This movie was funny. It did have a few adult innuendos, but I really don't think any child would catch it. The children loved it and our youngest was already asking if we could purchase the movie on dvd. I definitely would recommend this movie to anyone.

I know that it was made for 8 year olds. That being said... My son enjoyed it, but not to the point that he is dying to see it again. It is a typical Dreamworks flick. Big name voice talent, popular culture references galore and rotten writing! Another lame example of why Pixar is by far the best at what they do.This whole movie's story line could have fueled a Pixar short! Thank goodness I didn't waste the extra money on 3D tickets. I'll wait for "UP" to do that.

I enjoyed this movie very much. It touched my heart, made me laugh and it was very clever. I loved all the references to those great B movies of the 50s. The animation was very realistic looking! The kids sitting next to me a couple seats over with their Mom seemed to enjoy it, too. There was a smattering of applause at the end of the movie and I clapped along with them. That's always a nice thing to experience at a movie. My favorite character? Ginaormica!

I have to admit I was reluctant to see it so early but I decided to go since my husband loves to go out on dates to the movies. I'm glad we went and saw it and BOB was the character that all the movies have to make it what it is!! Not to mention knowing whom did the voice makes it so much better and even funnier!! We went to see the 3d version with my 6 year old son and it was great. The movie is very funny for kids and adults, it's fast moving, very entertaining and definitely ranks up there with some of the best in this class like the original monsters inc etc...

I did not see this movie in 3D, but there were only a few places in the film where I felt I was "missing something" by only seeing it in 2D. The characters were well-voiced and the animation/effects looked great. Given the promos for the film, the first "real" scene almost made me think I was watching a different movie. But, things quickly fell into place. There was humor aimed at the parents (e.g., Close Encounters reference, Saturday Night Fever-themed costumes), but the action was a hit with the younger moviegoers. The plot is thin, but acceptable given the target audience. And, the "be yourself" message is one that can benefit all ages. The ending leaves open the possibility of a sequel, so you never know when these monsters may return!

My 3 year old and my 7 year old thought it was good, but they both said others were better. The humor was too adult for them to understand, but my husband, myself and our parents thought it was quite funny in parts. The beginning of the movie drags on a bit with an adult theme, but within about 10 minutes, it was more interesting for the kiddos. If you need to kill a couple of hours, it is worth a looksee, but don't have your expectations too high.

Another good family movie from Dreamworks, with laughs for adults and kids alike (references to 80s movies were great for the parents in the audience!). Decent story line, with the message about being true to yourself. The first thing my daughter (age 10) said when the movie was over: can we buy it when it comes out on DVD? I would say YES! My son (age 7) said this was the best movie he's ever seen.

My kids loved this movie. We did not see the 3D version as I was not sure how the monsters would appear to my 3 yr old. I have a 7yr old and a 3 yr old that both loved the movie.
