I thoroughly enjoyed the movie-enjoyed the laughs and the surprises. However, the fact that HP was freely roaming London on the Tube in the beginning was preposterous-especially with the Death Eaters hunting for him so much and actually invading much of the "muggle" world.
There were other times when Hollywood avoided the book and opted for a sensational shot-like the Burrow burning.
My warning to parents is that this movie should NOT be PG. I do not know how they acquired that rating. Ice Age is PG-dead bodies floating around and jumping on Harry's back is NOT. Luckily I read the book and knew what would be in the movie.

Number 6 treats us to mature actors and characters and the fantastic cinematography we've come to expect from HP films, but more so than usual, fans of the books are sure to be disappointed with the short shrift given to major plot points and themes. Most conspicuously missing is the full explanation for the title. Who is the Half Blood Prince and why should we care? The first question is answered, albeit quickly; the second is not. While I enjoyed the film and will recommend it to fans, overall I consider it the weakest of the most recent installments. Call this one "Harry Potter Lite" and be grateful you read the book first.

I think that this movie will make those that have not read the books, want to do so.

A great movie! Thoroughly entertaining the entire time! The only bad thing was the movie was being shown on two screens at the theatre I went to, and one of the screens was oversold, so people had to scramble to find seats for the other screen. The ushers did nothing to help people find seats. I am very glad that I saw the movie, but I do not recommend the Fox Cinema in Laramie, WY.

I have taken my children to every Harry Potter and hands down this is the best one yet!! There were so many funny moments which you cannot help but laugh out loud, the special effects were out of this world!! The wizardry used in this chapter were incredible....the fact that the actors were aloud to be "adults" in this one was the best part because their own personalties added a wonderful touch. I won't give away any details...but I can say that there are two parts where you cannot help but say "it's about time" !!! go and see the movie ---it is outstanding!!

I saw HBP twice. First time, I was a little disappointed. That could have been because it was at midnight and I was sitting 5 rows from the screen. I saw it the next day with better seats in the theatre and I loved the movie!!!! I was really looking forward to the fighting scene at the end but it wasnt in the movie or funeral scene but the rest of the movie was wonderful. Humorous, special effects were great, all the stars were wonderful! It is still Harry Potter and a must see for everyone. It is definately one of my favorites!

The first hour or so looked more like an episode of DeGrassi at Hogwarts to me. Yes, I understand that is part of growing up, but where is the Harry Potter/Magic/Fight scene (I heard a really good one was left on the cutting room floor...was that just to generate $$ from a director's cut DVD?).
Overall, an "alright" movie, but I wish I would have waited to see the DVD (hopefully this is on TV before the DH movie comes out in LATE 2010).

To keep it simple, sweet: it was a good, solid movie with great cinematography and good humor. But it was lacking on the drama and action side. What started out so dark and sinister didn't carry through the movie, but was overtaken by the romantic developments. The ending was weak, more like a poof, than a Kaboom... But still worth watching!

A fairly good Harry Potter movie. The biggest disappointment was the deviations from the book at the very end of the movie and with an overall slower feel to the movie that made the 2 1/2 hours feel more like 3 1/2.

It is extremely close to the book, and although it is extremely long it is well done throughout, Great Job to all the people involved in this movie! Although I enjoyed this movie, I wish it had been more action packed as some of the others. I also realize that they can't put everything from the book into the movie, but I would have rather been entertained by the action scenes as opposed to some of the back story on Ron/Hermoine and Harry/Ginny. We all know who ends up with whom and some of those scenes could have been left out and the action/fight scene at Hogwart's definitely needed to be in the movie!!!

Best Harry Potter movie so far. I'm a huge fan of the books and have been disappointed with some of the other movies, but not so here. There are always going to be differences between the book and movie, but they did an excellent job with the changes that were made.

Definately one of the best suspensful Harry Potters yet. However, it did leave me feeling a little let down, like it was missing something. Couldnt quite put my finger on it. Not sure what? Just felt like they could have added a little more into the movie to make it come together better.

This film introduced unexpected humor which meshed well with the darkness of the rest of the plot.
As usual, the movie could not contain the book. However, I think less time could have been spent focusing on the budding teenage romances, and more on the complex plots that carry into the next book/movies. Cutting down on some of the teen flirting and "snogging" would have left precious minutes where important scenes involving the memories of Voldermort and Dumbledore's mission for Harry could have been expanded.
Teenage focus aside, I found the movie to be excellent. The visual effects were astounding and I also appreciated Dumbledore's last act of magic in the film, which showed his tremendous power and grace one last time.

I was hoping to see a more serious movie with the final battle scene being given importance but it was deleted completely. No one woke up even while Bellatrix was destroying the Great Hall.The burrow scene was not at all there in the book.Hermione asks Harry why he had tipped the lucky potion in Ron's drink not Luna.My husband even though a non-reader of the book,finds it greatly disappointing though he enjoyed all the previous movies.We thought of going to see the movie twice or thrice but now after seeing the movie yesterday, we decided not to.

Movies are never as complete as the book. They're not long enough, but this one was as good as any movie to follow a book. I enjoy the fact that the mood was lightened a bit after #5 even though the backstory is grim. The evolution of the relationships was tender and sweet compared to many heavy handed films of today. The fact that the human story had a bit of humor in it made the dramatic changes much more startling. Half the audience in the center section jumped out of their seats and then had to laugh at themselves because they were so startled at one point. I had a very good time. Because the special effects were so good, I'd like to see it in 3D.

Should have been a 2 part movie like the "Deathly Hallows!" Too much was left ou. The Dursley's weren't even in the movie, you don't know that Fudge was fired or who the new Minister of magic is. It doesn’t show Harry, Hermione and Ron confronting Malfoy and his mother in the robe shop and then sneaking out of the joke store to follow Draco to Borgan & Burkes or Tonks being the one to find Harry under the invisibility cloak on the train the had Luna find Harry. that was the majority of the first 4 or 5 chapters that they left out. This is by far the best Harry Potter movie in the series, to date. It stayed the most true to the book and everyone involved gave a stellar performance.

Loved it, got the main points in from the book. Yea you always wish they could have gotten it all in but you and only do so much in 2 1/2 hours. Will try to take my mom to see it!!

Overall, this was a decent interpretation of the book. For Harry Potter purists, you will be mildly disappointed not only with things that were omitted (Riddle's history, Gaunts, Castle Battle, Dumbledore's funeral), but the things that were added that added little to no value to the plot (burning of the Burrow). The main component that was missing was the memories of Tom Riddle. That is a major part of book 6 and it wasn't given appropriate attention.

While not happy about 2 major plot points they cut out from the book, I still enjoyed the movie overall. It was really funny in a lot of parts Parts of it seemed to go too "quickly" but it was a very enjoyable movie and I plan to see it again in the theater while it is still running. I'm a die hard HP fan, but i also recognize that the movies are seperate from the books. If JK signs off on the movies and doesnt make a fuss about plot points being removed, and they are HER books, I figure who am I to make a fuss either? Go and enjoy the movie for what it is.. a movie BASED on a book.

Terrible. Read the book, but don't go to the movie. I went to the early matinee for only 6 bucks and that was a waste. Boring boring boring ! !
