Overall, the film did its job, it entertained us. And we had a good time. The only criticism I have is that the "bad" guys weren't bad enough. The whole red scare thing/McCarthy-ism was real enough then but it wasn't made a real enough scare in the film. Cate Blanchett's character seemed to working on her own more than having big bosses she had to report to. The film had all the things one expects from Indiana Jones - great effects, Indy kicking butt and wild chases. The motorbike chase at my alma mater was particularly good!

A great romp, true to Indiana Jones tradition. True, you have to suspend belief, but that's always been half the fun of it. Great sets - nice blend of great sets and added CGI. All and all would recommend for a fun evening.

For those of you who are Indy fans of the past, you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. Harrison Ford may have a few more gray hairs on his head, but he admirably steps right back into the boots of Indiana Jones without missing a beat, and even jokes about his age along the way. Typical Indy storyline, missing relic, whose history is clouded by deftly mixing historical facts with mysterious legends. Ultimately Indy needs to stop the bad guys and he doesn't disappoint in the action department. Apart from the few times where believability utterly goes out the window, George Lucas gives his loyal fans just what they've been looking for; action, escapism, mixed in with a dash of humor. Two thumbs up!

The calvary used to have a saying..."When the horse is dead...dismount!" I loved the 1st Indy movie. The second was rancid. The third redeemed the name of Indiana Jones. And then they made this one...The 4th was equivalent to a 20 car pile-up (you gotta watch it regarless of the pain surrounding the whole thing.) A 2 hour string of cliches, unbelievable acrobatics and second rate actors surround Harrison Ford as he attempts to prove he is still an action hero. We all wanted to see him succeed in this pitiful attempt at reliving the glory days but were left with an embarassment for the overplayed antics and superficial plot. A word of advice for Mr. Ford..."We still love ya buddy! It's time to stick to the romantic leads and dramatic roles. We will keep going to your movies. You have earned a spot among the greats. But please do not try to find any more long lost relics, swim the piranna filled rivers, wrestle anacondas or jump the grand canyon in a rocket. You are a better actor than these movies will ever allow you to show."

Disappointing. Mostly rehashed ideas and special effects. Sort of X-Files meets Lost Ark, with some Die Hard 4 thrown in for good measure. Ford still has the old Indy twinkle but the overall effect was more embarrassing than enjoyable.

After reading both good and not so good reviews of this movie, I still took my daughters to see it. I don't usually base my choice on seeing a movie from a review. Well, maybe the new Speed Racer movie, but not usually. All of us enjoyed the movie. So what if the plot wasn't anything we've seen before. But, there was enough action and antics to make the movie good enough. However, I was hoping to see something "extra" at the end of the credits.

If you like theme parks, this is the movie for you. If you prefer a movie with at least a bit of substance, don't bother. A typical current day action flick, one stunt after another. Why bother hiring actors, I always wonder? Most of the screen time is with stunt doubles. That might had been a good thing since the characters are so one sided and uninteresting. My nine-year-old son thought the earlier Indy movies he watched on video had "too much talking" at the beginning of them, but he absolutely loved the new one. Before we even left the theater, he was asking when it came out on dvd and if we could see it again in the theater.

It was a fun, family film. I wish they would make more like them. I think the PG-13 rating is a little severe. I think you could easily take 10 to 12 year olds as well. I expected the suspense and some snakes, but I wasn't prepared for the humor -- it was a comedy too!

Very well done. I’m not usually a great fan of sequels, but along with Star Wars, the Indiana Jones story is more like an epic saga, and this "installation" was done quite nicely and well within the Indy "theme."
They certainly stuck with a tried and true storyline. I won't spoil the plot with specifics, but as you'd expect, Indy gets called upon to help out his buddy by solving a mystery. He gets mixed up with some bad military guys. He decrypts the puzzle and saves the day.
There were quite a few interesting historical fiction references that I thought were quite clever. Again, I don't want to spoil the plot by being too specific, but keep your eyes and ears open for these sometimes subtle references.
Featuring a female nemesis was an interesting choice, and it worked out well. She was evil, but I didn't feel like I was meant to "hate" her. Shia Lebeouf also did a great job. His role stared out a little cheesy, but developed well.
There was just a little too much of that dramatic lighting at the beginning. The sort where most of the scene is subdued, and the actor’s faces are lit up a bit more in that silvery light. It’s an interesting effect, but Spielberg went a little overboard at first.

It was great, it was fun! Lots of new action sequences, subtle CGI, and globe-trotting. Most impressive was Harrison Ford's ability to jump right back into his Indy character - and the dude is still buff and agile even at age 65. He was awesome! The sci-fi artifact wasn't his strongest in comparison to the ark of the covenant or the cup of Christ... and the end scene was too domestic - should've been cooler. But overall another good addition to the Indy legacy!

I will not pretend to be a super huge Indiana Jones fan. I loved the earlier movies, but I'm not going to get too deep into this storyline and that CGI effect. The bottom line is, this is a fun and entertaining movie, which is great for the whole family. There was no unnecessary violence. I didn't need to see people getting shot and blood spewing about. And I didn't. Thankfully. I would have no reservations about taking my nieces and nephews to see this. It's a good time. If you're looking for Oscar-worthy performances that you can critique and dissect, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a good time and a couple laughs, go see this movie.

The movie was worth seeing, but did not hold up favorably when compared to the previous Indiana Jones movies. The ending of the movie was "flat". It left much to be desired. Although I did like the movie, it did leave much to be desired. The performance of the actors was superb, but the plot and story line could have been a whole lot better.

Growing up watching these movies and loving each one, I really was excited about this one. The movie was highly disappointing. First, the story line was pretty "out there" (as if Speilberg was trying to mix his love for space with Indy) and frankly I thought the acting wasn't all that great as well. That even goes for Harrison - which I would attribute to the script more than anything else. You would have thought we'd see something far more interesting than what I saw. Indy doesn't go out with a bang - that's for sure.
