockbuster film's strong spot, anyway. A more strongly-plotted film may have been desirable, but this one works well enough. For fans of the original three films, there are nostalgic hat tips to each of them, with a playful nod to Ford's other blockbuster Lucasfilm role as well ("I've got a bad feeling about this.") At the screening I attended, the movie ended to light but sincere applause from the audience. All in all, I'd recommend this with no hesitation. See it in the theater; it's what summer movie-going is meant to be!

I would say go and see this movie, but don't expect to dive deeply into any plot points. It's very visually pleasing, funny at times with lots of one liners, with a wink or two to old Indy movies and characters. I enjoyed it but there weren't a tremendous amount of surprises or plot twists. It's Cotton Candy for the brain, and if you approach it that way you'll have a good time. :)

I am sad to say this was an average movie. It falls far behind The Last Crusade and Raiders. Too fantastical and leaves behind the roots of IJ series. The "villian" was not as pure evil as the others and there was no emphasis on saving the world. The characters were poorly developed and Mutt was just plain awful. Who ever that actor is, he was terrible. I of course had high hopes and was very disappointed. If you have no history with IJ series, it is an average movie. If you are looking forward to IJ as a fan, you may want to wait for netflix.

Many reviews of "Indiana Jones atKotCS" are right on the money with criticisms of weak character development, bizarre sci-fi themes, convenient (and frequent) violations of the laws of physics, and almost comical villains. However, that's EXACTLY what makes it fit the genre! The old, Saturday matinée serials with obvious stage sets, tons of physical stunts, gags, and edge-of-your-seat escapes from "certain doom" occurring so fast the audience doesn't have time to say, "oh, that's just not possible!" This was a fun romp that included every bit of swash-buckling-slap-stickiness the true genre fans deserve.

This isn't the best of the Indiana Jones movies, but it's definitely a worthwhile showing. Harrison Ford has aged to perfection and Shia Le Boeuf is a worthy successor and will keep the series going, that is, if Harrison is done, which he certainly does not need to be. There's lots of action and comedy. I will see it again, and probably buy the whole franchise on DVD when they come out.

First, I enjoyed this move. It's another in a long line of additional films in successful franchises, and as "just another episode in an olde time serial," it was fine. However, taking it out of the era in which we came to know him so well and dropping Indy into the '50's is pretty jarring. This means the movie had to use a lot of throwaway lines to explain how things came to be, and that just didn't work that well. My biggest complaint is that a great deal of the plot was lifted from the Brendan Fraser "Mummy" franchise. There's nothing new, and too much unexplained here. But in the end, I came out of the theater whistling the theme and hope there might be another Indiana Jones movie. Maybe with mummies.

I found this movie to succeed in both captivating my attention for a couple of hours, and keep in accordance with the previous films. I thought this was a great film. It was exactly what I was hoping for, another Indiana Jones movie. It was fun and well-paced. A classic Indy movie with chase scenes, archeological clues and legends, romance, etc. Yes the aliens were a little much for me but it's such a small part of the film that who cares. Nice that he's not trying to be younger then he is nor that he hooked up with some young thing. Kept it real in that sense. I do see Disney modifying it's IJ ride to accommodate the story. I was surprised to see the theater ready for long lines and no one in them. Then once inside the theater I realized the age group that it was really appealing to: older than 25. It was a good movie, I would recommend it, and had fun watchiing it!

People are lining up to laugh at the use of the crystal skull myth, and the idea of extra-terrestrial influence on Mayan culture. The ET thing was a popular theory in the early 20th century, discredited by most modern research including the deciphering of a lot of Mayan hieroglyphs in the 1970s. However, there are still some very striking and interesting allegorical and factual concepts played with in the movie. Some people scoff at movies like 'Apocalypto' and 'Crystal Skull' but I find it interesting that these are the topics showing up in the public consciousness, no matter how the topics manifest or are handled. Great movie, incidentally

If Indiana Jones was supposed to convey a senior with diminished mental capacity then Harrison Ford nailed it. Spielberg,Lucas & Ford great combination but not this time. Ford is a veteran actor and has played this role many times before. His line delivery was at times very forced and plastic. The story was hard to follow and for Lucas and Spielberg, unacceptable. The wonderful music got you ready for big moments but other than the special effects, disappointing.

It's almost impossible NOT to see IJ movies because I really enjoy Harrison Ford. Overall I liked it, however, I wish they had not pursued the alien story line. Of the past movies, I've enjoyed the mysterious artifact plot in the good versus evil story line. I thought the "bad guy" in this movie didn't get dealt with in a way that made me feel they got what they deserved. The entire time spent in the warehouse stealing the mummy never developed in to anything that IJ had to resolve.....so why did we spend all that time on the segment of story? The special effects were good and I was entertained, but I frankly expected more from Spielberg relative to "edge of the seat" unpredictable action/adventure. Shia LeBeouf was a great casting choice. Go see it....just have realistic expectations....and you won't be disappointed.

I would recommend this movie for all the "Old die hard" fans of the Indiana Jones series from the 80s. It was a lot of fun. The special effect and theme were a typical Indiana Jones setting/mood. It was like being back in time, but with a much older Harrison Ford. Good thing I'm not getting older! Anyway, it was a lot of fun.

My wife and I saw the latest Indiana film last night. We both had a good time and enjoyed the movie. It was what you would expect from an Indiana Jones movie: action, comedy, and cool special effects. I felt (like many other block-buster films these days) that this latest film focused more on wow-factor of special effects than story and character development. The three previous films spent more time explaining the significance of the ark, the human sacrificing cult in India, and the holy grail, while the new one glossed over the story of the skull and extra-terrestrial life quite a bit. That being said, I will add this to my Indiana Jones library when it comes out on DVD.

What can I say about the writers and director. The same magic of the old Indy movies, even after so many years, shows the wealth of talent Lucas/Koepp and Spielberg have. Definitely should be watched.
