Unfortunate. That's about the best word I can come up with for this hodge podge of Universal Studios theme park ride backgrounds and week dialogue remeniscent of the horrid Star Wars prequels. How dare they! How dare Lucas and Spielberg drum up such a contorted film and slap the Indiana Jones title to it. Did anyone honestly walk away from it with the satisfactory feelings they did from the previous 3? I knew within the first 5 minutes of dialogue in the Area 51 scene that It was going to be lame. Why do they need to do this? Why do they need to slap the "when I was younger" jokes into a storyline they've decided to return to? Why do they need to over explain everything? I don't need to know what Indy has been doing since 1942 or whenever it was. Just tell the story later in his life and let it be. Indiana Jones running away from a huge stone ball, or 200 natives...OK, surviving an atomic blast in a lead-lined refrigerator??? Come on! Throw in the tacky dialogue between Indy and Marion and a wedding scene and you've got another great story killed by one too many sequels. Much like Terminator, Back to the Future, Rocky and hundreds more. Speaking of hundreds more...how about the plethora of Indiana Jones novels cramming Barnes and Noble stores throughout the country that they could have chosen from for a movie. Let's throw in a purple light saber and a "boy it's colder than carbonite" line after the water falls scene. Thanks Lucas and Spielberg. Can't wait for Indiana Jones 5...Son of Indy.

I have watched all the Indiana Jones movies so far and this was a little off the charts for me. I wasn't expecting it to be about aliens and stuff .. once the aliens started showing up, to me it wasn't Indiana Jones anymore ... With that being said, it was still an entertaining movie .. it probably didn't help that I watched this when it first came out (12:01am) and of course by 1:00, I was starting to get bored .. I would still recommend this movie but I would give a little side note that it's not as good as you would think it is ... after YEARS of thinking and planning for another Indiana Jones movie, I was expecting something better..

I thought it an excellent installment in the series. It had all the elements we love, action, self-deprecating humor, good byplay between Indy, Marion and Mutt (Great name for the son of a man named after a dog!), exotic scenery, and pushed the envelope by adding the alien angle. Allen gives a very satisfying performance, with less of the sharpness of her original role, but more compassion (she's apparently grown up in the interim--and so has Indy... ). Single greatest moment: the sword fight between Mutt and the Russian villainess, (excellently portrayed by Cate Blanchett) atop speeding (of course) jeeps. LaBeouf was perfect as Mutt, and Ford is ALWAYS perfect as Indy.

We were looking forward to the release of this movie for a long time. While it was good, it wasn't the "old" Indy movie. Special effects at times were too unbelievable. ie: destruction of temple (no rocks hit Indy) & car chase/fight scene. We agree with review of magnetic effect overplayed. Why didn't guns, flashlights, jeeps pull toward it. We liked the loose ends it tied up. (Girlfriend & Son & reference to father) I have knowledge and used a crystal skull, so that was an interesting story line. My wife says "Indy has still got it!" We both enjoyed the movie and will add it to the Indiana Jones collection.

So of course, go see it...it's Indy for God's sake. Dont expect all the crazy stunts we saw in the theaters. Ford isnt in need of a walker or anything, far from it and he still does a great job. All of the staples are there...the chase scene, the fight with the big baddie, even the production has the same aesthetics as the original trilogy. So yes, the movie fits in great with the others...however......this movie did miss where the others hit. The humor isnt as punchy as we've seen, key characters from the past are missing (due to death and/or casting), and the storyline is nowhere NEAR as solid as the others and that is my main reason for 2 stars. It's watchable, mildly enjoyable, but the chemistry we loved about the other movies is lacking here.

This is a great movie for 12-15 years olds. Non-stop action with great effects. Virtually no depth to the story. It was as if Lucas and Spielberg looked at the memorable scenes from the first movie and tried to recreate a patch work of similar scences, based soley on special effects. By simply removing the rare foul language and some fairly gruesome special effects, this could have been rated PG and succeeded with a broader range of kids, too.

I loved Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was suspensfull and excitiing. Afew new twists, but still very enjoyable. Not as good as Raiders of the Ark, but much better then Temple of Doom. I have told my friends and family about the movie. I also want to see it again.

If you liked the first 3, you'll like this one. If you didn't like the first 3, then skip this one. It's that simple. My husband and have been Indiana Jones fans from the first movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark". We did not like the "Temple of Doom", however. But this one, as the other two, was great. It had a good mix of action, humor and special effects, just an over all fun adventure and good time at the movies!

I did enjoy the new Indiana Jones film. I liked the references to the old films and the familiar use of shadows that were in the olds films. I did not like the holes in the story and how it ended. If I wanted Close Encounters or X-files, I would watch those movies. I didn't really want Indy and sci-fi to mix. It de-legitimizes the power of the ark and the holy grail. The trilogy was great but this one doesn't match the other three. almost ruined. I give it three stars just because I wanted to like it more.

I loved all of the Indiana Jones movies and had high hopes that this one would be great. It was good, but it was trite and the story line was thin. I was disappointed with the dialogue and even the action scenes were not what they used to be, but then again, Harrison Ford is 60 years plus and it wouldn't have been realistic to see him doing things that clearly his 60-year-old body couldn't do. And we would have known it was a stunt double. Cate Blanchett was very good and Karen Allen looked great. I love Harrison Ford, but I think it's time to hang up the hat.

Very entertaining and enjoyable. Good but could have been great. It really felt like the previous Indy movies except for one key thing..it was missing a stong second actor/actress. Harrison Ford was awesome but noone stepped up to be #2. All the supporting actors were pretty wishy washy with Ford shining but he just can't carry the whole film...although he tried!

This felt like AI; Spielberg trying to save a fragmented and uncaring story. George Lucas needs fresh minds around him to tell him when his ideas stink. I imajine he is surrounded by a bunch of yes men/women who are too scared to disagree with him. I looked forward to this movie so much, behaving like a kid every time the previews were on (im 44), dying with anticipation. (like star wars) Instead the classinc Indi was there glued together by the most mornic script (worse than star wars) ever to leave Luca's hand. The media has been way to nice; this movie, with the exception of seeing Harrisson Ford and friends, once again, reminding us of the magic these movies once created, COMPLETEY SUCKED CRYSTAL CRANEUMS.

So the movie was gimicky, retro, and didn't sport the best writing... So it didn't have convincing characterization, or any meaningful continuity of plot with the previous three installments in the franchise. All this is forgivable. I mean, come on... Sean Connery in the last film was a classic sign of death-throes, but pulled it off with style of a sort.
However, when it comes to aliens... Give me a break. Roswell? "Living Dead" temple guardians who were apparently built into the architecture? Cate Blanchett as a Russian with varicolored eyes, lines seemingly written by a third-grader, and bad lighting? These things are unforgivable. Oh, yeah, and Harrison Ford's neck wattle. That was TERRIBLY attractive.
I wouldn't recommend this to a friend if compelled. I can only hope, in the fullness of time, to forget that this appalling spectacle exists.

We're huge Indiana Jones fans and couldnt' wait for this movie to arrive. If this had been the first Indy movie we'd ever seen, we would have been blown away. Unfortunately, those of us familiar with the series probably set our expectations too high! This was a great, fun adventure. Completely new twists (a son, a wife, aliens) that we weren't expecting, and made it even more fun. An older Harrison Ford was an interesting hero, still as believable and he's still doing his own stunts. Go see the movie, you won't be disappointed!

First off, the movie was visually stunning. By far, the best looking of the series. It was amazing how the cgi sets/backdrops and the actors seemed to be filmed as if it were an actual set. The film, however, lacked the charm and appeal of the original three. Harrison Ford seemed pretty rigid this time around. I understand that he is supposed to be older and saltier, but he just seemed to be going through the motions. The chemistry between him and Karen Allen from the first film was absent. It was almost as if they mailed it in and stayed home. The pacing of the movie was very well timed. There is a lot more action packed into this movie than the previous films. Based on the the look of the film, the action and the timing of it, I would say this film is above average. Third best of the series (behind Raiders & Crusade but ahead of Temple).

In Short, while it's not Raiders of the Lost Ark, nothing is. As another movie in the Indiana Jones series. It's great. It keeps with the supernatural essence, great humor at the right times and the fact the movie was shot to look old was even a nice touch. Harrison still has the chops and I think this movie will please any indy fan.
