While I liked this movie, I didn't love it. It ventured off from the book and redid the ending. Should have followed the book for the ending and not rewritten. This is not the best Harry Potter movie of the series. It's equal with the others in tone, etc. But disappointing.

Poeple were clapping before the movie started in the sold out theater, but not one person claped when it was over. As a huge fan of the books I was beyond excited for this movie and the rumors that is was based more closely to the book than any of the other five. The ending was horrible. They focused way to much of the kids growing up. There was NO fight at all!! after harry and dumbledore got back. And the burrow scene, people started to boo and laugh during that part it didnt make any sence at all."Overall" (and you will be seeing that fraze alot with this movie) it was good. The characters have grown and it was very funny. Graphics were great and the evil tone was'nt forgotten. Although so much more could have been shown.

Considering previous movies, HBP exceeds my expectations for overall quality. I do have complaints with instances of rather poor special effects, the addition and deletion of significant scenes, and the plot's loss of subtlety. For example, a scene features Draco leaning against the railing of a tower while the camera flies by. Draco’s hands clearly move up and down *through* the railing, rather than staying firmly against it. Furthermore, Dumbledore's funeral was filmed but eliminated because it “did not fit the mood of the movie”. Considering that the entire mood of D's death scene was changed, the viewer is left with no opportunity for closure regarding the death of D. The fictitious wand-vigil simply doesn't cut it.

If you haven't read the books you would probably be thrilled. They just can't do what Rollins does in 2.5 hours. Lots of details missing...back story...explanation. I did a lot of whispering to the person who went with me to explain...she hasn't read the books. I think they honored most of the story as well as to be expected. However, I was disappointed that they actually CHANGED part of the story. They haven't done that before. The entire scene at the end with Dumbledore is not acurate to the book. I hope they spilt the last book into two movies so they can explain more and get more in. All and all a great movie. They need a 3 hour movie with intermission :)

I am a BIG harry potter fan! I have read all of the books, many of them multiple times. I LOVE the harry potter books. Usually with the movies I am extremely dissapointed with them, especcialy the fifth one, But the half-blood prince was AMAZING! They did it great! I liked it, but as others have said, there was a lot missing. It's a good bridge movie between Phonix and the next, 2-part finale. You definitely need to know the characters and situations going in or it will make little sense.

I did like the movie, thought that was very good work on computer graphics, wonderful music and of course actors characters play! Desired: more intense fights, the scene with the killing of Dumbledore. The "Friends and Love" scene as well desired to be much more magical. For the fans of Harry Potter who have never read the books, this will probably be one of the best movies in the Harry Potter series. For those of us who have read the books extensively, and are waiting for that one breakout Harry Potter movie, all I can say is hopefully the two part final movie will be the one movie we have all been waiting for. As usual, the new Harry Potter film was a huge success. It was very well made, and intensly entertaining. Although us fans don't like so many important aspects to be changed and cut out, (like the historical scenes with Tom Riddle's mother... and such) we have to accept the fact that these movies have to leave things out that the book had, or else it would be a 5 hour movie. Haha. Also, I enjoyed all the young love/hormones that are finally being shown. I just loved it! I hope everyone does too :)

Well, I went to see this right away because of all the hype and positive reviews. Sadly, I don't believe it lived up to it. Where was the awesome end battle? Where was Dumbledore posing his theories of the seven Horcruxes? Where was the true agony and horror Dumbledore experiences drinking from Voldemort's cursed liquid? And where was the pleading of a broken man to Snape? The movie started out good, but the end really fizzled and left no direction for the final two films. So, should you see it? Sure, for the romance and outstanding performances from Emma Watson and Tom Felton. But if you want action, suspense, drama and, most important, story, wait until it comes out on DVD, where hopefully there will be a lot of deleted scenes.

Although obviously it is a difficult task to make a 700 plus page book into a 2.5 hour movie this movie fell short. The effects were good but a lot of things were left out as always. What bothers me is that the things that did make the movie were not accurate to the books with some parts being created seemingly out of the blue. The parts that were good were good but overall I was a tad dissapointed. Hopefully the last one will do justice to the wonderful novels that this one obviously could not.

Personally, I quite enjoyed Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I found that all the characters were three-dimensional, and the script was engaging and entertaining.
I understand that many parts of the movie were pruned out, but if they had stayed in, the movie would have been 4 hours long! Perhaps WB should have split this in two also?
Overall, I have no complaints at all on HP6. I believe that the screenwriter did an excellent job filling holes in the script, and the special effects were astounding.

When I first saw this movie I was disappointed by the amount of information left out from the book. But when I saw the movie for a second time, I realized there was no possible way to add in the information adored by readers without withdrawing the appeal of the movie to non-readers.
In addition to being a great Harry Potter movie, the character development was greater than in previous films. You really get to see Harry, Ron and Hermione interact with each other and have a great few laughs out of it!

Not enough "magicalness."
Also, too many slightly saxual (they won't let me use the word with an 'e') scenes depicting adolescent wizards in what looks like any trashy teen party movie. Would have been nice to keep it a bit more innocent. I think kids are exposed to saxual stimuli more than they should, and when people see the H.P. crew as peers, it exposes them to peer pressure and acceptance of this behavior as an acceptable norm.

This is the second movie that i have felt disappointed about, that saying the last was the order of the pheonix . first of all I know you can't put all 600 pages into two and half hour movie, but just stick to some important fact, I would have love to see the Dursley get told off by Dumbledore we have been waiting six years for that, instead you put a scene that had no relevents to the movie, don't get me started on the (burrows) weasley home, and what about harry finding out about Voldemort and his family,another wrong move. I'm all for adding scene,but when you do make them better then the ones in the book and make them coincide with the story line. P.S. wrong ending

Excellent movie, beautiful cinematography, remarkably stunning to view, yet the movie did not go too in depth to the book''s title. However, overall very nice capturing of the storyline. If you've never read the book...amazing movie. If you've read it, much will meet your expectations. So much of it I felt was just as I imagined while reading. A great effort to match the astounding story.

it was the funniest harry potter yet which i thought was odd considering what happens but i didnt like all the changes they made although i do understand the fact they had to cut and change scenes. there were many funny moments when the whole theater was laughing and having a good time. i would deffinatly tell anyone to go see this.
